TL: Hua
“Did you pour the water?”
Lance Vaughn didn’t even look at Ji Xuan. He walked leisurely to his desk, pulled out a chair, and sat down, shouting, “So what if I did?”
The Combat Department of Mars Military Academy generally didn’t admit Omegas, so naturally, there were no Omega dorms there.
Because of his sudden differentiation, “Ji Xuan” had been forced to move out of the Beta living area and was reassigned to the Medical Department’s Omega dorms.
However, his new roommate didn’t get along with Ji Yan and was even less likely to show any kindness to this “Second Brother” back from the garbage planet.
Seeing that Ji Xuan didn’t speak, he gave an arrogant snort and said sarcastically, “I warned you before: the balcony is my territory. Don’t throw your trashy stuff over there. If you ruin my flowers with your stench, can you afford to pay for them?”
Ji Xuan looked down, his fingertips brushing the edge of the soaked bedding. Droplets of water squeezed out and pooled on his fingernails.
[It’s probably just the water he used to water the flowers. It’ll be fine once you dry it out.]
Seeing this, Lance felt even more smug. Humming a tune, he tapped on the holographic terminal on his desk and deliberately turned up the volume.
Light and shadows shifted on the screen, playing a recording of the Combat Department’s recent simulated training. The commentator was shouting the names of Shaikh and another Alpha at the top of his lungs. As soon as the camera cut to Ji Xuan’s team, the bullet comments were instantly flooded with “Get out. We’re not watching you.”
The air in the dormitory suddenly grew heavy.
Ji Xuan didn’t touch the bedding again. He simply stood up slowly and walked unhurriedly into the bathroom.
Lance Vaughn caught a glimpse, and a contemptuous smile curled at the corner of his mouth. He crossed his legs lazily, his fingers tapping rapidly on the holographic screen, joining the excited bullet comments in cheering for the Alpha on screen who was about to win.
The roses on the balcony were in full bloom, swaying gently in the breeze. A few stray droplets of water rolled down the leaf veins and dripped onto the bedding, merging with the dark stains already there.
The terminal volume was at its maximum; the commentator’s voice filled every corner of the room.
Behind the door, it took Ji Xuan a moment to figure out how to work the faucet.
The sound of rushing water was masked by the noisy commentary outside. Cold water poured into a basin, sending tiny splashes into the air.
As the simulated training neared its end, the highly anticipated Alpha’s score was far in the lead. The cheerful Lance Vaughn stretched lazily and raised his voice intentionally: “Still hiding in the bathroom sulking? People from the garbage planet really are pathetic.”
The bathroom door was suddenly pushed open with a click.
Lance Vaughn didn’t look up, ready to speak, when suddenly his head felt a flash of cold—
SPLASH!
An entire basin of cold water poured down without warning, soaking Lance from head to toe. His expensive shirt instantly clung to his body, making him look as pathetic as a drowned rat.
The holographic terminal fell onto the desk with a thud. The screen flickered twice, then went completely black.
Lance Vaughn was stunned for a full two seconds before he snapped his head up, his eyes bloodshot as he roared, “Are you crazy!? You dare—”
Ji Xuan stood quietly before him, still holding the emptied washbasin in his hand, water droplets trickling down the rim.
There wasn’t a flicker of emotion in his eyes; they were as cold as ice from a snowy peak.
“I don’t like owing people things.” His voice was very low, devoid of any discernible mood. “So, consider this basin of water a repayment.”
“You’re freaking sick!” Lance Vaughn slammed his hand on the desk and stood up, rushing forward aggressively. However, Ji Xuan had no intention of dealing with him; his body swayed light as a feather to the side, causing Lance to stumble and crack his shoulder against his own wardrobe.
Ji Xuan gave a light chuckle and placed the washbasin back in the bathroom without sparing him another glance. He turned to pick up the bundle of bedding from the balcony, carrying it over to hang on the railing.
“Ji Xuan, just you wait! I won’t let you get away with this!” Driven to the brink of fury, the Omega cried until he looked like a pear blossom in the rain, slamming the door with such force that everything in the room shook thrice.
Ji Xuan slowly withdrew his gaze and then, without any ceremony, lay down on Lance Vaughn’s bed.
