Running different shops requires different skills. For shops near schools, all the time must be devoted to students.

 

It was not even six o’clock yet, but the sky was already getting light. Most of the shops around the No. 3 Central Primary School in City B still had their shutters drawn and were not open for business. Only the breakfast business took a long time and was prepared as it was for business.

They send their children in advance and leave them in the store at the door. When it is time for class, they let the children go to the classroom by themselves.

 

Therefore, for these old shops, they are still open at around seven o’clock, just like before, waiting for parents to drop off their children.They put a few chairs in the shop so they can sit in a row and have breakfast. Sometimes they can also sell some small things along the way. After all, children nowadays are different from before, and they all have a lot of pocket money.

 

In the past, Wu Liping would go out to buy breakfast, sit in the store and chat with her husband, and sort out the accounts. But now it is different from the past. She keeps staring blankly at the shelves.

 

“Mom.” Pei Tao also got up. She was so sleepy that she couldn’t even open her eyes. Sleeping on a chair overnight was not a good idea. Seeing that her daughter had finished up, Wu Liping walked to the door, unlocked it, and pulled up it up and closed the shutter door. Next to the green belt, there are several stone benches for passers-by to rest. Opposite the stone bench facing the Tiantao Stationery Store, there is a man who is particularly familiar to the mother and daughter.

Pei Tao could feel her body beginning to tremble uncontrollably. She wanted to rush over, grab the man by the collar, and question him, asking him how he could be so nonchalant, as if nothing had happened?

 

“Come in.” Wu Liping had a cold face and no expression. After her husband entered the stationery store, she used all her strength to completely close the shutter door, isolating everything outside. The inside was dark again. Pei Tao followed her mother quietly and turned on the lights in the stationery store. The incandescent lamps were bright. The shop was lit up. The three of them stood in two places respectively. The distance between them was not far, but it seemed as far away as a chasm.

 

“I…I’m back.”

 

When Pei Tao heard this, she immediately turned away. She stabbed her palms with her nails, reminding herself that she must not be soft-hearted. What was the point of coming back? She and her mother didn’t need him anymore, never again. She would never have any expectations of her father again!
