Just then, another boy and girl appeared, both wearing white school uniforms. The boy was strikingly handsome—his features looked as if they had been painted: smiling eyes, a straight nose, and slightly upturned, thin lips. His demeanor was gentle and refined, and the clean white uniform only emphasized his elegance and calm. Bathed in moonlight, he seemed veiled in a soft glow.
He walked toward them through the moonlight and smiled faintly. “It’s Saturday. There are no classes. Why is everyone gathered here?”
Everyone?
Zeng Xue looked around. Including herself and the boy in the tree, there were only six people at most. What she didn’t know was that many more had already gathered in the shadows.
The girl in the white uniform was equally beautiful. Her waist-length black hair lent her an aloof, untouchable air. Standing behind the boy, she lifted her head and glanced at the person in the tree.
The boy who had been crouched in the tree like a leopard met her gaze and immediately turned into a frightened cat—he leapt down in a few bounds and fled into the distance.
What a coward.
Situ You let out a mocking “Oh?” and said sarcastically, “Wen Xian, you’ve brought your little lackey along again to stick your nose where it doesn’t belong?”
“On the principal’s request, I’m here to receive the transfer students.” The boy named Wen Xian tilted his head slightly and smiled warmly at Fengguang and Zeng Xue. “Osiris welcomes you.”
His smile was like a spring breeze, as if it could melt ice and snow. Not only Zeng Xue, but even Fengguang found herself momentarily dazed.
Generally speaking, the purer a vampire’s bloodline, the more beautiful they were, and the more irresistible they were to humans. Yet Wen Xian, a human, possessed an attraction that was impossible to ignore.
No wonder he had the qualifications to rival the male lead as the second male lead.
Fengguang sighed quietly to herself. She hadn’t forgotten that he was a vampire hunter—and she was a vampire. The gulf between their identities was not something that could be easily crossed.
Wen Xian then said to the girl behind him, “Chu Xiao, take the new students to the dorms.”
“Mm.” The girl named Chu Xiao nodded and walked over to Fengguang and Zeng Xue. “Student Zeng, I’ll take you to your dorm. As for Student Xia… I don’t have permission to enter the A Division dormitory.”
Wen Xian chuckled. “Perhaps our ever-helpful Student Situ would be willing to assist this lovely young lady.”
Situ You didn’t spare him any courtesy. “I’m not some model student. Don’t count on me.”
He knew that since Wen Xian had shown up, he wouldn’t be able to touch Zeng Xue tonight. As for Fengguang, because of the engagement between their families, he found her especially irritating. He snorted, turned on his heel, and walked away with an air of nonchalance.
The vampires hidden in the shadows also dispersed one after another.
Fengguang didn’t look at anyone else. She kept her eyes fixed on Wen Xian.
Wen Xian gave a helpless smile, a hint of resignation in his eyes. “Student Xia, I’ll take you to your dorm. The principal knows I’ve only briefly entered the A Division dorm building before, so I doubt he’ll mind.”
Only then did Fengguang smile in satisfaction. “Sure.”
The A Division and B Division dormitories were far apart, in opposite directions. Chu Xiao led Zeng Xue away first, while Fengguang followed Wen Xian in the other direction.
Wen Xian was every bit the gentleman. He took Fengguang’s suitcase from her and said casually, “Student Xia’s arrival may bring some changes to A Division.”
“You’re warning me that I might threaten Situ You’s position—and that he’ll target me because of it.”