—
Lance gritted his teeth all the way toward the Combat Department. His soaked clothes clung to him, and his hair was still dripping; he looked utterly pathetic.
Several students passing in the corridor couldn’t help but cast surprised glances his way. Someone whispered a joke, only to be glared back at ferociously.
A group of Alphas he was close with happened to be gathered outside the training hall, enthusiastically discussing tomorrow’s simulated training plan.
“Lance?” One of them looked up, stunned for a moment before stepping forward with concern. “What happened to you… who bullied you?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, the surrounding Alphas crowded around.
Lance’s face was ashen as he spoke through gritted teeth, “Who else could it be? Ji Xuan! That country bumpkin who crawled out of a garbage planet—how does he dare treat me like this!”
“What?” Someone arched an eyebrow, their expression instantly darkening.
“He actually dared to lay a hand on you?” Another Alpha sneered, his tone full of contempt. “A bottom-feeder like him actually has the nerve to bully people!”
Lance took a deep breath, the corners of his eyes still wet. His reddened eyes made him look as if he had suffered the ultimate grievance. “I don’t care! You guys have to help me teach him a lesson!”
The Alphas exchanged looks and shared a knowing smile.
“That goes without saying. Bullying you is bullying us. What kind of waves can an Omega who just differentiated recently possibly make? Besides, we’ve found him an eyesore for a long time. Leave this to us.”
Only then did the stifling frustration in Lance’s chest dissipate slightly. A naive smile curled at his lips. “Excellent. Then I’ll wait for your good news!”
—
The fuming Lance Vaughn did not return all night. Ji Xuan spent a quiet, peaceful night in his bed.
He found a terminal in the original owner’s drawer and logged into his StarNet account to gain a basic understanding of this world.
Strangely enough, he found he could easily read the text here.
The System, however, didn’t think much of it, only offering a weak reminder: [But Host, everything you did today has made the original plot completely different.]
I’m going to die anyway. Do you refuse to even give me the right to be reckless before I go?
Ji Xuan replied nonchalantly while looking at the simulated training schedule popping up on the terminal.
[It’s not that, I’m just worried…]
Before the system could finish “worrying,” Ji Xuan had closed the terminal and shut his eyes, intending to ignore it.
The system let out a few whimpering sighs and was forced to go to sleep as well.

The next day.
Mars Military Academy is located in the center of the capital planet, enjoying a spring-like climate year-round. Knowing that the Combat Department had training this morning, Ji Xuan thought for a moment and specifically fished out a slightly more practical outfit from the original owner’s wardrobe.
In truth, there weren’t many other clothes to choose from.
Upon returning to the capital planet, the original owner hadn’t become the stereotypical nouveau riche who spent money like water to make up for the hardships he endured on the garbage planet. Instead, he pinched every penny. Only when it came to his family and friends would he be reckless, choosing the best of everything. Most of his money had been spent on gifts for them.
Ji Xuan entered the training room through the back door.
The pods for the simulated training were fixed; his was in the furthest corner.
Ji Xuan walked down the aisle toward the back, initially not attracting much attention. It wasn’t until he grabbed the handrail to climb the steps of the pod that a few scattered gazes fell upon him.
“Student, are you in the wrong place?”
Ji Xuan tilted his head and glanced at him.
“This is the Combat Department training room, not Medical, and not Linguistics…”
“I’m not in the wrong place,” Ji Xuan said. “I’m here for Combat Department training.”
The surrounding Alphas simultaneously stopped what they were doing, their gazes converging on Ji Xuan.
The latter swept a cold gaze across them, lifted his eyelids slightly, and then stepped into the pod with a swift motion.
Zhou Lin exchanged a glance with his companion—neither of them had recognized that this was Ji Xuan just now.
He had completely shed his former timidity and foolishness, as if he had become a different person.
The gaze he had cast just now wasn’t exactly sharp, yet it inexplicably made one’s heart skip a beat. It was as if…
As if they were being treated like stray dogs begging for scraps, not worth a single moment of their master’s concern.
“Psst.” His companion gestured toward Ji Xuan’s pod. Zhou Lin shook himself out of his daze, remembering the promise he made to Lance Vaughn yesterday.
