TSFLIP Chapter 689

Fengguang thought about it for a moment, then asked, “What’s my relationship with the Beiming Princess?”

“The relationship between the Princess and the County Princess is, of course—”

“Ahem.” The maid standing on the side coughed lightly.

Cai’e paused, as if suddenly remembering something, then corrected herself: “The Princess and the County Princess… don’t get along very well.”

“If we don’t get along, then why would I be visiting Beiming?” Fengguang swept her gaze across the maids in the palace hall. The moment their eyes met hers, every one of them dropped their heads low. She knew herself well enough—if she disliked someone, she would never take the initiative to get close. She wasn’t the type to make herself miserable.

Cold sweat broke out on Cai’e’s forehead. “If I may, Princess, it’s because of the Beiming Queen. She’s the Heavenly Empress’s younger sister—your aunt. Though your relationship with the County Princess is poor, you’ve always been close to the Beiming Queen. Every time you’ve gone to Beiming, it was to see her, not the County Princess.”

“I see…” Fengguang picked up a cup of tea, took a sip, and said casually, “Alright, you can all leave me now. I want some peace to read.”

“Yes, Princess.” The maids curtsied, bowed, and filed out of the bedchamber, carefully closing the doors behind them.

Setting down her cup, Fengguang rubbed her chin in deep thought. At Weiming Residence, things had felt normal enough, but the moment she was among people, everything turned strange. Most of them, upon seeing her—or maybe when they saw Suva—would show such odd expressions. It was so obvious she couldn’t possibly miss it.

Her past self had never been able to make sense of these strange people and happenings. Maybe… she could seek out that young man named Jiandan. He had attended the birthday banquet yesterday; there was a chance he was still in the Heavenly Palace.

As she rose to her feet, her hip brushed against the table, knocking a book to the ground. She bent to pick it up, but when she leaned down, she noticed something stuck to the underside of the table.

Reaching under, she felt around and pulled out a golden key. She froze, wondering why on earth a key would be hidden there. Since this was her own bedchamber, that almost certainly meant the key belonged to her—at least ninety percent certain.

But if it was really hers, why would she have hidden it there?

She looked around the room, but saw nothing locked. That only deepened the puzzle. Could it be… she had hidden something somewhere, and this key was the only way to open it?

If it were her, where would she have thought was safest to stash something important?

Fengguang bit her thumb, forcing herself to think the way she used to. Where would her past self have hidden things? Scanning the chamber again, her gaze finally landed on the ceiling beams.

The wardrobe was for clothes—too obvious. That wasn’t her style. The jewelry boxes weren’t locked either. The table, chairs, and bed were things the maids cleaned daily; she’d never have risked hiding anything there. That left only the place ordinary people would never think to look: the ceiling beam.

She hadn’t forgotten that she was a deity in this world, which meant flying was second nature. After mulling over how she might take off, inspiration suddenly struck. She pushed off the ground on instinct, body moving with intent—and sure enough, she rose into the air.
