Fengguang shot Qi Wei a fierce glare. “Vegetables are nutritious! You’re not allowed to ‘change your taste’ whenever you feel like it, got it?”

“You’re absolutely right, Miss Xia,” Qi Wei replied with a smile—then proceeded to order her a dish of carrots and cabbage.

Fengguang sat down, staring at the food on the table with zero desire to pick up her chopsticks. Qi Wei placed an apple in front of her. She immediately gave up on the chopsticks and reached for the apple—only to watch him calmly take it away again.

She glared at him, then huffed and turned her head. “I’m not eating!”

“If you don’t eat, and you get hungry in the middle of the night, the cafeteria won’t be open.”

“Carrots are completely anti-human—just like cilantro, they shouldn’t even exist in this world! And you ordered me a whole plate of them!”

A trace of amusement flickered in Qi Wei’s eyes. “‘Anti-human,’ huh? Do you really hate carrots that much?”

“Of course! This is a matter of principle!”

“Being picky isn’t a good habit,” he said lightly.

“I’m not picky—I’m selectively eating,” she corrected seriously. “I never make my stomach suffer.”

“But carrots are good for your eyes. Still not eating?”

She froze, staring at the shredded carrots on the table for a long moment. After a pause, she shook her head firmly. “Not eating.”

Clearly, this really was a matter of principle for her.

“In that case, don’t eat,” he said, casually moving the dish away. “I heard the power system on the fourth floor still hasn’t been fixed.”

“It still isn’t?”

“That’s right.” He looked down at her. “What should we do? Miss Xia’s mild night blindness probably won’t handle a place that dark very well.”

“…I can borrow a flashlight.”

“That would be helpful. I imagine Mr. Nangong already knows you’ll be living next door tonight. He’ll probably want to have a little chat with you.”

“I—I can borrow earplugs… then I won’t hear anything.”

She forced back her tears of gratitude and snapped, “You are absolutely terrible!”
