Upon hearing this, Yi Qingqing quickly said, “The college entrance examination was reinstated last October. Not only could educated youth take the exam and return to their hometowns, but many intellectuals also returned one after another. The houses have all been returned to their owners. Things will only get better from now on. Those things will never happen again. When you, Masters, are reincarnated, it will be a prosperous and peaceful era, and our motherland will become increasingly wealthy and powerful!”
“Great! Great! That’s wonderful!”
The four masters were moved to tears upon hearing this. Although they did not live to see this day, they believed that they could see this prosperous era in their next life, which was the greatest comfort.
Even though they suffered unfair treatment and died in despair, they still loved this country. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have given up their comfortable lives abroad and returned after completing their studies.
Since this topic had come up, Yi Qingqing still needed to report her recent situation and studies to her masters.
In her previous dreams, she had noticed that her masters were quite concerned about this, and there was even a hint of them arguing among themselves to encourage her to study more.
“This year, this student took the college entrance examination and was admitted to the pharmaceutical engineering major at Beijing University. In the future, I want to use my knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine to contribute to my country’s pharmaceutical industry and research effective drugs.”
“Unfortunately, traditional Chinese medicine eventually declined, and in the decades that followed, Western medicine became dominant.”
“Master Yi, I am not confident that I can change this situation, but I promise that I will study traditional Chinese medicine well and pass it on when the time is right. I believe that one day it will shine with its due brilliance.”
“Because of some serendipitous encounters, I have more time to study than most people.”
“However, after starting university, I had much less free time.”
“Normally, I spend about five or six hours each on studying traditional Chinese medicine and pharmaceuticals on each study day, for a total of about twelve hours.”
“This year, I’ve started learning how to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine. This is my recent pulse diagnosis record; I’m sending it to you, so you can take a look and put your mind at ease.”
The medical record was tossed into the brazier, where it was consumed by the flames. It quickly reached Old Mr. Yi’s hands. He glanced at it casually and knew just how hard the young girl had worked. He stroked his beard and laughed heartily.
“Haha, I knew Qingqing had good judgment. Boy, tell her I don’t expect her to carry on traditional Chinese medicine. Given the current situation, individual efforts are too weak to force. Her choice to use medicine as a roundabout way to apply her knowledge is clever. As long as she protects herself, studies diligently, and carries on the knowledge of our ancestors, I will die without regrets!”
“She studies twelve hours a day. Even when I was an apprentice, I never worked this hard. Tell the young girl not to push herself too hard. I’m very happy to have such a disciple!”
Yun Guyuan quietly relayed Old Mr. Yi’s words.
Yi Qingqing breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that her master didn’t mind that she studied traditional Chinese medicine, but had no intention of practicing medicine.
When the other three masters heard that she was studying traditional Chinese medicine and pharmaceuticals, which would take up twelve hours of her time every day, they knew that she had very little time left to study other things.
Of the three teachers, only the music teacher, Zheng Shaoyin, was more open-minded. She comforted them, saying, “Old Wang, Old Lin, there’s nothing wrong with Qingqing’s ambition to study medicine. The country needs such talents. Our knowledge is not like Old Mr. Yi’s traditional Chinese medicine, which faces a crisis of inheritance. As living conditions improve, art will flourish. On the other hand, traditional Chinese medicine is facing a much more difficult situation, as its space for survival is being squeezed out by Western medicine.”

I will really appreciate it. ♥️♥️♥️

I’m always confused by these recurring elements. I guess propaganda has a life of its own. Putting aside that TCM in novels ought to translate to Traditional Chinese Magic rather than Medicine. This insistence on calling science based medicine “western medicine” and pushing the narrative that it’s suppressing TCM in other words the evil non-Chinese bullying the Chinese is ultimately doing a disservice to all the Chinese researchers in the field imo.
