Who was Du Qinrong?

Before she got married, she was a pampered princess, always being taken care of by others. How could she possibly take care of others?

Duan Zihui was mostly cared for by a nanny when he was a child, as she was busy at the time and didn’t take care of him much.

But how could his mother possibly take care of anyone?

Duan Zihui tried to persuade her, “Mom, don’t cause us trouble.”

Du Qinrong glared at him: “Do I look like someone who would cause trouble? If I can’t take care of her myself, I can ask Aunt Zhou to come along. We don’t have many people in our family, but we have plenty of people who can take care of others.”

Little Zhuzhu said somewhat discontentedly, “But my mom doesn’t want to see you guys around. She might not be seriously ill, but you guys will make her even more upset.”

After thinking for a moment, she felt that she couldn’t put all the blame on her mother. Under Du Qinrong’s shocked gaze, she continued, “I don’t want to see you guys even more than Mom does.”

Du Qinrong’s grandmotherly love was shattered completely.

She regretted her abruptness earlier.

But upon reflection, she realized that she hadn’t done anything wrong. She was simply overly excited about the child; was that really a mistake?

Since it wasn’t her fault, then it must be her son’s fault.

Du Qinrong glared at Duan Zihui several more times, then revealed her most loving smile and said to the child, “Baby, Grandma will go back now. Come to Grandma’s house to play when you have time.”

“You can come with Mommy too.”

Du Qinrong sighed inwardly: all she wanted was to hug her little granddaughter, but she never expected it to be so difficult.

Xie Qingyu remained silent.

Duan Zihui also remained silent.

Zhuzhu pouted and said, “I won’t go home with you! There’s no way I’ll go home with you! I’ll only stay with Mom! Don’t even think about me going with you!”

The child’s words were like rubbing salt into the grandmother’s wounds.

Du Qinrong pouted, and after a long while, she looked at the child with reluctance before turning to leave.

She looked back at Zhuzhu several times as she left.

But Zhuzhu didn’t seem to want to talk to her grandmother.

After pouting, she looked away.

Du Qinrong could only leave disappointed.

Duan Zihui took Xie Qingyu and the others home. After seeing them upstairs, Xie Qingyu blocked his way at the door before they entered, giving him a look that said, ‘You can get lost’. Clearly, she had no intention of letting him in.

Duan Zihui sighed and stood at the door, saying to Zhuzhu, “Make sure you keep a close eye on your mother taking her medicine.”

“I’ll have someone come over tomorrow morning to give her an IV drip. Dad has other things to do and can only come over tonight to be with you. Call Dad if anything happens.”

Although it sounded like he was speaking to Zhuzhu, it was also meant for Xie Qingyu.
