The room stayed quiet for a long while.

It was the beautiful woman who finally spoke first. “And this young lady is…?”

The middle-aged couple stepped inside, both watching Feng Guang with a mix of curiosity and relief.

Feng Guang felt incredibly awkward. She hurried off the bed and greeted them. “Hello, Uncle, Auntie… um, it’s not what you think…”

Han Wei exchanged a glance with his wife, Zhen Wei, a look of complete understanding passing between them. “Not what we think? And what exactly do you think we’re thinking?”

The man on the bed spoke up gently. “Feng Guang is my friend. She took care of me last night, and because she was so exhausted, she fell asleep here in the room. Don’t scare her.” He smiled warmly at his parents as he said it.

Zhen Wei pressed further. “Just a friend?”

“Just a friend,” Han Chen confirmed.

Han Wei sighed. “Well, that’s a real pity.”

Feng Guang wiped the cold sweat from her forehead and finally felt some relief. Sure, Han Chen was her strategy target, but she had never imagined meeting the parents so soon. Facing these two elders had her flustered.

“Your name is Feng Guang, right?” Zhen Wei walked closer, taking her hand kindly. “Thank you for looking after my son. The doctor told me if it hadn’t been for you, then perhaps…” She trailed off, still shaken by the thought.

Feng Guang quickly said, “It’s nothing. Helping people is just what anyone should do.”

Zhen Wei smiled kindly. “Feng Guang, you really have such a good heart.”

“Feng Guang… that name…” Han Wei thought aloud. “Young lady, is your surname Xia?”

Feng Guang nodded. “Yes.”

“Your father is Xia Chao?”

“That’s right. Xia Chao is my father.”

“I see. I thought the name Feng Guang was unforgettable the first time I heard it. Once you’ve heard it, you never forget.” Han Wei had attended his fair share of banquets and had, of course, met Xia Chao a few times—though only as acquaintances. But he did remember hearing at one of those events that Xia Chao had a daughter named Feng Guang.

Feng Guang gave an embarrassed smile. “My dad said that my birth was the most beautiful scenery in his and my mom’s lives. And he also said my life should be just as bright and glorious. That’s why they named me Feng Guang.”

“That name carries a lot of meaning.” Han Chen’s obsidian-like eyes softened with a hint of a smile. “Your parents must love you very much.”

She joked lightly, “If they didn’t force me to go to all those banquets, I might believe they love me even more.”

At that moment, the doctor knocked on the door. “Mr. and Mrs. Han, I’d like to discuss the next stage of treatment with you.”

Han Wei nodded, then kindly turned to Feng Guang. “Miss Xia, I’ll trouble you to keep this disobedient boy company for a while.”

Both Han Wei and Zhen Wei gave her one last kind smile before leaving the room.

“No, not really…” She glanced into his warm, perceptive eyes and winced before correcting herself. “Okay… maybe a little.”
