TWSITAOCP Chapter 67

After the auditorium incident, rumors circulated online that two heartthrobs from different departments—one from the music department and the other from the art department—were seen together frequently in and out of the music department, walking side-by-side, chatting and laughing.

[I don’t know why, but I just think they’re a good match. Maybe it’s because handsome guys are pleasing to the eye when they’re together? I didn’t expect they knew each other. My damn sixth sense!]

[Ahhh, they’re so good together!]

[Our senior Yan is so cool! I really want to know how they usually get along.]

Then someone dug up that they both came from Yandu. And after asking around, the No. 26 High School’s online forum was exposed.

An anonymous netizen: [What we see is always only one in ten thousand.]

A netizen who came to watch out of curiosity: [I want to ask about the process. Do we just start shipping them?]

A netizen who often feels insecure because of their own brain: [I mourned for myself five minutes ago when I was calculating the possibility of the music department’s and the art department’s encounter. So they know each other!]

Keen observers: [They not only know each other, but they’re an ancient CP.]

Insiders: [Oh, I just came to take a look, and they are being shipped again. Luckily, I’m used to it.]

Outsiders: [I really want to hear the story from upstairs.]

At this crucial moment, someone casually remarked: [Isn’t Yu Kan also from Yandu?]

Breaking up a CP was a serious crime, and this person quickly attracted a barrage of criticism.

[Yu Kan has a girlfriend. Take that comment away.]

[This thread is only for discussing Yu Sui and Yan Xiu.]

This was just a small interlude, briefly verging from the topic, but quickly returned to normal.

Someone said: [Wow, I saw Yu Sui! He came to pick up Yan Xiu??? Downstairs at the Computer Science building, in a black car!]

Yan Xiu opened the car door and was met with his boyfriend, who was sleeping on the steering wheel.

“Let’s switch seats,” Yan Xiu immediately reached out to lift him up.

“Oh.” The young master lazily shifted, his arms wrapping around Yan Xiu, climbing over him onto the passenger seat, muttering, “Why do you always go overtime? You’re never quick about it.”

Just then, Yan Xiu’s talkative professor who loved to run overtime leaned halfway out from upstairs and shouted down, “Yan Xiu!”

Yu Sui: “…”

The young master’s expressionless face was rare. And when it did, it was particularly comical.

Yan Xiu chuckled. “Next time, I’ll come out earlier.”

The car window rolled down, letting in a bit of wind that made him feel more alert.

Yan Xiu opened the other door and looked up. The Professor was holding a drawing board, leaning against the railing and banging it furiously. “Remember to come tomorrow!”

Yu Sui sighed knowingly, half-opening his eyelids to reach for his phone, intending to cancel tomorrow’s movie tickets.

Yan Xiu stopped him.

Yan Xiu couldn’t bring himself to yell at the Professor from downstairs. He texted him, declining the offer.

Yu Sui silently turned off his phone. “Why aren’t you going?”

Yan Xiu tilted his head. “I never agreed to go anyway.”

Most of the students in his department were playful; someone as quiet as him was rare. And he even seemed to have a non-human sexual orientation.

So even though Yan Xiu was a top student, the Professor still thought he was idle and liked to keep him around. Recently, he’d even started trying to find him a partner.

Yu Sui glanced at the screen and saw the last few lines.

Jing: [Why aren’t you coming? What are you busy with?]

Ren Mu: [Accompanying my partner]

Jing: [? ? ? ? ]

Jing: [Are you trying to fool me?]

Ren Mu: […]

Jing: [Who is it?]

Jing: [The one in your car?]

Ren Mu: [Yeah]

The Professor was stunned.

Yu Sui could imagine the Professor’s feelings from that nonchalant, infuriating tone.

The car moved slowly, restricted by the speed limit. Before leaving, Yu Sui looked up. The professor was no longer by the railing; a dark-skinned figure had passed by on the other side of the stairwell. In its place, a group of girls were peering over the railing.

It couldn’t be a hallucination. People were always looking their way.

Yu Sui then looked away.

“How old is your professor?” Yu Sui couldn’t help but ask.

