Ming An casually raised his arm and, with practiced ease, bit into it himself, leaving two small puncture wounds. Dark red blood slowly began to flow, and he heard her swallow hard.
He smiled and brought his arm to her lips. “Aren’t you hungry?”
The scent of blood carried an irresistible allure she couldn’t refuse. Fengguang’s rational thoughts drifted farther and farther away as instinct took over. She opened her mouth and bit down on the wounded spot on his arm, desperately drawing more of the warm liquid from the cuts.
His blood kept flowing, yet he didn’t even furrow his brow. Watching her swallow again and again, he could tell she must have been starving to have called him over like this.
For some reason, Ming An felt that the way she focused on feeding made her look like a fragile little cub—adorably so. With his free arm, he wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her onto his lap, holding her against his chest. Someone that hungry wouldn’t have the energy to resist. He gently stroked the top of her head and murmured softly, “Don’t rush—drink slowly.”
A vampire who had gone seventeen years without tasting blood suddenly experiencing it was no different from a lifelong celibate finally giving in—there was no stopping until satisfaction came.
That was exactly how Fengguang was. At this moment, nothing in the world mattered except filling her hunger with his blood.
She leaned obediently against him as she fed, truly like a tiny kitten. Ming An’s heart melted into a puddle. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head and whispered, “In this world, you’re the only one who can drink my blood so freely.”
After about five minutes, Ming An decided the timing was right and pulled his arm away. “Little girl, that’s enough. If you drink any more, you won’t be able to sleep tonight.”
“No—I want more!”
He raised his arm higher. Like a stubborn child, she reached out with both hands, trying to grab it back, but one of his arms held her firmly around the waist, and she couldn’t jump up to reach him.
Before long, the wounds on his arm had already healed.
She glared at him angrily, feeling like she still wasn’t full—but as she kept glaring, she let out an unexpected, satisfied burp.
Ming An reached out and gently wiped the trace of blood from the corner of her mouth with his fingertip. “You’ve only just started tasting blood,” he explained. “You still need to learn how to control yourself. Once you’ve had enough, you have to stop. If you drink too much, your prey could die from blood loss—and your own body won’t feel good either. Understand?”
Her gaze followed his bloodstained finger until she couldn’t help herself—she grabbed his hand and slipped his finger into her mouth, mumbling around it, “You mean… I need to learn to control my desire for blood.”
She knew she looked far too desperate right now, and her stomach wasn’t even hungry anymore. But her body’s instinctive reaction to blood made it impossible to stop. After tasting fresh blood, she suddenly wondered what she’d been doing all these years—why had she forced herself to miss out on something so delicious?
Ming An let her continue sucking on his finger. The corners of his eyes curved gently under the warm lamplight, like ripples spreading across a tranquil lake. “You’re right. Learning to control your craving for blood is something every vampire’s parents should teach them when they’re young. But you’re starting late, and your parents spoiled you too much. From now on, I’ll have to teach you properly myself.”
