Everyone came here for leisure; they were all young scions of wealthy families, naturally competing to outdo one another in indulgence. Ji Jiaxun, with his quick wit and knack for causing trouble without getting caught, had solidified his position as their leader. The others followed him unquestioningly.
This was the first time any of them had heard someone say that “Brother Ji” was about to face trouble.
The other two immediately burst into laughter. “You’ve got to be joking!”
Ji Jiaxun, who had been visibly irritated, now wore a smirk. Raising an eyebrow, he demanded, “Spit it out—what’s going on?”
Qi Haolin swallowed nervously. “You’ll know in just a moment.”
Ji Jiaxun frowned. “Huh???”
Before he could respond further, Qi Haolin began counting down, “Five, four, three, two, one!”
The others stared at him, baffled.
Just as he reached one, the door to their room swung open. A figure clad in fiery red appeared, the bold shade accentuating her already striking beauty. Her crimson lips further sharpened the cold and commanding expression on her face. Head held high, back straight, she radiated an unapproachable aura.
Ji Jiaxun, who had been lounging casually, sprang to his feet in shock. “What are you doing here?!”
The other three stumbled to stand as well, stammering, “S-s-sister-in-law…”
One of the women sitting on Shi Yibin’s lap was jolted so abruptly that she tumbled to the floor with a yelp. “Ouch…” she whimpered, her voice laced with coquettish pain.
But no one paid her any mind. All eyes were glued to the woman standing in the doorway.
…
Yan Qing cast a sweeping glance around the room.
Good. Though there were women present, none were near Ji Jiaxun. His appearance and clothes were intact and tidy.
Her worry eased slightly. Her expression still cold, she locked eyes with Ji Jiaxun and commanded, “Come back with me.”
Talking to someone like Ji Jiaxun—the local tyrant who feared no one but the imperial family—required no polite words. And Yan Qing had no patience for pleasantries either. Skipping out on their wedding night? How dare he?
“You think you can order me around?” Ji Jiaxun glared at her, his face hard. “Do you believe I won’t divorce you right now?!”
Yan Qing took two steps forward, the wooden stick in her hand dragging audibly along the ground with her movements.
As she advanced, the boys instinctively stepped back, leaving Ji Jiaxun standing alone.
Behind him, the three exchanged a glance, each seeing the same look of admiration in the others’ eyes.
Amazing!
No wonder he’s the boss!
Even in a situation like this, he’s holding his ground.
But in truth, Ji Jiaxun felt a chill run down his spine.
This woman—despite being shorter than him, barely reaching his chin—exuded an aura uncannily similar to his mother’s when she was enraged. Overbearing yet not repulsive, her presence was genuinely intimidating.
Yan Qing scanned him from head to toe. “If you’re serious about divorcing me, write the letter of divorce now. Otherwise, come with me.”
A divorce letter?
Ji Jiaxun’s mouth twitched. That had just been an angry outburst.
If he wrote a divorce letter, it would be equivalent to defying the emperor’s decree, putting his entire family at risk. As unruly as he was, even Ji Jiaxun wouldn’t dare challenge the imperial authority.
He pursed his lips and stepped closer, looking down at her with narrowed eyes. “I’m not going back.”
“Why not?” Yan Qing asked, her tone icy.
A sly smile spread across Ji Jiaxun’s face as he gestured toward the woman now standing awkwardly off to the side. “Isn’t it obvious? There are plenty of beauties here.”
He smirked at her, waiting to see how she would respond.
But when his gaze settled on her face, he paused, his expression flickering with a moment of genuine surprise.
Truthfully, this woman… was stunning.
She was entirely his type.
Yet, the thought of her previous actions immediately reignited his irritation.
Yan Qing followed his gaze briefly before returning her calm, piercing eyes to him. “If you truly like them so much, go ahead—touch them in front of me. I swear I won’t interfere.”
Ji Jiaxun froze for a second, processing her words, and then his face turned crimson. He almost jumped in place, shouting, “You—how shameless can you be?!”
Yan Qing wasn’t interested in arguing further. By now, the commotion had drawn plenty of onlookers. Even with the doors closed, it was clear many were eavesdropping outside.
She raised her voice. “So? Dare to try?”
“You… you…!” Ji Jiaxun stammered, his face flushed with both anger and embarrassment. He had no idea how to respond.
Seeing his hesitation, Yan Qing confirmed her suspicions. She stepped forward to grab him, but he instinctively dodged.
Her movements paused, and she raised her right hand. The wooden stick, about three feet long, gleamed as it came fully into view.
“Pick one,” she said.
The three boys behind him: “!!!”
Ji Jiaxun: “…”
His expression shifted repeatedly before he finally pointed at her, growling, “Don’t think I won’t hit a woman!”
Yan Qing offered him a cold, sardonic smile and repeated sharply, “Pick one!”
Her tone was commanding, and the volume startled Ji Jiaxun, causing him to flinch.
Faced with her unyielding stance, Ji Jiaxun gritted his teeth, muttering through clenched jaws, “Fine. I’ll go home.”
Yan Qing extended her hand toward him, raising an eyebrow as if daring him to defy her further. “Hold my hand.”
Ji Jiaxun’s face burned even brighter as he snapped, “Don’t push your luck!”
Yan Qing’s voice remained steady and chilling. “Shall we test whether this stick can prevent you from leaving the building?”
“…”
Ji Jiaxun surrendered, reluctantly extending his hand to clasp her delicate, soft hand.
