WBSGVS Chapter 264 Part 2

Su Qiu divorced, but unlike her previous life, this time she left with almost nothing.

Back then, she had walked away in triumph, pockets full. Later, she married Shao Mingxuan, used her assets to help the Shao family through hardships, and even won over his parents.

But now… she had only herself, a single apartment to live in, a little cash, and a few worthless trinkets. Compared to Gu Junyi’s vast fortune, she might as well have been left penniless.

A month later, Wei Xuwei and Shao Mingxuan’s divorce was finalized.

On the household registry, Wei Xuwei was now the head of the family, with Qingli under her name. At Qingli’s insistence, Shao Mingxuan also paid a lump sum of five million in child support. Because his cash flow was tight, part of it came in the form of property—a house.

When the Shao parents heard this, they were livid. They wanted to snatch their granddaughter back and even stormed into Wei Xuwei’s restaurant to make a scene.

But before they could stir up trouble, they suddenly found themselves with no time left to come.

The Shao family’s project ran into problems, just like in the book. Now, all of the company’s manpower, resources, and funds were focused on trying to save it, hoping to avoid a huge financial loss.

Meanwhile, Wei Xuwei and Qingli’s lives returned to peace.

Neither of them paid attention to the Shao family’s troubles—one was happily living as an elementary schooler, and the other focused on running her shop, spending her free time taking her daughter out to play. She was determined to make sure her daughter never felt the absence of a complete family.

But a few months later, when everything finally came to a head, Qingli learned the situation from a phone call with Shao’s grandmother. This time, the Shao family’s company collapsed even worse than in her previous life—because back then, there hadn’t been a scandal with infidelity, and Gu Junyi hadn’t interfered.

Now, he was angry enough to deliver a “small lesson.”

Unfortunately, the timing couldn’t have been worse. With the Shao company already under enormous pressure, that “small lesson” became the final straw that broke them.

The company nearly fell apart completely.

Furious, Shao’s parents scolded their foolish son over and over again, but it was useless. Old Mr. Shao, despite his age, had to take up the fight again. Using past favors and connections, he managed to secure some financing and saved part of the business.

But the company had already shrunk too much.

Compared to before, the difference was like night and day.

Even though the blow was severe, the Shao parents were still capable people. The company hadn’t gone bankrupt, just reduced. It wasn’t fatal—but their trust in their son was gone.

So, once again, the grandfather—who had long stopped managing things—was forced to shoulder the burden. As for Shao Mingxuan, he was still fighting his parents bitterly, determined to marry Su Qiu.

Because of the scandal at the birthday banquet and the damage Su Qiu had caused, Shao’s parents refused to accept her ,no matter what.

The family remained locked in a stalemate.

When Shao’s grandmother called, she let slip some complaints. By then, Qingli was old enough to understand. The latest news was shocking: Shao Mingxuan had stolen the household registration book and secretly married Su Qiu behind his parents’ backs.

His parents were so furious that they kicked the two of them out.

Qingli just laughed when she heard. She didn’t take it too seriously. After all, Mingxuan was still their son, and the Shao parents loved having a grandson. Eventually, they would compromise. Still… when Qingli moved, she deliberately gave Shao Mingxuan a sachet filled with herbs to place by his bed for calm sleep.

What he didn’t know was that the sachet also worked as birth control.

Qingli wanted to see if having a child was delayed by a year or two; would the two of them still be as in love under such heavy opposition?

Extra Story 1 — Shao Mingxuan

Once again, they were thrown out of the Shao household. Even though she had braced herself mentally, Su Qiu still ended up in tears.

Her eyes were red, tears streaming down her face as she threw herself into Mingxuan’s arms. “What are we going to do? Your parents don’t have the slightest intention of accepting me!”

For the past six months, she had come by again and again, only to be turned away each time. Even when Mingxuan brought her, they would eventually be kicked out—she’d never even managed to eat a full meal there.

The Shao parents’ rejection of her was too deep.

Mingxuan himself was exhausted. On one side, he had no access to the company’s core business crisis; on the other, the woman he loved kept getting hurt. And he had no idea what to do.

As usual, all he could do was pat her shoulder and murmur, “It’s okay. Next time, they’ll be better.”

His parents were very traditional. Their past demands—like insisting Wei Xuwei become their “ideal daughter-in-law,” or pressuring her to give them a grandson—made that clear.

But everyone knew that Su Qiu had had an affair with him during her marriage. If they let her in, the Shao family’s reputation would be ruined.

Especially with Gu Junyi still looming in the background.

The Shao family couldn’t take more risks. They figured that if Mingxuan could cheat with Su Qiu once, he could just as easily cheat again. They didn’t believe the relationship would last, so their opposition was absolute. Mingxuan, knowing their nature, could only hope time would wear them down.

“Next time, next time! How many ‘next times’ already?” Su Qiu exploded. “Shao Mingxuan, can’t you do anything else to make this easier for me?”

“I…” Mingxuan tried to explain, but he was too mild-mannered, too soft. He had no idea how to change things. The words stuck in his throat.

Su Qiu looked at him with disappointment, stepping out of his embrace. All she felt now was impatience—and disgust.

Six months had passed.

At first, she thought getting pregnant would solve everything. Surely his parents wouldn’t resist a grandchild. But it had been half a year, and still no baby. Instead, she found herself comparing Mingxuan to Gu Junyi again.

One word from Gu Junyi could shake the entire Shao family. With Mingxuan, she had given up her life of luxury and become the hated “mistress.”

