While Lin Ye went to take a bath, Yun Jiu hurriedly hid the book that was still lying on the bed. He had completely forgotten about it just now. He was terrified that if Lin Ye saw it, he wouldn’t know how to explain himself.
Yun Jiu waited in the room for quite a while, but Lin Ye still hadn’t come out. He couldn’t help but start worrying.
There was a small partitioned area in Lin Ye’s room that he usually used for bathing.
Yun Jiu walked to the doorway and called softly, “Lin Ye? A-are you finished?”
He waited for a while, but there was no answer.
Yun Jiu immediately panicked. Without thinking about anything else, he pushed the door open and hurried inside.
Then he saw that Lin Ye had actually fallen asleep sitting in the wooden tub.
Yun Jiu walked over and tested the water temperature. Fortunately, the water was still warm. Otherwise, falling asleep like this could easily make Lin Ye catch a chill.
Yun Jiu knew that Lin Ye had truly exhausted himself over the past few days. Looking at him sleeping so peacefully, Yun Jiu couldn’t bear to wake him just like that, so he hesitated over whether he should carry him out. However, when his gaze accidentally fell upon Lin Ye’s strong, well-proportioned body, the warmth that had only just faded from Yun Jiu’s face rose again.
Lin Ye had a tall, slender build with a lean, solid strength to him. It was like the graceful, powerful physique of a hunting leopard, his muscles forming smooth curves while holding a sense of explosive strength. Lin Ye’s complexion was also several shades fairer than that of most men. Although his skin was very pale, it wasn’t the unhealthy pallor of illness. Instead, it was a lively fairness with a healthy flush.
As Lin Ye slept so peacefully, the water concealed most of his chest, leaving only his delicate collarbones exposed. Tiny droplets of water occasionally fell from his hair, mischievously tracing down his attractive skin before disappearing into the warm water.
Yun Jiu’s gaze lingered on Lin Ye’s beautiful collarbones, and for a moment, he didn’t know what to do. He wanted to simply sit there and watch Lin Ye sleep, yet he was worried that Lin Ye might catch a chill.
In the end, reason won out. Yun Jiu took a deep breath and carefully reached his hands into the water. Then, as he cautiously lifted Lin Ye up, he kept repeating silently to himself: Don’t think about it. Don’t think about it.
But the sensation coming from his palms was simply too pleasant. Unable to resist, he lightly rubbed Lin Ye’s leg. That brief moment of indulging himself nearly caused Yun Jiu to lose his grip—the unexpectedly pleasant feel almost made his hands go weak, and he nearly dropped the person in his arms.
Fortunately, Yun Jiu had been feeling much healthier lately, so he managed not to accidentally throw his husband onto the floor. Still, the fact remained that Lin Ye was heavy. Holding his breath, Yun Jiu carefully carried Lin Ye all the way to the bed and only let out a huge sigh of relief once he had safely laid him down.
Looking at Lin Ye lying on the bed after being carried there by him, Yun Jiu felt incredibly proud of himself. But before he could enjoy that feeling for long, the person who had been sleeping soundly suddenly opened his eyes.
Lin Ye reached out and pulled Yun Jiu toward him. The proud expression on Yun Jiu’s face hadn’t even faded when the sudden tug startled him.
Yun Jiu instinctively tried to struggle, but then he heard Lin Ye say gently, “I’m exhausted today. Let me hold you while I sleep for a while.”
Hearing this, Yun Jiu immediately felt sorry for Lin Ye. He obediently went along with him and lay down beside him. However, once they were actually lying down, neither of them could fall asleep.
Lin Ye kept his eyes closed and continued pretending to sleep, while reminding himself that he needed to rest. There would be plenty of time for everything else later. What he needed most right now was sleep. Neither of them could actually fall asleep, yet they were remarkably in sync in pretending that they had.
Eventually, Yun Jiu’s hands and feet began to go numb, so he cautiously moved a little. He nervously opened his eyes and glanced at Lin Ye. Seeing that Lin Ye was still sleeping peacefully, his breathing long and steady, Yun Jiu quietly relaxed.
After his bath, that faint, pleasant scent of grass and wood had returned to Lin Ye. The moment Yun Jiu caught that familiar fragrance, his whole body relaxed. He carefully reached out, wrapped his arms around Lin Ye’s waist, and happily buried his face against Lin Ye’s chest.
Lin Ye, who had never actually fallen asleep, couldn’t help but curl his lips into a tender smile.
The next morning, Lin Ye was awakened by an almost imperceptibly light kiss. The moment Yun Jiu realized that Lin Ye’s eyelashes were beginning to tremble, he immediately closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep.
Lin Ye blinked his long, thick eyelashes and looked toward the person beside him. He immediately saw the expression on Yun Jiu’s face that practically screamed, I’m asleep. I’m asleep. You didn’t see anything. You know nothing.
The sleepy Lin Ye was instantly charmed by how adorable he looked. With one sudden movement, he rolled over and pinned Yun Jiu beneath him.
Caught red-handed, Yun Jiu was thrown into complete panic. He stammered nervously, “No, no.”
Looking down at Yun Jiu’s expression, Lin Ye couldn’t help bursting into laughter. “What do you think I’m going to do? Do I really look that much like a beast?”
Yun Jiu looked at him innocently. He really wanted to say yes, but he was afraid of making Lin Ye angry, so he could only stare at him foolishly with his wide eyes.
