“Xianmo!” Fengguang was startled by his blunt answer. She looked at the boy again—he was already on the verge of tears. “Look at that—you’re about to make him cry.”

Xianmo pursed his lips and said nothing.

After all, he was only twelve. Seeing his rare display of childishness, Fengguang suddenly didn’t know what to say.

“You’re only twelve. You’re still young.”

He insisted stubbornly, “I’ll grow up soon.”

Seeing the sudden seriousness in his expression made Fengguang feel strangely unsettled.

Behind them, the others were still arguing noisily. Xianmo spoke softly, “Fengguang, let’s go.”

“Alright…”

The road back to Yihe Palace was blocked by that crowd, so they had to take a longer route. And of course, the moment they detoured, they ran into someone.
