In the blazing summer sun, two figures, one big and one small, ran across the court. The younger one wore a blue numbered vest, his black hair shaved into a buzz cut with two slanted ‘x’s on the sides. This cool hairstyle diluted the cuteness of Ji Chen’s chubby face, giving it a hint of rebellious wildness.
And so was he.
Ji Chen was already a big boy, his toys switching from tanks, cars, airplanes, and Superman to basketballs. Perhaps due to his childhood love of exercise, his well-developed athletic instincts, and his habit of never being picky about food, Ji Chen was half a head taller than his twin sister, Ji Tang.
His uncle was as unruly as ever, not letting him off the hook for his adorable nephew, even arguing with a six-year-old.
Having been bullied by his uncle since childhood, Ji Chen was now a capable fighter. Although he was small, he was incredibly agile!
Ji Hemiao also felt that this kid was getting more and more fierce. He’d been busy developing a new game recently and had been stuck at the company for two consecutive months. If he’d been a ferocious calf before, he was now worthy of being called a tiger cub.
Ji Tang sat in the first row of the open-air stadium, a sketchbook in hand. While her uncle and brother played basketball, she sat there drawing pictures of them.
Ji Tang’s talents lay entirely in her head. Her IQ was higher than average. Perhaps due to her childhood obsession with reading, she had already shown an astonishing talent for math. Even at such a young age, she was already participating in related intelligence competitions.
“Tangtang, are you drawing your brother?”
Hearing the familiar voice, Ji Tang turned, a smile finally breaking out on her face: “Mom and Dad!”
Ji Hefeng and Yu Tian arrived to pick up their children.
Ji Tang nodded obediently and showed her notebook to her mother.
Yu Tian took a look at the notebook, beaming, and handed it to Ji Hefeng.
Ji Hefeng took a look and saw that her daughter had drawn two happy-go-lucky Huskies.
“Stop playing, stop playing! You’re bullying a child!”
Ji Chen was finally annoyed by Ji Hemiao. Seeing Ji Hemiao score another goal, he couldn’t stand it anymore.
Angry as he was, Ji Hemiao was a master. After training under Ji Hemiao, his skills would be unmatched when he returned to kindergarten.
What’s so great about being tall?
He’ll grow taller sooner or later anyway. 🙂
Ji Hemiao pointed at Ji Chen and said, “You can’t afford to lose.”
Ji Chen inherited his mother’s agile and thick-skinned nature. He said with a defiant air of righteousness: “How dare you tell a six-year-old can’t afford to lose?”
Ji Hemiao: “…”
Ji Hemiao was amused by his eldest nephew. He rubbed his head, tossed the ball into his arms, and patted his shoulder: “Go ahead, they’re here to pick you up.”
Ji Chen ran toward his parents, and Ji Hemiao followed suit.
“Ah Miao, you’re finally out of seclusion?”
Yu Tian had last seen Ji Hemiao a month ago. The guy had been toiling away with his team for a month, even growing a beard, looking like a slumped middle-aged man. Now, with a new haircut and shaved beard, the handsome young man he once was was back.
“Hmm.”
“What are your plans next?”
Ji Hemiao stretched. “Going abroad with Du Liang.”
Yu Tian was dissatisfied. “Du Liang again.”
“Duan Qimai’s been busy lately.”
They’d all graduated and were busy.
“I mean, why are you still single?”
What future could there be in hanging out with that single Du Liang every day?
Ji Hemiao: “…”
Ji Hemiao rolled his eyes in anger, “Never mind!”
The uncle ran away, angered by his mother, and the two cubs were carried into the car by their parents and taken home.
“What do you want to eat tonight?”
