TSFLIP Chapter 785

“Shu Feng…” Feng Guang tilted her head, smiling sweetly. “My name is Xia Fengguang.”

“I know. You’re Xia Fengguang.”

Shu Feng bent slightly, a strand of his long white hair falling across his chest. The breeze lifted it gently, making it shimmer like silk.

Almost without thinking, she reached out and caught that strand between her fingers. It was soft—too soft—and impossibly clean. Still, she couldn’t help but ask, “Why is your hair white?”

“Perhaps I’m just old,” he said with a faint laugh. His eyes flickered, bright and calm enough to make her heartbeat skip again.

She blinked, dazed for a moment before forcing herself to steady. Her fingers tightened slightly on that white strand, reluctant to let go. But after a pause, she released it. It slipped from her palm, leaving a strange emptiness behind.

“You’re not old,” she said quietly.

“I’m older than you.”

“I’ll grow up soon. I’ll be old too one day.”

“And when that day comes…”

“When that day comes,” she cut in with a bright smile, “you’ll still be sitting here—drinking tea, admiring flowers, just like this.”

He paused, then smiled again, but didn’t answer.

Feng Guang didn’t like the heaviness in that silence, so she changed the subject. Taking his hand, she pressed something small and sticky into his palm—a single candied hawthorn, the last one on the skewer. “Shu Feng, this is proof of our friendship. If you accept it, that means you’re officially my friend.”

He looked down at the candy, his lips curving slightly. “If I become Feng Guang’s friend, do I get any special privileges?”

She laughed. “What kind of privileges do you want?”

“Something like…” He leaned in, just a few inches away. Their breath mingled, and she could see her reflection in his dark eyes.

Her heart jumped. Just as she wondered if he was about to do something, he suddenly reached out and flicked her forehead.

“Ow!” She covered her forehead, glaring at him in mock outrage. “What was that for?”

It hadn’t really hurt—he’d been gentle—but still!

He chuckled. “That’s the privilege I wanted.”

“Huh?”

“Sometimes,” he said, his voice light with amusement, “it’s interesting to see the dignified young lady of the Xia family look surprised.”

Feng Guang: “…”

What kind of twisted sense of humor was that?!

Before she could protest, he said softly, “Someone’s here to see you.” His gaze didn’t waver, calm and deep as a quiet lake, yet carrying a warmth that could melt the heart.

She blinked in confusion.

Just then, a man in his thirties entered with the butler. The moment he saw her, he called out, “Feng Guang.”

“Father?” She turned, and when she spotted Lianzi following behind him, she immediately understood. Lianzi must have been too scared to come in earlier and had gone to fetch her father instead. Feng Guang shot her maid an annoyed glare.

Lianzi shrank back pitifully.

Shu Feng rose to his feet, still cradling the white cat in his arms. His expression was serene, his voice like a spring breeze. “Master Xia, I’ve heard much about you.”

“You flatter me.” Master Xia bowed slightly, hurried and polite. “My daughter can be reckless at times. I hope she hasn’t caused you any trouble, young master.”

“Not at all,” Shu Feng replied gently. His clear eyes held a quiet smile. “Miss Xia is a bright and well-behaved young lady. Her visit has brought a bit of liveliness to my otherwise quiet manor.”
