After searching three more villas in succession, the sky gradually darkened.

Cheng Jikuan came to Ruan Ning with a lot of things and said: “There are too many things. We will definitely not be able to transport them all today. How about we rest here for the night?”

Ruan Ning thought for a while and said: “That’s good, but Jili won’t be worried about us, right? Otherwise, we can go back and come back again tomorrow.”

Cheng Jikuan smiled and said, “You sit down for a while. I’ll go boil some hot water.”

The natural gas and electricity in the villa had been cut off long ago, so the only way to boil water was to use an open fire.

Cheng Jikuan found someone’s toolbox in the pile of supplies, took out an ax from it, hopped up all the chairs in the living room, and put them in the fireplace to light a fire.

With the fire, the room suddenly lit up.

Ruan Ning felt a touch of warmth.

Cheng Jikuan brought a few more pots from the kitchen and placed the largest one next to the fireplace to boil water. He used the other two to wash the rice and sausages, add diced carrots, and make a simple clay pot rice.

He also found some durable cabbage in these kitchens. Cheng Jikuan picked half of it, washed it, and planned to add it to the clay pot rice.

Ruan Ning sighed: “You have so much energy.”

Cheng Jikuan paused as he was adding firewood: “I’ve been used to it since I was a child. It was even more tiring to practice when I was a kid.”

Ruan Ning wanted to help, but her physical condition couldn’t keep up. If she wasn’t hungry, she would have wanted to lie down and sleep.

Cheng Jikuan turned around after putting down the firewood and asked, “Would you like to eat some fruit first? I found some oranges and apples in one of the villas.”

Ruan Ning hesitated: “Forget it.”

Seeing that she didn’t want to move, Cheng Jikuan stood up, took two oranges, cut them in half, and handed them to Ruan Ning.

Ruan Ning asked: “Don’t you want to eat?”

Cheng Jikuan shook his head and said, “You and Jili can eat the fruit. I don’t need it.”

Ruan Ning said: “You are very good to your sister.”
