TSFLIP Chapter 999

Xia Chao and Wang Ci left, their backs anything but relaxed.

Fengguang sat back down on the bed. She had no appetite for the food the Council had sent—not even a bite—though she was so hungry she felt dizzy. Still, for the sake of the child in her womb, she endured the nausea and forced herself to drink the blood the Council had provided.

Since they had given her three days, they wouldn’t tamper with her food during that time. The Council might delight in breaking up lovers, but they weren’t that despicable.

She had been completely cornered, with no idea what to do. The only thing that gave her any comfort was that Ming’an hadn’t been exposed. She prayed that he could pretend he knew nothing about this—pray that he would never come to the Council.

But Fengguang’s prayer went unanswered.

The Council’s main hall welcomed a visitor today—an uninvited one at that.

The elders, who had been in the middle of a meeting, fell silent. They stared at the man who swaggered in through the doors, exchanging uneasy glances.

Without their permission, no one could break in—especially not someone who wasn’t even registered. And certainly not a vampire hunter.

The calmest among them was Mo Feng. He rose to his feet, observing proper courtesy, then asked the question everyone wanted to ask. “Mr. Ming’an, what brings you here?”

“Oh, sorry.” Ming’an looked as languid and careless as ever. He scratched his head and said apologetically, “I’m really sorry to interrupt your meeting.”

He casually took a seat across from Mo Feng, making it clear that his apology was nothing more than polite words.

Some of the elders began to voice their dissatisfaction. They did not deny Ming’an’s contributions to the Council and the Hunters’ Association over the years. But in the end, he was still on the vampire hunters’ side. For him to behave so recklessly on the Council’s territory was simply too arrogant.

The only one who remained unfazed was probably still Mo Feng. He sat back down as well. Even after sensing the man’s hostile intent, he maintained a pleasant expression and asked, “May I ask what urgent matter brings you to the Council so suddenly, Mr. Ming’an?”

“Urgent matter? No, no…” Ming’an chuckled softly. “I’m just here to take my wife home.”

For a moment, no one understood.

Ming’an shrugged helplessly. “You old bachelors wouldn’t get it. Once you’re used to sleeping next to your wife every night, you can’t stand an empty bed.”

His words left the single elders’ faces shifting between green and pale.

Mo Feng lived up to his reputation. He was the first to grasp Ming’an’s meaning. Even so, he couldn’t easily accept this sudden revelation. “Mr. Ming’an, surely you jest. Your wife is not here.”

“Are you saying I’m mistaken?” Ming’an narrowed his eyes, smiling like a fox. But as he smiled, the temperature in the hall seemed to drop to freezing.

Mo Feng smiled as well, the wrinkles on his face deepening with the weight of years. “Why not speak plainly, Mr. Ming’an? Since you’ve come today, I assume you’ve made your preparations.”

“Oh, don’t overthink it.” Ming’an raised a brow with a grin. “I came alone.”

He hadn’t brought any companions—because no matter what it was, he alone was enough.
