Beiming Yu insisted, “As long as we keep trying—”
“Xiaoyu, that’s enough.” Beiming Ya’s tone grew heavier. “You should understand—when it comes to Fengguang’s safety, no one worries more than the Heavenly Emperor and Empress.”
Beiming Yu turned toward the Heavenly Emperor and Empress. They both remained silent, their silence steeped in despair. Clenching her fists, she stubbornly declared, “No matter what, I will never give up on Fengguang. One day, I’ll find a way to save her!”
With that, she cast another cold look at the people she now only saw as heartless, then turned and ran out of the great hall.
Lord Qingya glanced at Beiming Ya. “Great Emperor Beiming, aren’t you going to chase after the princess?”
“She’s not a child anymore. She can’t keep being this naïve. Let her be—she’ll have to grow up on her own eventually.” Though he said this, the emotions flickering in his eyes were the kind only a parent could understand.
Lord Qingya gave a small smile. “Since even Great Emperor Beiming says so, then so be it. Ah, I’ve had too much to drink—I should go clear my head.”
After briefly excusing himself to the Heavenly Emperor and Empress, whose expressions were still clouded, he left the hall as well. Whether he truly went to sober up or to follow after her, no one could say.
Meanwhile, inside the princess’s chambers—
Suva carried Fengguang into her room and laid her on the bed. His chest was in complete disarray, his collar pulled wide open to reveal his elegant collarbones—all thanks to her clawing at him on the way back.
Whenever Fengguang drank too much, she always picked up some bad habits. She became far more uninhibited than usual and especially liked to paw at whoever was next to her. A bad habit, perhaps—but in Suva’s eyes, one he could turn into something quite pleasant.
Like now: the moment she touched the bed, she grabbed him by the collar, yanked him down with her, and rolled on top of him. She nestled against his chest with a satisfied rub of her head, mumbling with a tipsy smile, “Suva… you smell so good…”
And of course, her hand slipped right down into his collar.
Suva narrowed his eyes slightly at the feel of her wandering touch. He lifted a hand, gently stroking the back of her head, his voice lowered. “Fengguang, it’s still the middle of the day…”
“Daytime… all the more reason not to waste it…”
“And what exactly does Fengguang mean by that?”
“What do I mean…” Her hand, already under his shirt, slid down to his abdomen. Half-drunk, she mumbled, “I don’t know what I mean… mmm, I just want more wine…”
He spoke softly, coaxingly. “So Fengguang only wants to drink and not do anything else?”
“Do anything else…? What else is there…?”
“For example… something like this.” He cupped her face, meeting her dazed, drunken gaze, then curved his lips and pressed a brief kiss against hers before pulling back.
She blinked.
“Do you like that?” he asked gently.
“…I do.” In her drunken state, she was surprisingly honest.
“Then what if I make you like it even more?”
She nodded without hesitation. “Okay…”
Suva smiled, then captured her lips again. But this time, the kiss was nothing like the first—intense, lingering, filled with heat.
Fengguang, lost in her haze, felt the world spin as the positions shifted, and suddenly she was beneath him.
