Xie Qingyu was so sleepy that her mouth was also tired. She didn’t want to talk to Zhuzhu anymore.

She said to Zhuzhu, “Baby, Mommy is very sleepy now. If you don’t want to sleep, go out and play. If you want to sleep, just close your eyes and don’t bother Mommy anymore.”

Zhuzhu was quiet for a while.

Just when Xie Qingyu thought that she had fallen asleep, Zhuzhu suddenly crawled out from under the quilt.

After landing on the floor and putting on her little shoes, she said to her mother, “Mom, I’m a little thirsty. I want to go out and get some water.”

Zhuzhu ran out to drink water.

She clattered into the living room in her pink bunny slippers. She saw the father sitting on the sofa, looking down at his phone. She glanced at him warily and immediately walked away, heading for the dining room.

A moment later, she returned from the dining room, holding a glass of water. Her eyes were still wary as she looked at Duan Zihui.

Duan Zihui had stopped playing with his phone. He raised his head, his thick and dark eyelashes fluttering, as he looked at the little girl, who was practically slumping against the TV.

He raised his lips softly and called out, “Zhuzhu.”

The little girl was startled by his sudden voice and almost dropped the glass in her hand. Her eyes were clear and alert, as if she were guarding against a thief.

Her voice was crisp: “I…I don’t want to pay attention to you. If you take me away, I will never see my mother again.”

Then she ran to the room quickly, and after entering, she quickly closed the door, as if he would rush in and grab her if she was a step slower.

But Duan Zihui just sat on the sofa, spreading his legs leisurely.

Zhuzhu didn’t come out for more than half an hour after she went in.

Duan Zihui was a little bored, so he went to the refrigerator and rummaged through it. He took out a box of milk, put a straw in it, and drank it.

When he returned to his original seat on the sofa, he saw some unpacked children’s building blocks next to him. He tore open the outer packaging and took them out to play.

After all, it was too boring.

The two of them probably wouldn’t come out for a while.

Duan Zihui hadn’t played with children’s toys for many years. Thinking of the little jumping girl, he was in a good mood. He took her building blocks and stacked them patiently.

She wandered around the room, fiddling here and there.

Zhuzhu slowly and quietly made her way outside, poking her head out, trying to get a better look at what he was doing.

By the time she could see clearly, Duan Zihui had also seen her.

Or maybe he already knew that she was out.

Seeing that she was a little curious about him, he played with the toy in his hand calmly until she walked toward him and then pretended to see her.

He also spoke to Zhuzhu: “Zhuzhu, come here. Daddy will teach you how to stack blocks.”

As soon as the little guy saw him look up, she immediately turned around and ran away.

Duan Zihui smiled.

About ten seconds later, the child’s somewhat devastated crying sound came from the room.

“Mom, didn’t you say he wouldn’t steal my toys? He took apart my building blocks and drank the only carton of milk in my refrigerator! I was thinking of drinking it with breakfast later! But there’s nothing left.”

Duan Zihui glanced at the empty milk carton next to him.

…He didn’t pay attention. It turned out to be children’s milk. No wonder it was so sweet.
