Werewolves run at incredible speed. At the very least, if a vampire doesn’t possess a speed-related ability, no vampire can outrun a werewolf.
Fengguang listened to the wind screaming past her ears. The violent jolting on the wolf’s back nearly made her throw up. She clutched the thick fur tightly and barely managed to sit upright. Glancing at the rapidly changing scenery around her, she realized that in just a few dozen seconds, she had already left the grounds of Osiris Academy.
“Miss Xia, I’d advise you not to think about jumping off,” the werewolf carrying her said. It was a man’s voice. “At this speed, you’d be badly hurt.”
Another cheerful male voice chimed in, “Yeah, yeah. Just sit tight and don’t jump. If you fall and ruin your face, it won’t be pretty anymore.”
The rushing wind whipped Fengguang’s hair into a mess. Gritting her teeth, she asked, “You’re from Night Fog?”
“Yes!” the energetic voice replied. “My name’s Ye Yu. The one carrying you is Ye Xue. We’re here to take you back to become our clan leader’s wife!”
The corner of Fengguang’s eye twitched. “I already made things clear to Ye Wu! I’m not interested in him. Besides, he’s a werewolf and I’m from the blood clan. He’d have to be insane to want to be with me. And you, as his people, how can you just let him do something this ridiculous?!”
“There’s nothing we can do,” Ye Yu said. Ye Xue, who seemed to be the quieter one, didn’t speak, leaving Ye Yu to continue. “The clan leader said that if he doesn’t marry you, he won’t give our werewolf clan an heir. And since there’s never been a precedent of a werewolf and a vampire marrying and having children, I’m kind of curious what you and our leader would produce!”
Fengguang nearly shattered her teeth in anger. She never imagined that Ye Wu’s people could even track her down to a backwater place like Osiris. She shouted, “If he wants kids, let him give birth himself! I’m not having children for him!”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she steeled herself, clenched her teeth, and jumped off the wolf’s back.
“Are you out of your damn mind?!” Ye Yu shouted.
Fengguang’s action was no different from jumping out of a speeding car. She rolled across the ground several times, smashing into branches and rocks along the way, then tumbled all the way down a slope before finally stopping when she slammed into a tree. Unfortunately, it was her stomach that hit the trunk. The force of the impact made her cough up several mouthfuls of blood, leaving her completely unable to move.
She wasn’t worried about dying. Vampires had incredible vitality—as long as their hearts weren’t pierced and their souls weren’t destroyed, they wouldn’t die. It was just… it hurt. It hurt badly.
But no matter what, she would never marry that werewolf.
Fengguang raised her scraped hand and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, forcing herself to stand by bracing against the tree. Every inch of her body ached; her face hurt too. She knew she must have injured her face, but she didn’t have the luxury to care. She only wanted to get as far away as possible. Those two werewolves would soon track her by her scent, and once they did, she’d truly have no ability to resist.
With every step, her internal organs felt like they were being twisted in pain. The forest was dense with trees, so she could take a few steps and then lean against one for support. But she was badly injured, and it didn’t take long before her heightened vampire senses warned her—the two werewolves were catching up.
Soon, two men appeared in front of her. One was about six feet tall, with rugged, handsome features. The other was around five-seven, with a cute, clean-cut look.
The cuter one spoke first. “Miss Xia, you’ve gotten yourself into such a miserable state… it’s going to be hard for us to explain this to the clan leader.”
