“In that case…” Feng Guang lifted her finger to tap his chin gently. Though she was shorter than him, the action was anything but awkward. Instead, it was full of flirtatious energy. She chuckled lightly. “If I want to make you my emperor consort, you wouldn’t object, would you?”

“Your Majesty, please show some respect,” Gu Yan said, stepping back, and avoiding her hand. His demeanor was calm and composed.

Feng Guang withdrew her hand lazily and said, “I was just joking. Uncle Wang, don’t take it too seriously.”

She turned to leave.

Gu Yan followed behind her. “Where are you going, Your Majesty?”

She exited the alley. “Didn’t you say you’d take me to the best restaurant? Let’s go eat now.”

“Your Majesty…”

Without turning back, she corrected him, “It’s Feng Guang.”

He complied, calling her name, “Feng Guang.”

“Mm?”

“If we’re going to the restaurant, you’re heading in the wrong direction,” he said.

Feng Guang paused in her steps. “Of course, I know the restaurant isn’t this way. I just thought the view here was nice, so I came for a little stroll.”

Gu Yan was clever enough not to argue with her.

Drunken Guest House was the best and most expensive restaurant in the capital. It was a place where only high-ranking officials and nobles could enter. As for Gu Yan, he had a special private room on the second floor, a privilege he had earned when the establishment was first created.

Feng Guang pushed open the window in the room. Below, the bustling street was full of noise. After observing for a moment, she returned to the table. “Uncle Wang, I never imagined you’d come here to sit and relax during your free time.”

“I’ve only been here four or five times. With all the government affairs I have to manage, when would I have the time to relax?” Gu Yan sipped from his teacup, setting it down and casting a sidelong glance.

From the next room, there was an unusual sound.

Feng Guang heard it too. On the other side of the wall, a woman’s voice could be heard—beautiful, yet restrained, as though unable to contain herself. The sound was so enticing, it could make one’s bones melt.

Her eyes sparkled with mischief. “Gu Yan, the soundproofing here seems a bit lacking. What do you think they’re doing next door? That woman sounds like she’s in pain. Should we go save her?”

Her feigned ignorance was so perfectly done that it only made Gu Yan uncomfortable. “I’ll go speak to the manager about it. Your Majesty, please don’t concern yourself.”

“Why bother with all that?” Feng Guang grabbed his hand, stopping him from rising. Then, she walked over to the wall and knocked loudly. “Young master next door, perhaps you need a bowl of tonic soup. The lady’s acting too convincingly, and I’m afraid she’ll ruin her voice.”

Suddenly, the noise from the next room stopped.

She returned to the table, a smug look on her face as she said to Gu Yan, “See? It’s just a couple of words, no need to trouble anyone else.”

Gu Yan could only remain silent.

Before long, their door was kicked open, and a young man in luxurious robes appeared in the doorway. His clothes, though elegant and made of fine blue fabric, gave off a distinctly decadent vibe, as he wore them carelessly. Sometimes, as he moved, his fair, muscular chest and the lines of his thighs were exposed.

Behind him stood a voluptuous woman.

Feng Guang let out a whistle. “Young master, are you here to sleep?”

At that moment, her vision went dark as Gu Yan raised his hand to block her view, his soft voice in her ear. “Do not look at indecency.”

Feng Guang pouted in regret. “Well, I guess it’s better to look at beautiful people when there are no elders around.”
