TSFLIP Chapter 803

Feng Guang asked, “Then what are we supposed to do?”

“All you have to do is come with me,” Shu Qiu said with a mysterious smile. He took her hand and started walking in the opposite direction. Waving to one of the constables, he added, “Go inform the Xia residence that Miss Xia is accompanying me to investigate a case.”

“Yes, sir,” the constable replied.

And just like that, Feng Guang was dragged off by Shu Qiu to the crime scene—Wu Qi’s home on Wutong Alley.

Looking up at him, she asked, “So this so-called investigation… it’s just the two of us?”

“Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.” Shu Qiu patted his chest confidently.

Feng Guang didn’t bother responding. She sighed, clearly exhausted.

Shu Qiu unlocked the door and stepped inside. “Huh? Someone’s been in here,” he murmured.

“It was probably Wu Qi,” Feng Guang said as she followed him in. “He’s Madam Liu’s son. A few days ago, he came back to grab some things.”

“Oh, that boy… I heard he’s working as a servant at your Xia residence now. How’s he doing?”

“He’s doing fine. I think he’s a strong kid.”

Shu Qiu chuckled. “If I recall, he’s older than you. And you’re calling him a kid? What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I called him that. Got a problem with it?”

“I wouldn’t dare,” Shu Qiu said with a shrug. Then he added, “This place has already been searched top to bottom. We didn’t find anything back then. I just thought that maybe you might notice something we missed.”

Feng Guang didn’t know why he had so much faith in her, but since she was already there, she took a serious look around the house. After making a full circuit, she shrugged. “I don’t see anything.”

Shu Qiu didn’t seem disappointed. “Then let’s go talk to Wu Qi directly.”

“Talk to him about what?”

“To see what he knows,” Shu Qiu said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. “When Madam Liu died, he was just a frightened, grieving child. Given his condition at the time, I didn’t question him too hard. But now that some time has passed, he’s probably calmer. I think it’s time to ask again.”

Everything Shu Qiu said made sense. If he wanted to question someone close to Madam Liu, there had to be a reason.

Feng Guang didn’t object. She followed him out of the house, but just as they were about to leave, she stopped. “Wait.”

Shu Qiu turned back to her. “What’s wrong?”

“Something feels off.” She turned to look at the house again, frowning as an uneasy feeling crept over her.

“What feels off?”

Feng Guang didn’t answer right away. She was still thinking. After a long pause, something seemed to click. She walked a slow circle around the outside of the house, then returned to where she started. “Doesn’t it seem like… the inside of the house feels smaller than what we see from the outside? When I walked around outside, the size didn’t match what I felt when we were inside.”

“If what you’re saying is true, then that means… there’s a hidden room somewhere,” Shu Qiu said, his usual playful demeanor suddenly gone. He thought for a moment, then grabbed Feng Guang’s hand again. “Come on, let’s check. Let’s see if there’s really a secret chamber.”

“You’re not going to call the constables to help?” she asked.

“By the time they get here, the day’ll be over,” Shu Qiu said dismissively. It was clear he didn’t think much of his subordinates’ efficiency.