The professor was over forty-five, but looked young, dressed like a student, and occasionally looked like he was in his late twenties or early thirties. Yan Xiu asked, “What’s wrong?”

Yu Sui raised his chin: “A shadow suddenly appeared at the bottom of the stairs just now. You seemed to have startled your professor quite a bit; he’s rushing down now. What if his blood pressure spikes because of his age?”

He thought for a moment and added, “But he’s been mentoring you for the past few years without any problems, so his health should be pretty good.”

Yan Xiu: “…”

Yu Sui chuckled. And seeing Yan Xiu take one hand off the steering wheel, he quickly pushed it back: “Minister, be careful.”

Before getting into the car, Yan Xiu had closed all the windows. It wasn’t cold that day, but Yan Xiu remembered this while driving: “Why did you close the windows so tightly?”

Yu Sui glanced at him several times, confirming that he genuinely hadn’t noticed the occasional glances from all directions.

However, before Yu Sui could explain, Yan Xiu already knew the reason.

It was probably because it wasn’t near finals, students had less coursework, and there were many people on the road, so he had to stop and wait at intersections every time.

That day in the auditorium, when a girl directly approached them and asked, almost happened again. Passing students glanced at them with hidden smiles.

They weren’t bothered by being shipped as a couple, but they didn’t want to be stared at like monkeys. Yan Xiu expressionlessly rolled up both windows.

Yu Sui gripped the seatbelt, grinning.

B City has many scenic spots, but ever since they came here, they hadn’t really had a proper chance to explore any of them.

They were busy on weekdays, and on weekends, they preferred staying indoors because of the crowds outside.

This time, Yu Sui copied Yang Feiwen’s travel plan from his first year here, ambitiously wanting to see everything in one go.

However, the next morning, Yu Sui abandoned the plan in just half a second.

Spring drowsiness, summer fatigue, autumn lethargy, winter hibernation—no season is suitable for waking up early.

Initially, he set a whole row of alarms, set to ring every half hour. Yu Sui blindly fumbled for his phone, squinted and turned off the first alarm. Then, half-asleep, he swiped the other alarms, eliminating the possibility of being woken up again.

Morning light desperately tried to seep into the room from under the curtains.

By the time anyone else opened their eyes, the remaining time had become very tight.

Yan Xiu had anticipated this situation. He moved his leg, which had gone numb from Yu Sui’s weight, and asked in a slightly hoarse voice, “Not going?”

Yu Sui didn’t move.

Yan Xiu’s slender fingers ran up the covers, disappearing into Yu Sui’s short hair, gently brushing it against the direction of his hair. He didn’t receive an answer and closed his eyes, still sleepy. Just as Yan Xiu was teetering on the edge of falling asleep again, the person in the blankets propped himself up on the bed, staring blankly at the headboard for a moment.

“… Let’s go.” He mumbled weakly.

The other person’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, his light-colored eyes fixing on the flustered Yu Sui: “It’s too late.”

Two seconds later, Yu Sui buried himself in the pillow and didn’t move. A muffled murmur came from the pillow: “Then why did you ask me?”

“I just want to.” Yan Xiu propped himself up as he spoke, bending his legs to sit up, his knuckles pressing against his brow. “It’s too late now.”

Yu Sui fell silent again, seemingly feeling guilty.

He had turned off his alarm all morning and missed his last chance to get up.

Then, for a moment, his mind cleared a little, remembering that it had only taken less than three minutes from Yan Xiu’s question to his answer.

A muffled chuckle came from beside him.

Yu Sui immediately grabbed the pillow and threw it aside.

Actually, they could still go to those places, but it would be a bit rushed and chaotic.

However, they had been rushing around since the morning, and there was no leisurely pace to spare for the rest of the day. Neither of them planned to go again.

Yan Xiu put the bread in the breakfast machine and went back to the bedroom to cross out Yu Sui’s grand plans, leaving only the movie tickets they had bought in advance.

Yu Sui leaned against the bathroom door, watching Yan Xiu change clothes with great interest.

While watching, he was carried away.

The soft bed sank in, and the sunlight bathed them in a soft glow. Even the sights and soft noises seemed gentler.

