Shrank to a 3-Years-Old Child Chapter 122: The Girl Qingqing
A familiar scent lingered around her nose, a touch of quick warmth and embarrassment.
A clear sigh reached her ears, the sound of a man sighing in relief.
“Why are you here?” Gu Lan questioned Qingqing, stunned by the embrace, before she could utter a single word.
“I was worried about you guys.” He tightened his arms around Qingqing, and Fu Heng’s heart finally settled.
“…Oh.” He wanted to say, “You’re just worried about my sister,” but thinking that would sound like a nagging question.
And at least they’d risked their lives to come. Though Gu Lan’s face betrayed disdain, he felt gratitude.
At least, after all the disaster, seeing familiar family members brought a warm and joyful feeling to his heart.
“I think the air and rail services in G City are probably down right now. How did you get here, brother?” Wang Shuzhi asked curiously, leaning closer to Fu Heng.
As Gu Lan’s best friend, he’d met Fu Heng a few times. They weren’t exactly close, but they could be considered acquaintances.
Especially after his eldest son entered the entertainment industry, Chairman Fu had sent him a message, asking for his help in looking after him.
It was simply a matter of convenience, so Wang Shuzhi agreed on the spot.
Later, he didn’t actually take much care of Fu Sijin, mainly because the boy’s skills were so exceptional that even Wang Shuzhi, a seasoned entertainment industry veteran, couldn’t help but give him a thumbs-up, praising him, “Brilliant!”
Because of these past encounters, Wang Shuzhi felt he and Fu Heng had a degree of rapport, so he asked casually. Fortunately, Fu Heng didn’t take it seriously.
He replied without hesitation, “Flights and trains aren’t working, but the highways aren’t blocked.”
So they could still drive here.
However, the drive from their location to City G took over ten hours.
Fu Heng and his companions set out almost immediately upon receiving the news, working through the night to make the journey.
Gu Lan glanced at Fu Heng’s eyes. The weariness wasn’t obvious, but it was still noticeable. His eyes were bloodshot, a sign of a sleepless night.
“We’ll call you once we’re out of this, so you don’t have to…”
Before he could finish his awkward words of concern, Fu Heng abruptly interrupted him.
“I’m worried about you. If I’m just supposed to stay somewhere safe and wait for news from you, who knows when you’ll return, I’d rather come here and check it out myself.”
And who knows if that news will be bad ?
Gu Lan fell silent. He glanced at Qingqing in Fu Heng’s arms, but again said nothing. He simply walked towards the SUV that Fu Heng and his friends had driven over. “Those two guys are in there, right? I’ll go check.”
The older ones were already here, so how could the younger ones not follow?
Gu Lan left on his own, leaving Fu Heng and Qingqing some time alone.
Wang Shuzhi was also pulled away by his cousin, his manager, to prevent the erratic guy from being a third wheel.
“Qingqing.” Sensing the little body in his arms trembling slightly, Fu Heng gently lifted her little face with one hand.
Not surprisingly, he saw tear marks on her face, and a look of panic.
“Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
Just five words, Qingqing screamed and suddenly threw herself into Fu Heng’s arms and burst into tears.
“I’m scared… Qingqing is so scared.”
The choked childish words were filled with fear and terror. She seemed to have returned to the time when she had just become small. The young child faced the terrible changes and had no idea how to protect herself. She could only cry helplessly.
Hearing her crying made his heart ache.
He hurriedly and gently comforted her. After a long time of coaxing, he finally calmed down the little ancestor’s emotions.
“Uncle… Fu Heng, why are you back here?”
Fu Heng laughed helplessly. It seemed that everyone liked to ask this question when they saw him.
His answer this time was different from the previous two: “Because I love you.”
Because of love, he was worried, unable to wait alone in the safe zone. He would rather risk his life and rush to the front lines to find his beloved.
Miraculously, Qingqing understood Fu Heng’s implication. She stared at him blankly for a moment, then suddenly spoke out of nowhere.
“Gu Qingqing is twelve years old this year.”
Before Fu Heng could respond, Qingqing continued, “I met you at my brother’s full moon banquet.”
The young man in the black suit was thin and aloof, yet already dazzling at such a young age. Strolling among the many well-dressed guests, his simplest attire made him the center of attention.
He was also the only one in the eyes of the young Gu Qingqing.
He was surprised that Qingqing would mention this. He was slightly startled, then chuckled softly, his deep, sexy voice filled with indescribable joy.
“I’ve seen you before, but only at your full-month banquet.”
He hadn’t noticed Gu Qingqing, one of the hosts, at Gu Lan’s full-month banquet. But at Gu Qingqing’s, while holding his mother’s hand, his eyes were riveted to the rosy-skinned little creature in the crib.
The reason was simple: it was the first time he’d ever seen such a tiny baby.
Tiny, its hands no bigger than an adult’s finger, it looked as if it would break at the slightest touch.
At the time, the young Fu Heng had once asked his mother in a childish voice, “Will the little sister get hurt?”
He’d seen so many child-loving guests unable to resist, their hands constantly on the little baby, and he was filled with worry.
