TSFLIP Chapter 396

She was getting better and better at acting pitiful.

Fang Yue chuckled, twirling a strand of her long hair between his fingers. In a low voice, he said, “I’m not blaming you, Fengguang. Let’s go for a walk.”

“Okay…” Lost in his warmth, she could only nod blankly.

Doctor Sun watched the young couple walk out, completely ignoring him. With a loud smack, he threw down his abacus. “Hey! I haven’t even finished calculating your bill!”

This town was called Bai Li Town, named after the pear blossom trees lining the streets. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the season for them to bloom.

At this hour, the sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the streets. There weren’t too many people, but there were just enough—fathers taking their children out for an evening stroll while mothers stayed home preparing dinner.

Fengguang held tightly onto Fang Yue’s hand, her intense gaze making it impossible for him to ignore. With a soft chuckle, he asked, “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“I was just thinking… Fang Yue will be a great father someday.”

Fang Yue’s expression froze.

Fengguang blinked, confused by his sudden silence. “What’s wrong?”

“I just never thought… I would have children.” No, to be precise, he had never even considered the idea of a third person coming between them.

“Well, you can start thinking about it now. Didn’t you say you were going to marry me? That means we’ll have kids sooner or later! Hehe, I hope it’s a girl. I’ll name her Xiaoxiao—Xiaoxiao, Xiaoxiao! Just saying it makes me feel happier already.”

A child…

He watched as Fengguang drifted into a blissful daydream. The words I don’t want children nearly left his lips, but seeing her so happy, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

As they passed by a street stall, he suddenly stopped.

Fengguang stopped with him. “What’s wrong?”

“I promised to take you to buy a hairpin,” Fang Yue said.

It was only then that she realized they were standing in front of a vendor selling hairpins. He remembered what she had said.

But… Fengguang tugged on his sleeve, tiptoeing to whisper in his ear, “I don’t have any money left, so let’s just forget about it.”

He sighed. “With me here, why would you need to spend your own money?”

“Huh? You have money?”

He guessed she probably didn’t carry silver since she rarely left the sect. But unlike her, he had traveled down the mountain many times at her age, hunting demons and dealing with the mortal world. Naturally, he had money.

Seeing the dumbfounded look on her face, Fang Yue found it amusing. Her doubtful expression seemed to say, How could someone as detached from the mundane world as you possibly have money?

But the truth was, he did.

Mimicking her earlier tone, he leaned in and whispered, “This is a small place. The items here aren’t very valuable. Just pick one you like for now. In the future, I’ll get you a better one.”

His warm breath tickled her ear, making her blush involuntarily. She quickly composed herself and glanced at the items on the stall. In an instant, her eyes landed on a simple wooden hairpin with delicate floral carvings. She pointed at it. “I like this one.”

She had always preferred simple designs.

Fang Yue paid for it and held the wooden hairpin in his hand, his gaze soft. “When we get back, I’ll help you put it in your hair.”

“Okay…” She beamed brightly, clinging to his arm like a little bird.

The warm light of dusk bathed her face in a soft glow, making her look even more enchanting—so much so that it made him want to kiss her.

At that moment, Fang Yue suddenly felt a deep sense of gratitude.

She was his.