For a while, Yu Sui felt that their apartment was missing a cat or dog—something to show Yan Xiu whether they were related to them from five hundred years ago.

However, this idea was met with disdain from the start. Yan Xiu didn’t say anything, but his face clearly said, “Shouldn’t that be you?”

Yan Xiu had a particular fondness for massaging Yu Sui’s vocal cords, using his tongue and teeth. He wasn’t sure if the massage was effective, but he felt a fine, dense sensation. Yu Sui wanted to curl up completely, yet he didn’t want to escape. He clutched the pillow to cover his face, feeling a hand cover his, gently cupping his hand—tender and affectionate.

The two of them only made it to the movie. After returning, they took a detour to the music academy to retrieve the violin Yu Sui had left in his dorm room.

Yu Sui rarely returned to his dorm.

He hadn’t been back much lately. Unsure of his roommates’ schedules, he entered quietly.

The school’s facilities were good. The dorm was spacious, with bunk beds and desks, providing ample personal space.

Upon entering, he saw two boys huddled together in front of a computer, their eyes glued to the screen. Behind them, another person’s desk stood empty, except for a chair, suggesting it hadn’t been used in a long time.

The music department’s male dorms were well-lit, with the morning sun shining brightly, so curtains covered all four beds.

However, their dorm was rarely occupied, so the curtains were merely for dust protection.

Hearing the noise at the door, the two boys turned, then waved a greeting, and went back to doing what they’re doing.

Yu Sui had come back to get his instrument, and Yan Xiu was waiting for him downstairs.

Yu Sui owned several instruments: the ones Yan Xiu had given him had been idle since. One of the instruments was stored in a hidden compartment in the dormitory room—its case now covered in a visible layer of dust.

When he took it out, the two men glanced at it and said in unison, “Oh, it’s a violin. I thought it was just a decoration.”

“Didn’t the professor say that a violin is like a companion?”

“Men are just fickle.”

“Look at you two, so talkative.” Yu Sui said, bending down and picking up a duck covered in dust from the floor.

Without thinking, he tossed it onto the empty table, but threw it too high.

Suddenly, an arm reached out from behind the dark curtain above, instinctively catching the duck.

Yu Sui was startled: “You’re there?”

“Can’t you tell?” The curtain slid open, revealing Yu Kan holding the duck by its beak. He noticed his hand was covered in dust and disdainfully tossed the duck onto the table below. “Come back and sleep for a couple of days.”

Yu Kan’s bed was just laid out, his clothes piled high.

Yu Sui then noticed two suitcases standing next to the stairs.

Yu Kan, a rarely seen figure in the music academy, spent even less time in the dormitory than Yu Sui.

Yu Sui raised an eyelid: “Kicked out again?”

“Kicked out? Can’t you speak properly? This is called a little quarrel. He’ll be begging me to come back in a couple of days.” Yu Kan scoffed. Then, remembering something, he grabbed the railing and leaped off the bed, before grabbing over his suitcase and opening it.

“Oh, right, this is for you.”

Before Yu Sui could react, a delivery box was tossed into his hand.

The box was about thirteen inches in size, not heavy at all. Yu Sui subconsciously glanced down at it—ultra thin, zero-sensation.

He immediately threw it back: “Get lost.”

Yu Kan caught the delivery box, bending over and laughing hysterically.

The two roommates finally turned their attention to him, gasping in unison: “Damn, shameless.”

Yu Kan said he was just concerned about his roommates. Then he paused, “Do you know why Xu Zi is angry?”

Yu Sui: “Oh, so he got kicked out.”

“…” Yu Kan choked, a look of ‘a grown man doesn’t hold grudges’ on his face. He tapped a few times on his phone screen and read, “Let’s dig into the untold stories of that person from the music academy and that person from the art academy.”

He said with a half-smile, “It’s been years, why do you always drag me into your stories?”

Yu Kan and Yu Sui were from the same school, Yandu No. 26 High School, and were even in the same class before they were divided. They even had a video of them performing together.

