Frowning slightly, his fingers instinctively clicked on the paparazzi’s video. In the footage, the rumored male companion walked beside her. When crossing the street, he reached out to shield her from the passing traffic, briefly placing his arm around her. After they crossed, he withdrew his arm.

Throughout the clip, the man was constantly looking at her.

It was dark, and the quality wasn’t clear enough to discern his expression. However, judging by his unwavering attention during those three minutes, there was something unusual.

Ye Minxing grew more agitated the longer he watched. Frustrated, he exited the page, just as the trending rankings updated. A new hashtag shot to the top: #FuQingliNewRomance#.

His thumb hovered over the home button, and just as he saw the tag, the app closed. It brought him back to his home screen.

Ye Minxing froze for a moment before quickly reopening the app to check the trending tag.

Ten minutes earlier, a marketing account had posted a short clip. In it, a couple was seen hugging and briefly kissing. The moment was fleeting, lasting only a few seconds, before they separated and walked away hand-in-hand. Midway, the man pulled the woman closer to him, looking very much like a sweet, affectionate couple.

The comments flooded in:

• “They’re so cute together!”

His frown deepened, a strange sense of discomfort welling up in him. He stared at the screen for a while without reacting. As a man, it seemed perfectly natural for him to move on after the divorce and find new love. But for his ex-wife to find someone new? That left him feeling inexplicably uneasy.

When they divorced, he had lingering feelings for Fu Qingli. The split had been a moment of impulsive pride—he wanted to prove he could thrive without her and that she wouldn’t amount to much without him.

Yet reality proved otherwise.

She was doing far better than he had imagined.

Exiting the app entirely, Ye Minxing struggled to calm his unsettled emotions.

Just then, a phone call came through.

“Ahxing, guess what? I’m pregnant!”

“Really?!” Ye Minxing shot to his feet, his office chair rolling back and crashing into the wall. He didn’t even look back. “You’re pregnant? Did you go to the hospital to confirm?”

Su Tang, gently caressing her stomach, smiled coldly and said, “Not yet, but I used a pregnancy test kit. It’s almost certain.”

Ye Minxing was overjoyed. He was no longer young, a few years older than Fu Qingli, and had always wanted a child during their marriage. However, there had been no news.

Now, finally, it was happening.

A child would surely soften his parents’ opposition to Su Tang, wouldn’t it?

“Dad, Su Tang is pregnant,” he announced as soon as he entered.

His father, who already frowned every time he saw his son, furrowed his brows even deeper. “Say that again?”

Ye Minxing’s grin stretched from ear to ear but faltered slightly. He repeated, “Su Tang is pregnant.”

“Are you sure it’s yours?” his father asked bluntly.

“Dad!” Ye Minxing’s tone carried a hint of anger. “Who else’s could it be? That incident was an accident. Her assistant couldn’t reach me, so they called Ji Yan. He left right after, and they haven’t been in contact since.”

His father’s expression softened slightly. If his son was this confident, then the child must indeed be his. This would be the family’s first great-grandchild. He didn’t like the child’s mother, but now that there was a baby involved, things were different.

After a moment of consideration, his father said, “I can accept the child and Su Tang, but Su’s company won’t receive any help from us.”

Relieved, Ye Minxing quickly replied, “Of course. Su Tang will understand.”
