Finally, the third attempt at filming Ancient City Dreams began. With the experiences of the first two failed attempts, everyone on set was prepared for unexpected complications. Qiu Liang, however, was full of confidence, as he never believed in superstitions or the existence of ghosts and spirits.
The same courtyard, the same crabapple trees, the same cast.
After delivering his lines, Yu Shu slowly raised his hand. Suddenly, his eyes sharpened, and instead of letting his hand fall onto Feng Guang’s face as scripted, he grabbed her hand and pulled her to the side. The spot where they had been standing was now crushed under the weight of a collapsing crabapple tree.
Before anyone could react, the trees in the courtyard began falling one after another. The flowerpots lined along the walls shattered one by one, and with an even louder crash, the stone table in front of Feng Guang and Yu Shu exploded. The flying debris, propelled with incredible force, shot toward them. Yu Shu reacted quickly, turning his back to shield Feng Guang. The sharp fragments struck his back, leaving traces of blood that seeped through his white costume robe.
A scream broke the stunned silence, triggering chaos among the cast and crew as panic spread.
Feng Guang was at a loss, her voice trembling as she called out, “Yu Shu…”
Yu Shu, unfazed, put on his signature brooding expression. “Miss Xia, now you should believe me when I say my sixth sense is quite strong, shouldn’t you?”
“You… I…” She faltered, her voice failing as she noticed Yu Shu suddenly fix his gaze behind her.
Yu Shu raised a finger to his lips. “He’s right behind you.”
Her body froze.
Then he added with a note of surprise, “Wait… how can there be two of them?”
Two?
Summoning her courage, Feng Guang turned around. Under the distant eaves stood two men. One was dressed in black, exuding an eerie and sinister aura. The other was white, refined, and elegant in demeanor. Neither of them looked at each other. Instead, their gazes were both locked on her, creating an unspoken tension between them.
At that moment, Yu Shu’s agent rushed over in a panic. “We need to get to the hospital now! You’ve got so many upcoming commitments—you can’t afford to get hurt!”
As his agent pulled him away, Yu Shu glanced back at Feng Guang with a sly smile. “This time’s destruction is far greater than the last two incidents. Judging by the scope of the damage, it’s clear you’ve been added to his target list. Miss Xia, once again, all I can say is—good luck.”
Feng Guang’s emotions were a whirlwind of confusion and anger. Amid this complexity, a wave of fury surged within her. Why should she bear the brunt of A Mister’s obsessive fixation on her? They didn’t share any deep-seated enmity—no vengeance for a murdered father, no grudge over a stolen lover. It was nothing more than his inexplicable infatuation with her that now threatened her life, even after his death.
Was there anything more infuriatingly unjust than this?
“Feng Guang, let’s head back to the hotel,” Liu Han urged.
Feng Guang shook off Liu Han’s hand and calmly replied, “Han Han, wait for me at the entrance. I need to take care of something.”
“What is it—”
“Don’t worry about it. I promise I’ll be back soon.”
Feng Guang saw A Mister walking out of the courtyard, followed closely by An Yi, who glanced back at her before leaving as well. Feeling a surge of urgency, she left Liu Han behind and followed them.
She soon found herself in the courtyard with the locust tree again. Beneath its shade stood a lone figure. The slightly thin silhouette was familiar, but it wasn’t An Yi—it was the man who had sent her those letters: A Mister.
Feng Guang couldn’t help but admire her nerve. She used to be terrified of things like this, yet here she was, willingly approaching a ghost—a malevolent one at that.
“Mister A…” She clutched the hem of her dress tightly, her voice steady with an unusual determination. “About this plan of yours to take me to hell… let’s talk.”
