When Su Yan found Qingli, she was in her room packing up. Naturally, there was no way she could keep sharing a room with He Tianzhuo.
The original owner of the body had a lot of stuff, especially scripts.
The script for the novel adaptation had already been revised, but due to changes during filming, further revisions continued to be made. There was still a mountain of material to organize when someone knocked on the door.
Qingli opened it and found a tall, slender young man with slightly long hair and a bright, charming smile standing outside.
He looked like the kind of person people naturally liked.
And he was. Though a bit lacking in gravitas, his lively personality and striking good looks had always worked in his favor. Raised with the best resources from a young age, he had an air of privilege about him. His skin was fair, his features refined, and every gesture—from etiquette classes, no doubt—made him seem like a prince straight out of a novel.
He’d caught fans’ attention the moment he debuted thanks to a role in one of the original owner’s scripts. With excellent projects ever since—some hits, some misses—his popularity only grew. By now, he was undeniably a major star.
And because of his personality, the original Qingli had loved him most among the younger generation of her family.
But her family hadn’t been reliable, and Su Yan even less so.
In her past life, after the original Qingli was pushed down the stairs and left in a coma, the Su family agreed to settle with He Tianzhuo for money and resources. Su Yan had even helped fan the flames of public opinion against her, becoming one of the key weapons used to smear her name.
So now, looking at the handsome young man in the prime of his life, Qingli felt zero affection.
How could the original have loved someone this heartless for so many years?
She opened the door, walked back into the room without a word, and continued packing.
Su Yan, never having received such a cold reception in his life, blinked in confusion. But quickly, he justified her reaction to himself: She must’ve fought with Uncle—she’s in a bad mood.
Still smiling, he followed her inside. “Auntie~”
Qingli was sorting a stack of documents. Her voice was cool. “What do you want?”
Su Yan hovered around her, pretending to help while asking curiously, “Why are you packing your clothes?”
“I booked a separate room. I’m staying alone,” she said flatly.
Su Yan was stunned. His aunt and uncle had never lived apart, no matter how bad their fights were. “Is this because of Zhao Muyun? I asked around—her aunt is just here to help take care of her day-to-day. She doesn’t even show up on set much. You’re overreacting.”
Qingli smiled, then turned to him seriously. “It’s not overreacting. I don’t like Zhao Rongrong, so I don’t like Zhao Muyun either. Since I don’t like her, she’s not going to be the female lead in my script. That’s all there is to it. After tomorrow, either she leaves, or I do. As for He Tianzhuo, he hasn’t been able to perform since he was stabbed five years ago by Zhao Rongrong’s ex-husband. We haven’t had a sex life in years. And today, I finally realized: what do I need a husband like that for? Just so he can split my money?”
Su Yan stared at her in shock, speechless for several long seconds.
His aunt…
She’d always been so gentle. How could she suddenly say something like this?
And that thing from five years ago—he hadn’t known the full story, but he’d heard enough to piece it together.
He opened his mouth to speak, but in his shock, his tongue stumbled and he bit the tip. Tears welled up from the pain. He winced. “Auntie… is this necessary? Just because of what happened five years ago?”
“Besides, after all these years with Uncle, you’re just going to separate over something like this? That’s such a shame! And what’s this talk about money? After so long together, can you separate things that cleanly?”
Qingli raised an eyebrow. “So what am I supposed to do—just stay unhappy? What exactly about Zhao Muyun makes her worth tolerating?!”
She was honestly baffled. It’s my project. I can give the role to whoever I want. Why should I cater to anyone else’s feelings and let someone I dislike take the lead role, only to make myself miserable?
Su Yan faltered. He couldn’t come up with a counterargument. Still, he couldn’t just watch Zhao Muyun get kicked off the project for something this petty. He pleaded, “Auntie! I’ve been working well with Zhao Muyun. We’ve got great chemistry—it’s not easy finding a good scene partner. Please, I’m begging you, just do this for me?”
Qingli set down her suitcase and turned to face him. Her tone was firm. “Su Yan, do you remember how much I’ve done for you over the years?”
Su Yan scratched his nose awkwardly and nodded. “O-of course I do! Auntie, you’ve always been the best to me…”
Qingli said, “Then right now, between Zhao Muyun and me, who would you choose?”
Su Yan fell silent. His handsome face twisted in a deep internal struggle.
But it wasn’t over whom to choose. It was over whether or not to admit who he would choose.
Because deep down… he cared more about Zhao Muyun.
Maybe, to him, Aunt Qingli was just supposed to spoil him. Always.
Qingli let out a bitter laugh. “So, everything I’ve done for you all these years can’t compare to two months of knowing Zhao Muyun. I did pour my heart out to a dog.”
Su Yan panicked and reached for her hand. “That’s not it, Auntie—I just think things don’t have to go this far. Really…”
Qingli pulled her hand away. Her voice was cold. “For He Tianzhuo, I endured five years in a sexless marriage. For his desire to stay child-free, I gave up having children of my own and let my youth slip away. Why the hell should I now put up with you asking me to tolerate Zhao Rongrong—that woman who once sat on my husband’s lap?!”
Su Yan was stunned. He had never been treated like this by his aunt before, and the blow left him visibly hurt. “So you’re just going to abandon me too? If Zhao Muyun’s out, then I’m quitting too!”
Qingli’s face was expressionless. “Perfect. Just remember to pay the breach-of-contract fee.”
Su Yan: “!!!”
He glared at her in disbelief, but Qingli simply kept packing. Anything useless was tossed. The rest was neatly organized into suitcases. She was meticulous, making sure not to leave behind a single thing. She never even glanced back at him.
Su Yan had never been treated like this. Furious, he stormed out.
SLAM.
The door shut so hard, it felt like the floor shook.
Just a moment ago, Qingli’s face had been expressionless—but now, she cracked a smile, and the coldness in her eyes was gone.
Please don’t compare the dog to him. He is rather like those so called white eyed wolf.
