Fengguang’s face flushed. She felt that if she looked away now, it would make her seem too timid, so she forced her eyes open a little wider and stared at him openly, without flinching.
Song Wuxia smiled and silently mouthed a few words: “I’ll take good care of you tonight.”
Fengguang’s face turned even redder, as if it might start steaming. By then, the scoundrel had already turned his head back. She glanced at Baili Mo beside her and, seeing nothing unusual in his expression, finally let out a quiet sigh of relief.
She felt that sooner or later, Song Wuxia was going to scare her into a heart attack.
They soon arrived at the hunting grounds, and the guards began setting up camp. Taking advantage of the brief moment when Baili Mo walked away, Song Wuxia moved closer to Fengguang. She panicked and looked around to see if anyone was watching, but before she could react, he grabbed her hand and pulled her to a secluded spot, hiding behind a tree.
Before she could figure out what he was planning, his lips were already on hers.
Flustered, Fengguang pressed down on the hand that had slipped inside her clothes and whispered anxiously, “Song Wuxia… someone might see us.”
“The old emperor is busy talking to Baili Mo. No one’s coming over,” he said. As soon as the words left his mouth, he tugged open her collar, his heated kisses landing on her delicate collarbone.
Fengguang cradled his head against her chest, breathing unevenly, but still forcing herself to speak softly. “My father is here too.”
“That half-blind old chancellor?” he replied.
She let out a soft, indignant hum, her shy eyes flashing with anger. “That’s my father.”
Perhaps fathers-in-law and sons-in-law were destined to be enemies. He always mocked her father in front of her, calling him a half-blind old chancellor. She felt helpless but had no way to argue back—after all, his line “Wasn’t it your father who betrothed you to the crown prince?” left her completely speechless.
“As long as Fengguang has me, that’s enough…” he said, deliberately biting down a little harder.
“Song Wuxia… be gentler…” Fengguang threaded her fingers into his dark hair and whispered a breathless “It hurts.”
Her legs went weak, and he caught her by the waist, pulling her firmly into his arms. At last, his kisses slowly began to trail downward…
Her clothes had already come loose, the fabric slipping down her left arm. When she realized what he was about to do, she crouched down instead and threw herself into his embrace, holding him tightly.
A flicker of confusion crossed Song Wuxia’s eyes. He gently stroked the back of her head and asked softly, “Does Fengguang not like it?”
It wasn’t something he hadn’t done for her before. She understood what he meant, even without him saying it out loud.
He was always afraid he couldn’t satisfy her, so he tried to make up for it in other ways. He felt he couldn’t give her true happiness and didn’t want her to feel wronged—so instead, he wronged himself.
Even though Song Wuxia did these things willingly for her, Fengguang couldn’t say she truly enjoyed them. Since she had chosen him, she had decided to accept everything about him. Intimacy between lovers was never about one person pleasing the other.
More than physical desire, what brought her the greatest joy was the harmony between their hearts.
As long as the feelings were genuine, even the simplest touch could make her feel indescribably happy.