Back then, Yu Sui had a moment of idiocy. To suppress the hype surrounding his pairing with Yan Xiu, he frequently flirted with every pairing other than the official one. The video of him performing with Yu Kan went viral again during that period. So much so that later, people would occasionally suddenly remember that, until Yu Kan publicly came out with someone else.

But Yan Xiu held a grudge. Although he didn’t say it outright, his words and actions all indicated that he did.

Yu Sui hadn’t addressed the matter, but felt guilty every time it was brought up. He noticed the commotion, so he looked towards the door. Coughing, afraid that Yu Kan the chatterbox, would spill the beans.

Yu Kan stopped abruptly, somewhat surprised: “Minister.”

It turned out that Yan Xiu had been waiting downstairs for a long time and suspected that Yu Sui’s violin might be too heavy for his delicate frame, so he came upstairs.

The other two roommates looked up, initially startled by the tall, aloof boy at the door, thinking he was there to check the dorms, and instinctively glanced at the location of their contrabands.

Then they realized this was the guy who had sent them so many snacks, so they all stood up and bowed respectfully.

Quite a scene.

Perhaps having seen this kind of scene many times before, Yan Xiu wasn’t surprised by Yu Sui’s antics in the dorm.

Like an elder, he glanced at the spot with Yu Sui’s name on it and borrowed some tape to wipe the dust off Yu Sui’s violin case.

They left the dormitory one after the other.

Yu Sui thought the trip would pass peacefully.

As the car merged into the bustling commercial street near the music building, Yan Xiu suddenly said, “Let’s go to the pharmacy.”

Yu Sui, gripping the steering wheel, glanced at Yan Xiu in the rearview mirror, then turned to look at him again while waiting at a red light: “Are you sick?”

“No,” Yan Xiu reminded him to watch the road, saying, “Going to buy something.”

Yu Sui immediately fell silent: “…”

If he wasn’t sick and going to buy medicine, what else could he be buying?

Yan Xiu fiddled with his phone, saying casually, “We ran out.”

Yu Sui wanted to scratch his ear again. There was a pharmacy near his rented apartment, but Yan Xiu insisted on buying it near the school. It would be hard to believe he wasn’t deliberately being rude.

“We’re going to crash.”

“I’m watching the road.” Yu Sui glanced outside and drove into the pharmacy area of the commercial street. He could say everyone had youthful and boundless energy, and the street outside the school sold everything.

Of course, it was also crowded.

Yan Xiu glanced at his expression: “Why didn’t you ask me when I went up there?”

Yu Sui thought, why even ask? His jealousy was practically written in his eyes. He must have gone up there when Yu Kan threw him a package.

Yan Xiu wasn’t really jealous of Yu Kan. He was just jealous of their blatant arrogance.

But he couldn’t say that outright. Yu Sui found a parking space and said fiercely, “Are you going to buy it or not?!”

Then Yan Xiu tugged at his hair, pushed open the passenger door from the inside, and the person next to him, with their coat hem billowing in the wind, swayed into the pharmacy.

Of the ten shops outside the university town, six or seven were probably owned by students. Coupled with the bustling crowds, the news that Yan Xiu from the arts department had appeared at the music department’s pharmacy with Yu Sui that evening spread throughout the four gates of the universities.

The forum homepage was flooded with another post: [Damn! They’re real!]

Extra Chapter 2

“How many should I wrap?” Yan Xiu opened a drawer, finding a bag of unused red envelopes from last time, and casually placed it on the table.

No one answered from inside.

A moment later, Yan Xiu, wearing slippers, stood at the study doorway, his long legs aimlessly bent, taking a step inside before falling back outside the doorway. He asked again, “Wrap them together or separately?”

The person inside casually unhooked their earphone cord, asking without looking up, “Wrap them together. A mix of veggie and meat is more nutritious.”

Great. He was being treated like he was wrapping dumplings.

Yan Xiu closed the door behind him and pulled two red envelopes from his bag.

Yu Sui answered, then realized something was amiss. They hadn’t eaten dumplings in a long time. And besides, he remembered there were no dumpling wrappers in the refrigerator.

And he was still wearing his other earphones. The other one was incredibly noisy, so Yu Sui didn’t even hear Yan Xiu’s cold sneer before he left.

