She had long since become accustomed to being the center of attention, and Feng Guang didn’t spare a glance for anyone else. She and Ou Xun sat as usual in the last row, ignoring the curious gazes of those around them.
Students gradually filled the classroom, and the teacher arrived to officially begin the lecture. Zhao Xiaolu couldn’t describe her feelings at that moment. When she first saw Ou Xun and Xia Fengguang walk in, she felt a sense of disbelief. She knew Xia Fengguang, the young lady who always maintained her perfect poise. Every time Zhao Xiaolu saw her, it felt like she was a woman standing on a cloud, while someone like Zhao Xiaolu was just an ant in the mud.
The only time Zhao Xiaolu had seen Fengguang lose her composure was when Shen Wuyan slapped her. Perhaps Shen Wuyan hadn’t noticed, but Zhao Xiaolu did; she saw something shatter in Fengguang’s eyes. Regarding her fiancé, she would never possess a heart full of love and admiration.
Everyone said that the eldest daughter of the Xia family was just a spoiled rich girl who liked to cause trouble. While there was some truth to that, Zhao Xiaolu also realized that Xia Fengguang was a remarkably decisive and resolute person.
Zhao Xiaolu had never imagined that Ou Xun would one day be seen with Xia Fengguang. They were two unrelated people, like parallel lines, and it seemed impossible that they could intersect.
But the reality was just that way.
Sitting next to Ou Xun across the aisle, Zhao Xiaolu softly called out, “Ou Xun…”
He heard her, and so did Fengguang. She shot a glance at Ou Xun and pulled her hand away from his grip under the table.
“It’s class time now,” he said, maintaining silence. After addressing Zhao Xiaolu, he took Fengguang’s hand again.
Well, Ou Xun was always a perfectionist and a top student. Although Zhao Xiaolu felt a bit sad, she was good at comforting herself.
Fengguang frowned as she looked at her book.
“What’s wrong?” Ou Xun asked.
She pointed at a part of the text. “I don’t understand.”
“I’ll teach you.”
Then Zhao Xiaolu heard Ou Xun’s careful explanation, even though they were supposed to be quiet during class!
Finally, when class ended, Zhao Xiaolu quickly intercepted Ou Xun and Fengguang as they were about to leave. She noticed their hands intertwined and hesitantly asked, “Ou Xun, are you and Miss Xia… dating?”
Ou Xun replied with a simple “Mm.”
“Wow… I didn’t expect that.” Zhao Xiaolu asked this question just to confirm her suspicions. To be honest, she had felt a premonition that Fengguang would be with someone other than Shen Wuyan, especially after the incident when Shen Wuyan lost control and slapped her. Remembering that, she sincerely apologized to Fengguang, “Miss Xia, I’m very sorry. I misunderstood you that day and caused you to be wronged.”
This apology was heartfelt.
“It’s okay. It doesn’t matter whether you misunderstood me or not; it won’t affect me,” Fengguang replied, looking at her as if she were an ordinary stranger.
That was indeed her answer.
Zhao Xiaolu didn’t feel relieved; instead, she felt even more apologetic. “If I had discovered sooner that Liu Ti was deliberately causing trouble, and if I could have stood up for Miss Xia… then you wouldn’t have had to suffer so much.”
“You’re overthinking it; I didn’t suffer any injustice.”
“Ah?”
“I eat well and sleep well at home, living a carefree life every day. Do I look like someone who’s been wronged?” Fengguang’s demeanor was carefree, and her tone was light, showing no signs of “injustice.”
But Ou Xun’s expression darkened.
