Fengguang immediately perked up. She obediently followed along at Ming An’s side, completely losing the look she’d had just moments ago when she’d been about to roll around on the ground, complaining that she was hungry.
From the very beginning, the umbrella had been in Ming An’s hand. Once Fengguang stood up, he felt that, as an elder, it would be awkward to toss it to her again. So for the entire walk, he could only hold the umbrella over the girl, silently thinking that he really had brought trouble on himself.

She had assumed Ming An would cook. Instead, he did go into the kitchen, but he came back out almost immediately, his arms full of instant noodles.
He set all the cups of noodles on the coffee table and said to Fengguang, “Here you go. Every flavor I have is here. Pick whichever you want. There’s hot water in the kitchen. Once you choose, you can go soak it yourself.”
Fengguang didn’t move. She just looked at him in silence.
For once, Ming An felt something stir. The well-dressed young girl standing in his chaotic apartment made his place look like a literal doghouse by comparison. A sense of shame he hadn’t felt in years began to awaken. He forced out a stiff smile and tried to negotiate. “If you can’t eat here, you can take it back to your dorm and eat it there.”
“Delivery,” she said, using just those two words.
Ming An patted her on the head kindly, like a benevolent elder, and said regretfully, “Little girl, there’s no way food delivery is climbing that high up the mountain to get here.”
She pursed her lips. “Instant noodles are bad for your health.”
She glanced at the trash can. Good grief—almost all of it was empty noodle cups.
Ming An said helplessly, “This is all I have to eat…”
He knew that the higher-ranking a vampire was, the pickier they tended to be. But being picky didn’t help here. He survived on instant noodles.
Then he heard her mutter, “No wonder you look so washed out. Turns out you’re a shut-in who’s malnourished.”
A shut-in?
No, no, no. He was just a bit prone to staying at home.
Ming An was about to explain when he saw Fengguang walk over to the refrigerator.
She opened it and was stunned. The fridge was packed with canned beer. One glance showed nearly nothing but alcohol. After some effort, she finally found two eggs tucked into a corner, along with a single sausage.
