“It’s just some zombies, all made of data. I’m not afraid,” Feng Guang turned her head, appearing quite disdainful of these data-constructed zombies.
Ren Wuxing suddenly asked, “Are you afraid of ghosts?”
She was startled but quickly calmed down. “Why do you ask that?”
“Nothing much, just had a feeling you might be afraid of ghosts.” Ren Wuxing said this without any context and continued walking ahead.
What did he mean by that? Could it be that ghosts would appear in this radiant path!?
Feng Guang hadn’t played this dungeon before; she had only read through some strategy posts online. These zombies were merely low-level enemies that were easy to defeat. Even the strategy guides barely mentioned them, and perhaps ghosts might show up since they weren’t considered important enough for anyone to mention.
But even if they were easy to kill, it was still a big deal for her, someone who was afraid of ghosts! She had no idea why Ren Wuxing would say that; he simply felt she would be scared of ghosts, a gut feeling he couldn’t explain.
“Ren Wuxing… wait for me!” Feng Guang hurriedly followed him, running up to him and naturally grabbing onto his… belt.
Ren Wuxing turned around, speechless.
Girl, doesn’t holding onto that seem a bit off?
Feng Guang pretended to be aloof, raising her chin to reveal her delicate little face, which could provoke someone to want to hit her. “It’s so dangerous here! I’m afraid you’ll get lost. If you separate from me, who will take care of you? If you die, I won’t know how to explain it to your friends.”
Oh, she spoke convincingly, but was that a valid reason for holding onto his belt?
No, it was easier to hold onto this.
Feng Guang knew she was rambling. Throughout this journey, aside from being startled by zombies suddenly jumping out, she hadn’t used any healing skills. This meant that Ren Wuxing had soloed this entire path. She clutched his belt tightly, ready for him to swat her hand away, but unexpectedly, he said nothing and allowed her to continue holding on as they moved forward.
Having a dead weight hanging on behind him made him cut through the zombies more efficiently; often, before Feng Guang could even react, one ugly zombie would already be on the ground.
His long sword sheathed, he slightly turned his head. “What’s wrong?”
It turned out she had been staring at him. The intensity of her gaze was hard to ignore. Feng Guang fidgeted for a while. “You…”
He quietly waited for her to finish.
“Cough!” Clearing her throat, she discarded her shy demeanor and directly asked, “Ren Wuxing, why aren’t you trying to get rid of me?”
“Only the young lady drives others away. I don’t have the right to chase you off.”
Although he was being sarcastic, Feng Guang heard it as mere complaining. She found it odd. “Don’t you hate me?”
“I don’t hate you.” Before Feng Guang could register her surprise, he casually added, “In fact, I hate you.”
Whether it’s a diamond heart or a steel heart, hearing that someone dislikes you inevitably causes some discomfort. However, because he delivered that line so casually, Feng Guang felt no unease; instead, she thought he was being dismissive. Something didn’t add up—when she first met him, hadn’t his tone and attitude clearly expressed disdain for her?