Yun Jiu’s face truly wasn’t as delicate and handsome as those other gers, but he had a charm uniquely his own.
For instance, when he looked at Lin Ye now, his eyes no longer had the numb emptiness they once carried. Instead, they sparkled with a hint of cleverness and liveliness.
Yun Jiu’s lips were actually quite beautiful. They looked slightly thin, but their natural curve was smooth and well-defined. In modern terms, he had the kind of handsome, cool-looking appearance that could easily be called the “cool guy” type. Yet when that face was paired with his somewhat innocent expression, it made him especially tempting to tease.
Lin Ye gazed deeply at Yun Jiu’s lips and reached out to hold his chin. At first, Lin Ye genuinely only wanted to take a good look at him and had no other intentions. But suddenly, inappropriate images flashed through his mind. In those imagined scenes, Yun Jiu was biting his lower lip tightly, making low, restrained sounds of breathlessness. The memory was like a spell, making Lin Ye’s head throb faintly.
By the time Lin Ye came back to his senses, he had already pulled away from Yun Jiu’s lips.
Yun Jiu stared at him with wide eyes, feeling the warmth that still lingered on his lips. Lin Ye had kissed him so gently, yet Yun Jiu felt as though his lips were burning, hot like they were on fire. When he had secretly kissed Lin Ye himself earlier, the sensation hadn’t been nearly this intense. But when Lin Ye took the initiative to kiss him, Yun Jiu felt as though he could barely breathe.
Without thinking, Yun Jiu licked his lips. Little did he know that the innocent little gesture was once again testing the self-control of someone whose resolve was already wavering.
“I’m seriously starting to wonder whether you’re naturally clueless or deliberately trying to tease me,” Lin Ye murmured hoarsely beside Yun Jiu’s ear.
Then, as if taking out a little of his pent-up frustration, he kissed the tender spot behind Yun Jiu’s ear. Yun Jiu instantly stiffened as though someone had pressed a pressure point, and he couldn’t help struggling.
But Lin Ye had just gotten a taste of what he wanted. Using both arms and legs, he held Yun Jiu firmly in place, pulled the quilt over the two of them, and prepared to do something rather unsuitable for children. However, before the two could really get carried away, someone came laughing and joking to look for Lin Ye.
Yun Mengyang had deliberately brought people over to interrupt Lin Ye’s pleasant morning, completely unaware that he was interrupting the newlywed couple’s “morning exercise.”
When Lin Ye came out, he was getting dressed with a dark expression on his face, looking unmistakably like a man whose desires had been left thoroughly unsatisfied.
The moment Yun Mengyang saw Lin Ye’s expression, he couldn’t resist teasing him. “Lin Ye, what time did you two stay up until last night? You look like you didn’t sleep well.”
How could Lin Ye possibly tell him that they had both been exhausted the previous night and hadn’t actually done anything?
He could only force a faint smile. Meanwhile, Sanzi was grinning foolishly to himself, as though he were the one who had just gotten married.
At that moment, Yun Jiu also came out of the room. When he saw quite a few men standing in the courtyard, everyone immediately looked at him with curious expressions.
Lin Ye cleared his throat. “Whatever it is, let’s talk about it out front.”
The group followed Lin Ye. One of the men couldn’t help saying, “Why do I feel like Yun Jiu is getting better-looking and better-looking?”
Hearing this, Yun Mengyang turned back uncertainly to look at Yun Jiu. Before he could figure out what exactly looked different, Lin Ye slapped a hand over his face and firmly turned his head back around.
Yun Mengyang pretended to be annoyed and complained loudly, “Lin Ye, seriously? What’s the harm in looking at him? Is he going to lose a piece of flesh?”
Everyone burst out laughing at that, while Lin Ye suddenly felt his face grow warm.
Yun Jiu didn’t understand what they were talking about, but since they kept sneaking glances at him, he knew it must have something to do with him. He hurriedly turned around and went into the kitchen, intending to make something delicious for Lin Ye.
Once he entered the kitchen, he discovered that Lin A-Mo had already left them some food. Looking at the generous spread of dishes, Yun Jiu secretly thought to himself: Next time, I must get up earlier. I can’t let A-Mo do everything for us.
Yun Mengyang and the others had really only come over to have a bit of fun at Lin Ye’s expense, so they soon dispersed and left.
Lin A-Mo was sitting in the covered walkway by the doorway, enjoying the warm sunshine while making some tiny clothes with Sanzi A-Mo.
After seeing everyone off, Lin Ye passed by. When he noticed the beginnings of the tiny clothes, he couldn’t help saying, “A-Mo, we haven’t even seen the first sign of a child yet. Why have you already started making clothes?”
Sanzi A-Mo couldn’t help laughing. Pointing at Lin Ye, he said, “You’ve already married your ger. Isn’t having a child just a matter of time?”
Lin A-Mo was in an excellent mood, his face full of smiles. “Exactly. If we wait until he’s actually pregnant to start preparing, it’ll be too late.”
Lin Ye really couldn’t understand what was going on in these A-Mo’s minds. He had only just brought his ger home and hadn’t even had a chance to properly enjoy some time alone with his husband. He certainly didn’t want a ten-million-volt light bulb joining them so soon.
Seeing right through Lin Ye’s thoughts, Sanzi A-Mo added, “What are you afraid of? Once the child is born, your A-Mo will take care of him, won’t he?”