After telling his companion, “Act as planned,” he crawled into his own pod.
The area where the sensor touched his skin radiated a burning heat. Ji Xuan closed his eyes as prompted.
Like sinking into a sea of consciousness, his soul drifted away, followed by a flash of white.
He opened his eyes again.
A gust of wind carrying a damp, sticky scent hit him, instantly coating his face. Before him was a vast green ocean of dense vegetation, layered and blocking out the sun, with thick trunks covered in vines.
The simulation pods were controlled by mental power; Ji Xuan took a moment to familiarize himself.
It seemed to transport the human consciousness here, though all senses remained as they were in reality.
To make movement easier, he used the control panel to change his hair to a shorter length.
A rustling sound reached his ears. Ji Xuan turned sharply and saw a sour-faced Zhou Lin.
And the green marker above his head.
Zhou Lin was his teammate.
Zhou Lin cursed inwardly.
His original plan was to coordinate with friends from other teams to drag the isolated Ji Xuan to a remote part of the map for a beating, then give him a taste of his own medicine by forcing him to drink from the lake, and finally send the recording to Lance Vaughn as revenge for yesterday.
But he never expected today’s training to be random matchmaking, and he just so happened to be teamed up with Ji Xuan!
But since things had come to this, he could only brace himself. “Haha, what a coincidence! To think I’m teamed up with you this time.”
Ji Xuan’s gaze swept over the “1” Zhou Lin had just sent on the public channel of the panel. He lifted his eyelids and looked at him with a half-smile.
“Ah, I accidentally clicked the wrong thing! I meant to send you the map I marked. Wait a second!” Zhou Lin tapped his head in feigned frustration. A second later, Ji Xuan received the map he sent.
“The training just started; everyone will be running toward the center. We’ll go the opposite way and head to the warehouse in the bottom-left corner to gather supplies first. We’ll head over once we’re geared up.” As Zhou Lin spoke, he tentatively observed Ji Xuan’s reaction.
Ji Xuan stared at that point for nearly half a minute. As if finally believing him, he said, “Alright.”
Only then did Zhou Lin breathe a sigh of relief. As he turned around, he discreetly patted his chest: “Then follow me. I move pretty fast, so keep up. Don’t get distracted and fall behind, or I’ll have to end up looking after you.”
A loud roar echoed in the distance, which was the special effects for a simulated volcanic eruption. The sky was instantly dyed a scorched orange.
The simulated training had officially begun.
Ji Xuan obediently followed Zhou Lin’s steps.
–
However, ten minutes later.
Inside the remote warehouse Zhou Lin had marked, several Alphas, their combat uniforms shredded to ribbons, were rolling on the ground in agony, limbs splayed.
“I was wondering why the training started with an order to split into teams. Turns out there was a pack of dogs hiding here beforehand.” An Alpha with broad shoulders and long legs kicked the last man over. His black tactical boots struck the concrete floor, kicking up a cloud of dust.
He cast a mischievous glance at the teammates, who stood behind him, not daring to utter a word. Propping himself up with one knee in a half-squat, he nonchalantly patted one of the fallen Alpha’s cheeks with the military knife in his hand.
“Do you know what this behavior is called?” he asked slowly, his voice carrying a chilling edge. “Passive training, bullying through numbers—truly shameless.”
“Brother Pei… Brother Pei, listen to me, we didn’t mean it,” the Alpha’s teammate hurriedly explained. “But Ji Xuan was really pushing it. We just wanted to vent some frustration for a friend.”
Hearing this, Pei Yingye let out a scoff. “Five, six, seven, eight Alphas hiding here planning to bully one Omega? Have you all been hit in the head by a cannonball?”
“You, you can’t put it like that, Brother Pei. That’s Lance Vaughan. Among all the Omegas in the military academy, only he and Ji Yan are the highest rank. If a soft, fragrant Omega came to you crying and looking pitiful, begging you to help him get revenge, you’d agree too…”
“…Lance?”
The teammate nodded quickly.
“Never heard of him. Not interested.”
As he spoke, his fingers flicked, and the military knife spun in his hand, flashing a cold light.
“Speak up. Should I send you on your way, or will you end your own misery?”
