Those two werewolves couldn’t have given him any real trouble, right? By now, their bodies were probably swarmed by flies and torn apart by animals in the woods.
Ming An said with lingering unease, “When they saw I was taking you away, of cours,e they tried to stop me.”
“Huh? So you fought with them? Are you hurt?”
“Well…” Ming An hesitated for a moment, then smiled lightly. “A teacher protecting a student is only natural. Whether I got hurt doesn’t matter.”
“You really were injured?” Fengguang grabbed his hand and started pulling up his sleeve. “Let me see—where are you hurt? Is it serious?”
The corner of his eye lifted in a flirtatious grin. “Even if I were hurt, you wouldn’t be able to tell. My body’s different—my healing ability is far beyond that of normal people. As long as I’m not killed on the spot, I can always show up alive in front of you.”
She paused, her heartbeat skipping for no reason at his words. She quickly let go of his hand and asked, trying to sound calm, “Then why did the injuries on my body heal so fast?”
She certainly didn’t remember having that kind of ability.
“If you want to know, Fengguang, then see it for yourself.” He smiled and took her right hand, pressing it gently against his face.
Very quickly, an image appeared in her mind—the scene of him “treating” her. Ming An really had been a good person: biting himself again and again and then feeding her his own blood. But the way he made her drink it was hard for her to accept. Startled, she pulled her hand back. Her other hand clutched the one he had just held, and she lowered her head, unable to say a word for a long while.
The atmosphere fell silent.
He was the one who broke it. Casually, he picked up a can of beer beside him and took a sip, saying in an easy, carefree tone, “That was the only way I could save you at the time. If you think this old man was just taking advantage of you on purpose… well, I’ll take the blame.”
He had been taking advantage of her—there was nothing strange about his admitting it.
Fengguang wasn’t stupid. She looked up and let out a cold huff. “Then what about my clothes?”
The man who had been acting nonchalant froze for a second, then put on a showy sigh. “Your clothes were covered in blood. If I didn’t change them, was I supposed to let you keep wearing something filthy and mess up my bed too?”
He really didn’t seem like someone who cared much about cleanliness.
“No matter what, you did save me.” She crossed her arms and looked at him seriously, as if to say that whatever advantage he’d taken could be counted as her repayment.
Ming An tilted his head slightly, feeling that this girl could see right through him.
“Oh, right!” Fengguang suddenly asked loudly, “Do you know about last night’s vampire riot?”
“Relax. Wen Xian and Chu Xiao brought members of the Hunters’ Association to suppress it afterward. There were injuries, but no deaths.”
“Don’t you think the whole thing was strange?” she said, stroking her chin as she analyzed. “Even though Zeng Xue’s blood smells incredibly sweet, it shouldn’t have been enough to make every vampire lose control. Those B-rank and A-rank vampires are all rational nobles.”
The way she lowered her head in thought was incredibly cute. Ming An smiled and patted the top of her head. “Those aren’t things you should be worrying about. The Hunters’ Association and the Elders’ Council will investigate together. As for that transfer student named Zeng Xue, they’ve already taken samples of her blood for analysis.”
