Yeh Minmin was furious. The reason she treated Qingli this way was because of the terrifying escape show.

As the eldest daughter of the Yeh family, she had been raised in luxury, with everything handed to her. Her personality was proud, and she had a bold, adventurous side. She enjoyed playing escape room games, but at first, when she heard that the guest on the horror escape show was Fu Qingli, she was annoyed. She thought that Su Tang, not Qingli, would be the better choice for her brother’s wife, at least she would play along with her.

However, yesterday, a friend recommended the show to her. She initially refused, but since it was playing right in front of her, she couldn’t help but glance at it. Gradually, she got drawn in by the developments on the show.

The eerie atmosphere, mind-boggling puzzles, and all the funny moments had her hooked, especially Fu Qingli, who was surprisingly lovable. To blend in with the zombies, she intentionally chased Su Tang around but wouldn’t bite her at the crucial moments. She even helped her team despite being terrified of zombies herself, often getting scared by her own teammates’ faces.

These scenes had Minmin laughing out loud. She couldn’t stop, so she watched the edited versions of the previous two episodes as well.

Although Fu Qingli didn’t stand out much in the first episode and was easily frightened, by the second episode, she made huge progress, and Minmin couldn’t help but admire her. By the third episode, she was impressed by Qingli’s ability to decipher a challenging puzzle and fight off zombies, despite her fears. Minmin even found herself thinking that Fu Qingli wouldn’t be as bad as her sister-in-law.

She was pretty, and in the third episode, she even fought zombies and solved difficult puzzles. Minmin was warm to her, especially when she stood up for herself.

After watching the entire series, Minmin and her friends couldn’t stop laughing and discussing how Fu Qingli had grown and improved, especially her quirky actions.

Minmin had trouble fitting in at first, though, because she still harbored a dislike for Qingli. But then someone casually mentioned that Fu Qingli was her sister-in-law, and suddenly, all attention shifted to Minmin. They urged her to ask Qingli for an autograph, even a signed photo. They all loved her!

Minmin thought the request was easy. Although Qingli had previously bullied her and never apologized, she decided to let it go because of how entertaining the horror escape show was. She went to her older brother, Yeh Minhxian, and asked him to get Qingli’s autograph for her. It was then she found out that her brother and sister-in-law were having problems.

When Minhxian inquired about the situation, Minmin explained, and he decided to call Qingli. He hoped that by having Minmin soften her approach, Qingli would eventually give in.

However, when Minmin finally gathered the courage to speak politely, Qingli’s response was completely unexpected. It was as if Qingli was trampling all over her pride.

Minmin’s face flushed with anger. She threw the phone at Yeh Minhxian and shouted, “Brother, you did this on purpose! Look at how she treated me! It was her fault, she didn’t want to go shopping with me, but then acted like I was bullying her! Now she’s pulling this stunt! I don’t want her as my sister-in-law anymore! I’m going to tell Mom!”

Minmin stormed off, her high heels clacking on the floor.

“It’s just a celebrity!” she thought to herself. “I’m not short on money! When I turn twenty, I’ll invite a bunch of celebrities to perform at my birthday party!”

Yeh Minhxian watched Minmin storm away, his jaw clenched, a bitter feeling rising in his chest. He had lowered himself so much, and yet Qingli wouldn’t even compromise.

Staring at the divorce papers that had been sent again, this time with Fu Qingli’s signature already on them, he felt disheartened. He opened his phone and dialed her number.

“Is the divorce agreement signed?”

On the other end of the line, her voice was calm and pleasant, but there was a chilling indifference to it, as though all past emotions were gone. She sounded even colder than when she spoke to Meng Ke and the others on the show.

She had changed so quickly.

Yeh Minhxian, now realizing that even if his family gave in, Qingli wouldn’t take a second look at him, thought, “Why bother continuing to humble myself for her?”

Without her, he wasn’t going to be left without options.

With a sarcastic smirk, he said, “Fine, as you wish.”

Her voice, which had been indifferent, now held a slight note of surprise. “Really?”

Yeh Minhxian’s expression turned colder. “Really.”

He grabbed a pen and signed his name on the two copies of the divorce agreement. “Come get the papers when you can, and let’s finalize this soon.”

He waited for the moment when she would realize that without him, her life wouldn’t be as great as she thought.

But in reality, without Yeh Minhxian, Fu Qingli’s life was only going to get better.

The horror escape show and her rising fame were a perfect match, propelling her into the spotlight. She was no longer just an obscure name in the entertainment industry.

After people saw her in the show, they realized she was more than just a variety show star. Her acting was good, and now that she had a following, everyone was talking about her characters.

With her newfound fame came more job offers, including several endorsement deals. A month before starting a new role, Qingli had already filmed two commercials for fast-moving consumer goods, earning a nice sum of endorsement fees, all of which she invested into the stock market.

Zheng Yue, noticing that Qingli hadn’t bought anything for herself despite earning all that money, assumed she was just frugal. She tried to persuade her to spend, but after a few attempts, gave up.

Qingli couldn’t reveal that she had invested all her earnings in stocks. The previous owner of her body had saved up money but didn’t know how to invest, so it was all sitting in the bank. But thanks to the horror escape show, the pay was quite generous.

With those endorsement deals, she now had a decent amount of money to work with, all of which she put into the stock market.

Everything was going according to Qingli’s plan, especially after the divorce. With the last of her shackles gone, she felt free—though she controlled herself and remained rational.

Focus on making money first!

Of course, before focusing on making money, Qing Li didn’t forget to send gifts to the Su family.

As for when the gift would appear before the intended recipient, Qing Li had no idea.

In November, Qing Li and Ye Minxing went to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get their divorce certificate.

Because of her recent surge in popularity, even a brief appearance was caught on camera, instantly trending. Many people thought they were getting a marriage certificate, though some were skeptical.

A portion of the general public, who weren’t too fond of the entertainment industry, speculated: “This is probably just a stunt, maybe a couple’s publicity gimmick. With the Ye family’s wealth, if Qing Li had wanted to marry him, she wouldn’t have rejected him in the first place!”

“There’s no way they’d divorce. Female celebrities are plenty, but rich husbands are rare. It’s hard to find such a good family to remarry.”