By the time this young master finally managed to clear his groggy mind from the other end, the matter was already over.

That night, before going to bed, Yu Sui remembered it again and connected the dots: “Was it the red envelope for winter solstice?”

Winter solstice was the day of Yu Zhen’s wedding.

This young lady of the Yu family usually had a workaholic, straightforward personality, appearing aloof and indifferent. Over the years, no one had ever caught her with anyone.

The next news was that she brought a tall, handsome, and refined man back to the Yu family to meet Yu Jingyuan and Yuan Yu, then dropped the marriage certificate, catching the whole family completely off guard.

Upon further inquiry, it turned out that Yu Zhen had only known the man for less than two months and had made her move after thoroughly investigating his background.

Later, at the insistence of her family, she decided to hold the wedding ceremony, but the date was repeatedly postponed due to Yu Zhen’s work, eventually being pushed back to the beginning of winter.

Initially, no one thought their relationship would last, but now it seems they haven’t had any major conflicts.

Thinking of Yu Sui moving towards Yan Xiu, he silently counted on his fingers, lamenting that he and Yan Xiu hadn’t been together for many years, yet they acted like an old married couple.

“Hmm.” Yan Xiu, unaware of what Yu Sui was pondering, turned over, his voice tinged with sleepiness, “Put them on the shoe cabinet.”

Still paying attention to him.

Yu Sui’s random thoughts dissipated, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

Unfortunately, Yu Sui soon realized he had relaxed too soon.

This young master, unusually, was fiddling with the instrument Yan Xiu had given him in the studio. He played a long, drawn-out song perfectly. His classmates, while appreciating it, couldn’t help but shudder: “Sui, did your husband call less today?”

Usually, Yu Sui would receive a call around this time, and then his mini-fan meeting would immediately end—that was the normal procedure.

The question made Yu Sui’s eyes twitch.

But if they really wanted to pinpoint something amiss with Yan Xiu, they couldn’t. It was just a few phone calls.

Once he went back, they ate the same meals, kissed the same people, and didn’t hold back when it came to sex.

“…Mr. Ren Mu, may I make a suggestion?” Yu Sui clumsily touched the report pinned to the top of Yan Xiu’s stack of documents. “Just a small suggestion.”

No one answered.

Yu Sui called out, “Yan Xiu.”

“What is it?” This time Yan Xiu moved. He took off his glasses with one hand and placed them on the table, pinching his brow without looking up.

Yu Sui finally uttered a word. He stared intently at the stray hairs on Yan Xiu’s forehead, then suddenly leaned closer to Yan Xiu, pressing against the table: “Minister, if you keep ignoring me, I’ll throw a tantrum! I’ll throw a tantrum, okay?”

The young master’s words were startling. Yan Xiu smirked, his gaze traveling from Yu Sui’s waist up to his face. “Throw a tantrum?”

Yu Sui: “Yes, throw a tantrum.”

Yan Xiu crossed his arms and leaned back in his swivel chair: “Go ahead and throw a tantrum.”

Yu Sui rolled up his sleeves, seemingly speechless.

He now knew what Yan Xiu was up to, and he guessed Yan Xiu knew he knew too.

Logically, if he went along with it now, it would be over; that’s how all their past minor squabbles had gone through.

But this young master’s lips moved, and he couldn’t help but ask: “Who looks like they’re throwing a tantrum right now?”

“…” Yan Xiu lowered his arms, skipping over the question, “Who started by ignoring me?”

“Me.” Yu Sui tried to suppress his smile, “I was wrong.”

But he couldn’t quite manage it, looking utterly exasperated.

Yan Xiu sat quietly for two seconds under this gaze, then immediately stood up and pulled Yu Sui towards the room.

“No tantrum,” Yan Xiu said, drawing the curtains, his voice calm. “It was just coquettishness.”

Yu Sui burst out laughing, grabbing the blankets as if suddenly electrified.

Then the curtains were drawn with a hint of annoyance and embarrassment. At that moment, the streetlights cast their glow, illuminating the various scenes unfolding in several homes.
