TSFLIP Chapter 98

The next morning, Mu Tianze drove to pick up An Tong and Feng Guang before heading to school together on the school bus. In the back row, Feng Guang and An Tong didn’t say a word. An Tong tried to engage her in conversation, but Feng Guang didn’t respond at all. Mu Tianze found it strange but didn’t press the issue; asking too many questions would only make it seem like he cared too much.

The students in Class 2 of their second year all knew An Tong. He was a legend at their school—he rarely attended but managed to get into the best university with record-breaking scores. He had even returned to their high school to give a lecture, and for many, An Tong represented resilience in the face of adversity. For the academic achievers, he was a goal to strive for, and for the girls, his handsome face was enough to capture their attention.

It was easy to imagine how popular An Tong was, even when he appeared in a wheelchair.

Feng Guang glanced at An Tong, who was surrounded by admirers and climbed aboard the bus with a cold expression. She chose a seat by the window in the back row, took out her phone, and plugged in her headphones to listen to music. Why would she feel jealous?

“Feng Guang.”

Great, even with her headphones turned up to the max, she couldn’t block out his pleasant voice.

“Can I sit next to you?” An Tong, supported by Mu Tianze, looked strained, a light sheen of sweat on his forehead.

“You…” She started to speak, but all eyes turned to her. It felt as if rejecting him would be a grievous sin. Feng Guang leaned toward the window and weakly nodded. “Go ahead.”

“Thank you.” An Tong’s lips curved into a soft smile, a healing expression that could make anyone blush.

Feng Guang heard the awed whispers around her, and she couldn’t help but scoff inwardly.

Mu Tianze chimed in, “Hey, Xia Feng Guang, take good care of my cousin.”

“Got it,” she replied dismissively.

“Don’t worry, Tianze. Feng Guang will take good care of me,” An Tong said.

Feng Guang turned to look at An Tong, who was already gazing at her. His smiling eyes seemed to draw her in, like a tranquil pool, and she quickly averted her gaze, unable to hold his stare.

As Mu Tianze settled down beside Fang Yaya, the bus started moving, and the excited chatter of the students filled the air.

Feng Guang looked out the window and rummaged through her bag for a handkerchief, handing it to An Tong without turning back or saying a word.

Still sulking, it seemed.

An Tong’s weak voice broke through. “Feng Guang, can you help me?”

“You!” Finally abandoning her pretense of looking at the scenery, she turned to him. Initially, anger filled her face, but when she saw the focused look he was giving her, her irritation faded. “Don’t push your luck.”

How much strength did it take to wipe his face? Although she thought this, she still took the handkerchief and gently wiped the sweat from his forehead, being careful with her movements.

An Tong grasped her hand, which was small enough to fit in his palm. “Let’s stop fighting, okay?”

For some reason, his words made her all pretentiousness vanish, leaving only a strong impulse to embrace him. Suddenly, she thought of so much—his body, his mother, his unfortunate past…

“Don’t cry.” An Tong’s fingertips brushed against her eye, and that gentle touch made him long for more, filling him with a profound sense of satisfaction. He knew she was crying for him.

It was a wonderful thing to know someone cared enough to cry for you.
