It was late autumn. Though the days remained warm, the nights were chilled with sharp, biting winds. If the baby were to remain outside overnight, her life would surely be in danger.

Not long after, a white-robed immortal descended from the clouds.

The immortal walked to the basin and gently lifted the baby into his arms. With great care, he parted her clothing slightly, revealing a bright red Red Spider Lily mark on her collarbone.

Even redder than the cinnabar mark on her brow.

The white-robed immortal let out a quiet sigh.

Sensing something, the baby slowly opened her eyes. Her irises were a pale, transparent hue, like the finest glazed glass—clear and beautiful, still filled with the innocence of a newborn just entering the world.

Reflected in those glassy eyes was the young and handsome face of the immortal—his presence so extraordinary, even standing still, he radiated unmatched elegance and grace.

The immortal looked at the snow-white infant in his arms and said softly,
“From now on, you are my disciple.”

The baby stared at the striking immortal in a daze, then gave him a small smile before peacefully falling back asleep.

After bringing the child, his mission target, back to the Taiyan Sect and placing her in his bed, Mu Liuyin, the immortal, did one thing first: he used a spell to conceal the blood-red mark on her collarbone.

With a rare variant Thunder Spirit Root, a natural sword heart, and an emotionless nature, she was the most talented and promising cultivator in a thousand years, destined to ascend to immortality.

With such talent, barring any unexpected incidents, she was expected to ascend within a hundred years.

The secret exploded.

Mingli, then only at the Nascent Soul Stage, was imprisoned in the Astrolabe Tower. The righteous factions planned to destroy her soul in just a few days to eliminate the Demon Lord’s reincarnation.

Knowing this, the eight other great sects turned on the Taiyan Sect’s master. They questioned why he kept the secret and accused him of being corrupted by demonic energy himself. United, they tried to imprison him.