The difference hit her hard.

Slowly, she began to doubt herself. Why had she fallen so hard for Mingxuan after her rebirth?

Did she love him, or just the idea of him she had clung to as a ghost?

The more she thought about it, the clearer it became. Mingxuan was boring. Wooden. Nothing like Gu Junyi, who—even as a cheater—was charming, knew how to coax her, how to play.

Mingxuan noticed none of this. He just held her, saying, “Let’s go home. Maybe once we have a child, things will change.”

“And when will that be?” Su Qiu asked flatly.

Neither of them had fertility problems. They both had children before. Why not together? Were they simply incompatible?

Her doubts grew.

Mingxuan fell silent, weighed down. Nearing forty, he was already physically exhausted. Forcing frequent intimacy only made him weaker—and still, no pregnancy.

Two people who once blushed just by looking at each other now sat in silence.

Another two months passed. Still no child. Looking at the bed made them both feel uneasy. Finally, Mingxuan said hoarsely, “Maybe we should try IVF.”

Su Qiu rejected it instantly. “No! I’m already a high-risk mother. Doing IVF would risk my life. I can’t.”

“Then what? Just wait like this? My mom’s already fallen sick—she just wants a grandson!” Mingxuan snapped, pulling at his hair in frustration.

His parents didn’t plan to hand the company to him. All they wanted was a grandchild. And if not with Su Qiu, then with anyone else.

The pressure had driven his mother into the hospital. She pretended to be gravely ill, just to force Mingxuan to wake up and leave Su Qiu.

Mingxuan was desperate. The thought of IVF had been his last straw, and her rejection left him reeling.

Su Qiu just looked at him quietly.

Nearly forty years old, and still so… incompetent. Back in college, she had rejected Mingxuan for Gu Junyi. She had been right.

Now, she was fully awake.

The truth was, she didn’t love him at all.

She had only clung to him because, as a ghost, he was the only one she could see, the only one who spoke to her. That dependency had fooled her into thinking it was love.

With a bitter smile, she said, “Let’s divorce.”

Mingxuan froze, his face stiff.

She continued, “We don’t really love each other anymore, and you know it. I just realized I was in love with a fantasy, not you. We’re not compatible. I like excitement; you’re too traditional. I like strong men; you just go along with me. I like…”

Her voice was calm, but her eyes were filled with regret.

“I should’ve seen it sooner. Now it’s too late.”

She gave a small laugh. “You didn’t even choose me out of love, did you? You just threw away Wei Xuwei because you didn’t care about her, and I was the easier option.”

Mingxuan whipped his head toward her, shocked and confused.

Su Qiu smiled faintly. “We really don’t belong together.”

Extra Story 2 — Wei Xuwei

After divorcing Shao Mingxuan, Wei Xuwei felt like the whole world had brightened.

She managed her restaurant, but it no longer required her constant attention. With her free time, she went out—sometimes alone, sometimes with her daughter.

She thought she’d never set foot in that exclusive club again. But when her daughter dragged her there repeatedly, she found it wasn’t so bad.

She had no ulterior motives—it was just fun. The guests and young men there were all smooth talkers, and her perspective on life widened.

On her first visit after the divorce, she shared a private room with another woman, since there weren’t enough available. Neither of them had come looking for anything serious—just relaxation and conversation.

They ended up chatting all night.

Wei Xuwei was amazed to learn how many ways a woman could live.

This woman was forty-five, never married, but had a steady partner to avoid risks. She had adopted a daughter at thirty, who was now fifteen and in her final year of high school after skipping three grades. The girl was brilliant, preparing for college, and would one day inherit her mother’s company.

Wei Xuwei was stunned. “And your parents didn’t object to you never marrying?”

The woman laughed. Of course, her parents had disapproved. But she had moved out right after graduation, rarely contacted them, and eventually they gave up. Later, when they grew old, she brought them to live with her and her daughter, and they were happy together.

That night, the young men they’d hired ended up just playing cards with Qingli, while the two women talked until morning. Before leaving, they exchanged contact information. The woman even teased, “If you ever want a steady partner, I can recommend someone. Don’t be shy—women need to take care of their needs too.”

Wei Xuwei was flustered, face burning, and rushed home with her daughter. But that chance encounter gave her a whole new perspective on life.

She no longer confined herself to old beliefs. She began to acknowledge her body and her desires.

Eventually, she even found a steady companion.

Marriage and romance were no longer on the table for her.

She had her daughter—what more could she want?

Her priority was her business anyway. She had no time for relationships. The occasional bit of relaxation was enough.

By the third year after the divorce, her restaurant was thriving enough to open a second branch.

By the tenth year, she owned five.

That was enough. She had built wealth for her daughter, enough to ensure she could live happily so long as she stayed out of trouble.

And honestly… Qingli didn’t seem like the type to ever marry or have children anyway.

Wei Xuwei was right. Qingli had no interest in marriage.

This time around, with her mother providing for her, she was content to just eat, drink, and play. In her past lives, she had struggled too much. Now, it was time to rest.

Most importantly, with such a wonderful mother giving her a comfortable life, why bother fighting?

After Qingli grew up and cared for her mother until the end, she too soon fell into sleep.

As she sank into the endless darkness again, she heard a familiar voice:

[Tasker Qingli has requested rest. Confirm suspension of entry into mission worlds?]

Qingli: [Yes.]

[Tasker Qingli has chosen to temporarily rest. We look forward to the day you wake again.]
