“Burden?”
Shen Wuyan found it laughable in his anger. He was a decisive king in the business world; no one ever questioned his decisions, and no one dared to speak to him disrespectfully. He was destined to be a figure of reverence, yet some shattered this destiny: Zhao Xiaolu was the first, and Xia Fengguang was the second.
“Mr. Ou, it seems you have talents I never noticed.” This remark was heavily laced with sarcasm; it was remarkable that a woman could view him as a burden. Shen Wuyan didn’t know whether to admire Ou Xun or to consider Fengguang “refreshingly unconventional.”
“Thank you for your compliment,” Ou Xun replied surprisingly politely, but then he added, “I’m just a little better than you.”
Fengguang couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.
Her voice was as clear as a bell, which made it very pleasant to hear. However, to Shen Wuyan, it suddenly felt grating. Even the way she stood beside Ou Xun, like a little bird seeking comfort, was blinding to him.
Suppressing his discontent, Shen Wuyan adjusted his tie, exuding elegance and nobility. He glanced at the bicycle parked nearby and revealed a charming smile, saying, “I’d rather laugh on a bicycle than cry in a BMW. Fengguang, you’ve made me see you in a new light.”
Though it sounded like praise, anyone could tell he was being sarcastic; Shen Wuyan was just that kind of person—he would never admit defeat.
Fengguang’s first reaction was to worry that Ou Xun might feel uncomfortable, but when she looked up, she saw that Ou Xun’s expression hadn’t changed. Reassured, she retorted to Shen Wuyan, “I don’t like BMWs or bicycles. What I like is simply the person who drives me. Someone like you would never understand.”
“I don’t need to understand. The press conference you mentioned will be scheduled for three days from now. Just make sure you’re not late. Goodbye.” Shen Wuyan cast one last glance at Fengguang before turning to get into his car.
Fengguang watched the car leave, feeling annoyed. “Tch, he dares to be more arrogant than I am!”
Hmm… So you do realize that you can be quite arrogant, don’t you?
“Ou Xun, what are you doing?” Seeing him suddenly pull out his phone, she had to stand on her tiptoes to see the screen clearly because she was shorter than him. As a result, she felt dizzy at the sight of the rapidly changing numbers—she didn’t understand them at all!
Not far away, a loud screech of brakes caught her attention. She looked over to see Shen Wuyan’s car performing a breathtaking drift; it almost crashed into a large tree at the roadside. She could almost imagine the shocked expression on Shen Wuyan’s face at that moment.
She turned to look at Ou Xun. Even though she didn’t understand why she was drawn to him, it was an instinctive feeling.
Under her intense gaze, Ou Xun put his phone back in his pocket and said, as if discussing what to eat today, “Choosing to laugh on a bicycle is the right decision.”
“Oh…” She had no idea how to respond to that.
Shen Wuyan shouldn’t have equipped his car with an autopilot system. Ou Xun had said that he was just a little better than Shen Wuyan. That wasn’t an exaggeration or a lie told for the sake of pride; it was simply the truth.
In the business world, Shen Wuyan might be a king, but Ou Xun was the king of the electronic world. One ruled in the real world, while the other reigned in the virtual realm, but that virtual world could easily influence the reality covered by wires and electronic signals.
So, he was indeed a little better than Shen Wuyan, wasn’t he?