He could still remember his mother’s gentle voice echoing in his ears: “If Ah Heng is worried, go and protect the little sister, okay?”
“Okay.” Then he stood firmly by the crib, occupying his spot beside Gu Qingqing, refusing to let anyone else touch her.
He did, however, secretly touch her several times.
The baby was soft and fluffy, its skin so tender and smooth, as if it had no bones.
“So our connection started even earlier than I thought,” Qingqing said with a sly glint in her eyes.
Suddenly, she tiptoed and kissed Fu Heng on the cheek.
Facing Fu Heng’s shocked expression, she said uncomfortably, “Since we’re married, it’s probably okay for me to kiss my own husband.”
She was a bit mischievous and playful as a young girl, her lively demeanor reminiscent of when they first met in college.
Staring at Qingqing’s rosy lips, Fu Heng’s throat twitched slightly, but he forced himself to look away. “Don’t do that again next time.”
“Why?” Qingqing pouted, a bit coquettishly. “I just wanted to kiss you.”
The twelve-year-old girl was perfectly content with her future husband. They were already married, so why wouldn’t she do anything for her family now?
“You’re still young,” Fu Heng said, rubbing Qingqing’s head to suppress his slight dissatisfaction.
“Hmph.” Qingqing snorted softly and turned and ran away: “I’m going to see my sons.”
At only twelve, she already had two sons over twenty years old. Qingqing found this quite novel.
The urge to have fun took over, and even though she had all the memories of her past, she still wanted to go and see… well, her own sons.
The Fu brothers were talking to Gu Lan, their hair all messy.
They had taken turns driving all night, and in the morning, unable to resist the sleepiness, they both fell asleep in the car, leaving their father behind to drive.
Unexpectedly, when they woke up, their father was so efficient that he had actually found the person.
“Son!”
The voice arrived before the person even showed up. A slender figure came running from afar, nimbly passing Gu Lan, who was blocking the car door, and threw himself directly into the arms of the Fu brothers.
“Qingqing?”
Fu Sijin caught Qingqing in surprise, puzzled by her sudden enthusiasm.
He had just heard from his uncle that his mother had been quite frightened. Shouldn’t he be comforted by his father now?
“You’re so disrespectful! Call me Mom!”
Qingqing scrambled to her feet, hands on her hips, and urged her sons to call her “Mom.”
“Mom,” Fu Sishen called out blankly, then realized something was wrong. He quickly pulled his brother from the backseat and peered out to look Qingqing up and down, his eyes filled with unconcealed joy.
“Mom, have you regained your memory?!”
“No.”
That one sentence sent Fu Sishen careening from heaven to hell, only to be brought back to earth again with the next: “But I’ve regained my memories before I was twelve.”
Twelve was a turning point in Qingqing’s life.
At this age, she left the confines of elementary school and became a junior high student, taking her first steps into the adult world. It was also at this age that she had a younger brother, Gu Lan.
Gu Lan’s eyes trembled, his fingertips moving with excitement: “You…”
The words caught in his throat, and he suddenly didn’t know what to say.
It was Qingqing who, hearing the noise behind her, turned and gave him a big hug, her tone filled with unconcealed relief and pride.
“Brother, you’ve grown so big! I remember you were only this small yesterday, crying for milk every day.”
She gestured with her hands, making a small outline. Gu Lan’s lips twitched slightly, his dark expression fading from his excitement as he said coldly, “I haven’t needed milk for a long time.”
He suddenly felt that there was something wrong with his sister regaining her memory.
This person must remember a lot of his dark past. He didn’t want it all to be dug up, did he?
If so…
Gu Lan couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t kill his own sister.
Keenly sensing Gu Lan’s rebellious nature, Qingqing raised her head sharply, “You can’t beat me.”
With a single finger, she could pin her brother, who was twice her size.
Gu Lan: “…”
Comparing their current heights and builds, Gu Lan had to brutally admit the truth: “You can’t beat me right now.”
Gu Qingqing: “…”
As expected, it’s best to hit your brother early. As the old saying goes, don’t bully me.
“Mom, you’ve spoken your mind,” Fu Sijin poked Qingqing in the waist from behind, whispering a warning.
“I heard that.” Gu Lan glanced coldly, and the two older nephews immediately ducked into the car, leaving their mother outside to face their volatile uncle alone.
As expected of a biological child.
Luckily, Qingqing had the good sense to slip away when she realized something was amiss.
She ran behind Fu Heng for protection. They were both about the same height, and with her help, they should be able to outmaneuver Gu Lan, right?
“Naughty.” With a loving tap on Qingqing’s perky nose, Fu Heng took her hand and, with a gentle yet firm touch, led her back to the car.
“What do we do next?” Gu Lan asked, but he already had the answer.
Fu Heng’s response was matter-of-fact: “Since we’re here, we have to help.”
“I want to help too.”
At the mention of this, Qingqing quickly popped her head out from behind Fu Heng, only to be glared at by Gu Lan and quickly retreated.
Like a mole struck by a hammer.
The Fu brothers looked at each other and said in unison: “We will help too.” They are all compatriots. How could they stand by and watch their compatriots die?
