Although Aiden’s magic did little damage to the three-headed giant snake, at best like poking it with a needle, no one could stand having a needle jabbed into their eyes again and again.
“Hiss—”
The three-headed giant snake grew irritated. It decided to set Freya aside for the moment and deal with Aiden first! So it turned the head that had not been blinded by chili peppers and lashed out towards Aiden.
Before the main course, a little appetizer wouldn’t hurt!
“Aiden, watch out!”
Freya knew Aiden’s magical abilities better than anyone. So she formed an attack magic circle as fast as she could and struck the three-headed giant snake a heavy blow.
Freya had talent and ability.
Although attack magic was not her forte, she still managed to sever one of the snake’s heads. Blood and flesh flew everywhere. Crimson blood gushed out in great spurts.
“Hiss, hiss, hiss!” It sounded partly like a pained wail and partly like an enraged howl.
The three-headed giant snake refocused its gaze on Freya. The look in its serpentine eyes grew serious. All its scales stood on end. It would now go all out to swallow this delicious prey!
Its tail began thrashing violently against the ground. Tremors spread outward from the center, splitting the earth and making it almost impossible for people to stand.
She must not get entangled in a prolonged fight!
After cutting off one head, Freya and Aiden ran for their lives towards the exit of the canyon.
The giant snake pursued closely behind them.
“Princess, look out!”
Aiden noticed with sharp eyes that the severed head had somehow grown back and was charging at Freya again. He threw himself forward to shield her.
“No! Get out of the way!” Seeing Aiden about to take the hit for her, Freya tried to push him aside.
At that critical moment—
“Aiden, move!” A familiar cold male voice sounded beside them.
A dense magical aura spread through the air, accompanied by a black sword shadow infused with magic.
All three snake heads fell to the ground at once. Blood dyed the canyon red. In an instant, the snake was deader than dead.
Lant!
“Wah! Brother Lant! You finally made it! I was about to die!” Aiden looked at Lant as if he were his own long-lost older brother, tears and snot streaming down his face.
“I… I brought backup! Phew…” Lita came running up behind him, panting heavily.
They made it just in time. What a terrifying moment! Even from a distance, Lita was so nervous that she was drenched in sweat.
Confirming that the three-headed giant snake had lost all signs of life, Lant immediately grabbed Freya by the shoulders with a worried look. “Are you hurt anywhere? I’m sorry I’m late.”
“Mmm… I’m not hurt, but…” Freya clutched her chest and frowned. “I suddenly feel tightness in my chest, and… why do I have a bit of a headache?”
Before everyone’s astonished eyes, Freya’s skin emitted an unusual glow.
She might be about to awaken!
Realizing this immediately, Lant took out the largest black cloak from his space and wrapped Freya in it from head to toe, covering even her hands.
The others had no idea what was happening but wisely kept their mouths shut and asked nothing. They followed closely behind.
“Let’s leave here first and find a hidden place.”
The original destination was a sparsely populated ordinary inn, but that now seemed unreliable.
In the end, the group found an abandoned temple on the outskirts of a city. There, they waited for Freya to return to normal.
The awakening of holy power requires a catalyst. As expected, Freya’s battle had stirred a deep desire within her to gain the power to protect her companions.
Awakening has nothing to do with time. What matters is whether one’s determination is strong enough.
Lita watched the light in the room flicker on and off, her heart pounding. “Is she going to be okay? Lant, are you sure this place is safe and no one will find us?”
“I’m sure,” Lant said, guarding the doorway as he wiped his sword.
Yuna thought of the rumors they had heard along the way and asked quietly, “Um… don’t you all think that Leah looks a lot like the legendary Saintess during her awakening?”
Tila’s eyes lit up. “Yeah… all sparkling and glittery!”
Kemi also looked at Lant in surprise. “Lant, do you know something about this?”
Lant did not reply. He remained silent.
Seeing this, the others felt they already had their answer.
They waited for a long time.
The light in the room gradually dimmed and returned to normal. Freya walked out, beaming. “I did it!”
She successfully awakened! She could feel a warm, pure energy flowing within her body.
“Congratulations,” Lant said with a smile. Then his expression quickly turned serious again. “I’m afraid we don’t have much time left.”
Freya’s face also became serious. “Aiden, you were hurt just now. Let me heal you first.”
Aiden held out his scraped arm.
Freya simply waved her hand and the wound healed.
Aiden touched his now intact arm in surprise. “Oh my god! So this is the power of awakening?”
Freya thought of the Holy Sword belonging to Lant in the Dark Night Forest and said worriedly, “Lant… should we… go and draw the Holy Sword first?”
Lant ruffled her hair. “Don’t worry. I drew it three years ago.”
Everyone: …
It seems they just learned something rather shocking?
Freya was first stunned, then enlightened, and then even more stunned.
So way, way back, this man had already been scheming!
Lant turned his face away unnaturally. “I think we should head to our destination quickly. Legend says that the Saintess’s Holy Staff remains in a temple.”
No wonder!
Everyone finally understood. So that was why their destination was a distant and remote temple!
“Hey, hey, so the Otherworld Demons breaking free from their seal is real, right?” Aiden asked again for confirmation.
“Do you even need to ask? It’s so obvious!” Lita patted Aiden, looking like she hated the iron from not becoming steel.
“Then we’re really short on time! What are we waiting for? Let’s go!”
“Let’s go, let’s go!”
The seven people and two horses moved on, continuing in the direction of the temple.
