After listening to Liu Xun, Feng Guang sighed rather heartlessly.

“You really are hopelessly devoted.”

Liu Xun smiled. “Miss Xia probably can’t understand this kind of feeling.”

“Treating your own life like a joke? No, I don’t want to understand it.”

“When Miss Xia truly falls in love with someone, maybe then you’ll understand.”

“Someone I truly love…” She glanced at Qi Wei, who was still talking with Yang Hui in the distance, before suddenly asking Liu Xun, “Do you think I like Qi Wei?”

Liu Xun thought about it for a moment. “Judging from how Miss Xia acted before, I’d say you probably did.”

“But if Qi Wei… if he had mental problems like Yang Hui, and wanted to lock me up, I wouldn’t be like you. I wouldn’t still have the thought of staying with him.”

She had never trusted him, just as she had never believed he truly liked her.

“Mr. Liu.” She looked up at the man before her and smiled faintly. “Miss Yang is very fortunate to have someone who loves her the way you do. Unfortunately, I’m not you. There are many things I simply can’t do.”

For example, the suspicion she felt toward him, the distrust she carried for him—those were things that could not easily be changed. And she understood very clearly that she had never once trusted him.

But even understanding that changed nothing.

Qi Wei was not Yang Hui.

And she was not Liu Xun.

Liu Xun was a very perceptive man. He never pressed people about things they clearly did not wish to discuss. Gazing out at the blue sky stretching above the coastline, he smoothly changed the subject.

In the distance, Yang Hui called out Liu Xun’s name, urging him to come over. After saying goodbye to Feng Guang, Liu Xun quickly ran off.

Feng Guang remained seated by the shore.

Before long, Qi Wei returned. Sitting beside her, he rubbed the top of her head and smiled.

“What is Feng Guang thinking about?”

“I was thinking… that the sky and the sea actually aren’t the same color after all.”

“And what else?”

She lazily asked, “What else is there?”

“Haven’t you ever thought about walking into that blue sea?”

She paused and looked up at him.

Qi Wei smiled and wrapped his arms around her, murmuring beside her ear,

“People can’t breathe underwater. Suffocating feels terrible. And if a body stays in the water too long, it swells up everywhere. By then… Feng Guang would no longer be the beautiful Feng Guang she is now.”

Her hand trembled slightly.

“So Feng Guang kept the seashell after all.” He closed his hand over hers and let out a pleased chuckle. Almost like a reward, he kissed her deeply again. Between the tangle of lips and tongues came his low voice:

“If Feng Guang likes them, I’ll find even more beautiful seashells for you.”

A long while later, the lingering kiss finally ended.

She quietly stared at his face for some time before softly asking:

“Qi Wei… if I died, would you give me freedom?”

“Feng Guang won’t die.” His thumb gently brushed across the corner of her lips, which still carried an enticing redness left behind by his kisses. “Feng Guang still has too many things she can’t let go of, so… you won’t die.”
