THIP Chapter 46 V1

This was the first time Mu Liuyin had exited a mission world without leaving a single trace.

When she returned to the system space, she was still in a bit of a daze. Staring blankly at the mission interface where the words “Mission Complete” were displayed, she suddenly asked, “Why did I leave the mission world in that way?”

Xiao Jiu blinked its big, round cat eyes, looking rather indignant. The little kitten said angrily, “That mission target treated you like that—of course I had to do something!”

Having noticed the target’s feelings toward the host, Xiao Jiu had decided to take a bit of petty revenge on her.

Mu Liuyin reached out and picked up the kitten by the scruff, enunciating each word: “So you knew Jieyin had figured out who I was?”

“Mew~” Xiao Jiu responded pitifully, “I was forced into sleep mode, QAQ! I couldn’t tell you, Host-sama!”

Mu Liuyin gave a cold laugh. “Heh.”

She tossed Xiao Jiu to the floor. The little cat rolled twice and looked miserable.

“Who exactly are these mission targets?” Mu Liuyin stared at Xiao Jiu, her eyes cold and deep. Her voice dropped low and ominous. “Don’t tell me you don’t know.”

Xiao Jiu curled into a fuzzy ball, mumbling in a soft, boyish voice, “I can’t say.”

Can’t say?

What kind of existence is something even the system isn’t allowed to talk about?

And during special circumstances, the mission target could even suppress Xiao Jiu in the mission world.

Unless…

Mu Liuyin remembered what Xiao Jiu had told her after her first mission world—about the Supreme God.

But if the mission targets in each world were the Supreme God… why did they always seem to end up in such miserable situations within the storylines?

Xiao Jiu padded over and rubbed against her leg, meowing sweetly to curry favor. “Host-sama, you can take a look at what the mission target is up to now~”

Mu Liuyin gave a faint, unreadable smile. “Oh? And now I can look again?”

“That last world was an accident! QAQ,” Xiao Jiu said, clearly guilty.

The mission panel slowly expanded into an oval-shaped water mirror. Jieyin’s figure appeared clearly on the surface.

A single tear fell from her eyes, landing on the silver mask in her hand.

She picked up the mask, her thumb gently tracing its surface. Then she put it on, hiding the tear stains, along with the fleeting vulnerability in her expression.

Mu Liuyin watched silently as Jieyin walked away. She didn’t know what Jieyin would think about her sudden disappearance.

But she’d never been particularly curious. Mu Liuyin smiled faintly to herself, thinking her departure likely wouldn’t cause Jieyin any real harm.

Jieyin returned in silence to the Central Base, where she resumed her life under the identity of Feng Yan.

She began taking on missions constantly and slaughtered countless zombies.

There was never a task she couldn’t complete, no matter how strong the opponent or how deadly the zombie. She always came out alive.

Her powers continued to grow. She became more and more cold, to the point where just a glance from her could feel like being frozen in ice.

It was as if she had returned to the very beginning of the storyline—this, perhaps, was her true personality.

Feng Yan’s reputation grew until even Duan Qi could no longer compare to her.

Then one day, when zombies were threatening the city, she emerged like a fairy-tale savior and single-handedly killed the Zombie King commanding the horde.

She rightfully earned her title as the strongest being in the apocalypse.

Even though she never made it back alive.

Mu Liuyin’s throat tightened.

Everyone believed Jieyin had died alongside the Zombie King. But she alone knew—Jieyin wasn’t dead.

How could she bear to die?

The one she had been waiting for hadn’t returned yet.

She stayed alive because she was afraid that when the one she was waiting for finally came back, they wouldn’t be able to find her.

Jieyin had crossed mountains and rivers, yet still couldn’t find the person she had always been waiting for.

Living alone was how she punished herself for the wrongs she had once committed against that person.

Of course, she would never admit it—not even to herself—that the one she was waiting for was someone who would never come back.

The image in the water mirror rippled, Jieyin’s figure fading away, and the mirror once again became the pale blue mission interface.

Xiao Jiu lifted its little head, only to find that its host had somehow become covered in tears—yet she hadn’t noticed at all.

“Xiao Jiu, the serum,” Mu Liuyin said tiredly. After drinking the emotion suppressant, she immediately ordered Xiao Jiu to activate the next mission world.

There was a knock at the door, followed by the butler’s voice: “Miss, the car is ready.”

Having just clicked on the note, Mu Liuyin put on her coat and calmly stepped out the door.

Over two hours later, a low-key but luxurious black car pulled up outside a remote, dilapidated orphanage.

The orphanage’s director and staff, who had been told in advance of an important visitor, were already waiting at the door.

Smiling, the director welcomed Mu Liuyin inside, all while introducing the children.

Mu Liuyin’s gaze fell on the quiet, beautiful face that had appeared in the storyline. Her tone was calm. “It’s her?”

Okay the ending of this world made me even madder lol. She left so easily TT. Also why is she constantly being referred to with female pronouns when she is supposed to be a a man? Even when other people refer to her they often use she her and even “miss” in this chapter???
