That night had been overwhelmingly intense. The two of them kept at it until dawn—or rather, it was mostly her being completely worn out by Xu Wang’s relentless passion. It wasn’t until the first light of morning crept through the window that he finally let her sleep. In truth, she didn’t so much fall asleep as pass out from exhaustion.

He pulled her tighter into his embrace, breathing in her scent, now mixed with a quiet satisfaction he couldn’t quite explain. His mark on her had been successful—now, she was completely covered in his scent. It was something no amount of time or effort could wash away.

Finally, he closed his eyes. For the first time, sleep came easily. Of course, he had no intention of letting her out of his arms.

They slept straight through to the afternoon.

When Feng Guang finally opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was his firm, powerful chest. She inhaled the masculine scent clinging to his skin, then looked up to see his serene, beautiful sleeping face. With a sleepy smile, she snuggled deeper into his arms, only to be immediately reminded of the deep soreness in her body. Her waist ached, and… certain places were particularly tender.

Last night had been a lot. No doubt she’d be feeling the consequences for days. There’s a reason the ancients warned that too much indulgence can hurt the body.

Groaning, Feng Guang had no desire to move and was about to drift back to sleep when she felt his hand, resting at her waist, start to move in a not-so-innocent way. With a chuckle, he obediently withdrew his hand, though it still rested gently on her waist, massaging it in soft circles. Watching her eyes narrow in sleepy satisfaction like a spoiled cat, his mood lifted. “That’s because my physical endurance is ranked at the highest level.”

“Highest level?” she echoed, confused.

She didn’t understand the classifications of this future world. Xu Wang’s gaze dimmed slightly as he explained, “It’s meant for combat.”

Feng Guang instinctively sensed this wasn’t a subject he liked discussing. She quickly leaned up and kissed his chin, speaking sweetly, “Then let’s just stay here and live peacefully, even if this place is just a desolate prison. As long as those criminals stay locked up properly, you won’t have to fight. Xu Wang… I don’t want to see you get hurt.”

“Alright,” he replied, the softness in his eyes like spring water, deep and drowning. “If Feng Guang doesn’t want to see me hurt, then I won’t get hurt.”

She stared at him, utterly mesmerized, her heart pounding.

Xu Wang kissed the corner of her eye. “Why so quiet all of a sudden?”

“I was just thinking… how could a man this amazing possibly fall for someone like me?”
