TSFLIP Chapter 750

“Perfect?” He gave a mocking laugh. “Are you saying his face is flawless, or that his kindness makes him perfect in your eyes?”

Fengguang caught the sarcasm in his tone. Calmly, she replied, “At least before I knew how awful your personality was, I also thought you were perfect.”

He froze for a moment, then, after a beat, his lips moved. “Turns out your ability to judge people really is flawed. Xia Fengguang, is Han Qi really that noble and upright in your heart?”

“Does the answer to that question even matter?”

He gave a low chuckle. “The answer itself doesn’t matter. What matters is how he would answer you. Don’t you think he’s perfect? Then why don’t you go ask him why I was even born into this world?”

He stepped back and let go of her hand.

That crushing pressure that had surrounded her suddenly vanished. Fengguang’s body relaxed a little. Looking at the boy in front of her, she pressed her lips together and said, “I will ask him.”

“I’m looking forward to it… the next time I see you, Xia, we’ll see if you still hold on to that belief.” Han Chen’s eyes curved slightly as if he were smiling, but not the slightest trace of laughter touched his gaze.

He turned and walked away.

Fengguang stood rooted in place for a long time, unmoving. After a while, she clenched the hem of her dress and finally walked off in the opposite direction.

In the best hospital in City A, a man with a calm expression stood by the window. He gazed quietly at a pot of blooming baby’s breath. A faint smile tugged at his lips, as though through those pure white blossoms he could see something else that brought him joy.

Just then, the door to the ward was knocked on. He turned back and said, “Come in.” When he saw Fengguang walk through the door, a flicker of surprise crossed his face. “Fengguang? Don’t you have class today?”

“I… I wanted to come check on you.” She slowly walked over to his side, forcing a small smile.

The corners of his eyes lifted ever so slightly, adding a touch of charm. “No need to worry about my health. You should focus on your classes.”

“Classes are so boring…” she couldn’t help but complain. “Going to school is the thing I hate most.”

He reached out and gently ruffled the top of her head. “Being able to go to school is a wonderful thing,” he said softly.

Fengguang never liked him touching her head—it made her feel like a disobedient child before him. But hearing his words made her heart ache. His body was so weak that he couldn’t go to school by himself. She remembered him once saying he missed his “old self.” Now she realized that what he meant was he envied Han Chen’s freedom to do whatever he wanted.

Sensing her sudden sadness, his clear eyes warmed with gentle light. “Don’t feel sorry for me. Compared to all the displaced people out there, my life is already good.”

“But…” Fengguang spoke in confusion, “You’re such a good person. Why should you be the one to suffer like this?”

“Fengguang, if there are doctors in the world, then of course there will be patients. I just happen to be one of them. There’s no deeper meaning, no cause and effect. This is simply who I am.” His voice was calm, carrying no hint of resentment toward an unfair fate. Perhaps it could even be said that he had long since accepted it, taking his illness as a natural part of his life.
