SRTT Chapter 37.4

The living conditions in the disaster relief camp were poor and there were so many people that you had to be careful of others when eating. Things were often stolen.

But, not having to worry about freezing to death was enough to attract people.

After hearing the news, even the leader of the Self-Help Association, Chen, was moved. Yesterday, he took the last six members to leave the community and go to the disaster relief camp.

You Dafu and Zhu Liangliang’s families also moved out of the building.

Wen Mei, on the other hand, chose to stay and seemed determined to follow Ruan Ning.

Ruan Ning still promised to give her a piece of compressed biscuit every day.

The four of them went down to the sixth floor. Ruan Ning prepared to put on her skates.

Cheng Jili said quickly: “Let’s change it after we leave the community. There are too many bodies outside, so we can’t skate at all.”

Ruan Ning put away her skates and lowered her eyes.

Cheng Jili comforted her, “Zhu Liangliang said that once the camp is moved, the government will find a way to cremate these bodies in a centralized manner. You don’t have to worry.”

Ruan Ning shook her head and asked, “Where are we going today?”

Cheng Jikuan said, “Let’s go to the office building we visited last time. There should be some tables, chairs, and benches inside, and there’s also a small market there. Let’s see if we can exchange some things with them.”

The four of them set off together. Because of the powerful weapon, the roller skates, they reached their destination in less than ten minutes.

Cheng Jili felt so cold that her ears were almost blown off.

Ruan Ning saw that she was wearing a plush hat and a three-layer scarf, so she reached her hand in and touched her ears.

Cheng Jili asked curiously: “Ning Ning, are your hands cold or hot? Why can’t I feel it?”

Ruan Ning looked at the office building in front of her. It was about thirty floors high and was built on a suburban avenue. No wonder it had not been looted yet.

Cheng Jikuan said: “The small market is on the eighth floor, in the corridor.”

Ruan Ning nodded.

They walked into the office building. On the eighth floor, Cheng Jikuan walked up to Ruan Ning and whispered, “Did you see the man holding the banner Wu Trading written on it? He was the one who sold the coal stove to me.”

Ruan Ning turned her head and looked over. She saw a skinny man sitting under the banner. He looked to be in his forties or fifties and was wearing a dirty coat. He was looking around for a trading target.

Cheng Jikuan said: “Let’s go find something first and come back to take a look later.”

Ruan Ning hummed.

There were many people going to the disaster relief camp, but there were still also many people outside. This office building was not quiet, and there were clanging sounds on every floor.

Ruan Ning and Ruan Cifeng searched seven or eight rooms on the seventeenth floor and finally found a room with two large tables left.

Ruan Cifeng’s face lit up with joy. He quickly took out a screwdriver to tighten the screws.

Ruan Ning lowered her voice and said, “Dad, please stay here for a while. If someone tries to take your territory, just give way. We don’t lack wood.”

Ruan Cifeng asked: “Where are you going?”

Ruan Ning: “I want to go to that Wu Trading and see if I can negotiate a deal.”

Ruan Cifeng hesitated for a while, but he thought that his daughter was alive and well even though he hadn’t been around her for three months. She was much better than him.
