Having only shown this much skill, Bei Yutang already understood that it was unlikely she could escape from the man before her. But to submit to him was even more impossible.
Now she had to adapt to the situation and see when to strike.
Bei Yutang made up her mind and calmly followed behind the man.
As they approached the door of a side room, the young man stopped and turned to look at Bei Yutang.
He said, “I chose you here not to do anything to you, but because I need you to take care of someone. After this is over, I will return the indenture to you and give you a generous reward.”
Such generous terms would surely tempt any girl in the brothel, who would be deeply grateful to the man before her.
The young man’s voice suddenly changed, and he said sternly, “Remember one thing: don’t have any improper thoughts, or your life will be in danger.”
Bei Yutang looked at him with delight and nodded solemnly, “I will do my best.”
The young man was satisfied with her understanding.
“Young Master, which customer will I be serving?” Bei Yutang asked cautiously.
The young man opened the door and led her into the room. Upon entering the room, a faint medicinal scent filled the air, growing stronger the further they went into the inner chambers.
The young man looked at his master, lying unconscious on the bed, his eyes filled with worry.
They had previously entered the stronghold within Linzhou City, but something had gone wrong; those people had actually caught up with them. Seeing how they had orchestrated everything, it was clear that this was a trap, designed to kill their young master.
They broke through the encirclement, and the others all left to distract the others, leaving him alone to take care of the young master. The young master’s condition made movement impractical, so they needed to find a place to hide nearby. A brothel, a place teeming with all sorts of people, was the best option.
Bei Yutang quietly followed behind Ying Yi, not looking around, only glancing out of the corner of her eye at the bed, where she saw someone lying there. Presumably, the person she was to care for was the patient.
Knowing her task was simply to look after the person brought her a sense of relief. Although the job was simple, Bei Yutang had no intention of actually staying to care for them.
Ying Yi turned to Bei Yutang and said, “You’ll stay here and look after the person for the next few days.”
“Okay…” Bei Yutang opened her mouth, but before the word ‘okay’ could even leave her lips, something unexpectedly flew into her mouth.
It was so fast that Bei Yutang didn’t even have time to react.
Bei Yutang’s expression changed.
“What did you give me?”
Ying Yi, used to her reaction, calmly replied, “This is a poison called ‘Seven-Day Itch’. Without an antidote, the person poisoned will suffer from unbearable itching all over their body, scratching themselves raw for seven days and seven nights before finally dying.”
A cold glint flashed in Bei Yutang’s eyes, but her face remained terrified. Her voice trembled with tears as she said, “I…I don’t want to die.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t let you die. As long as you take good care of the person during this time, I will give you the antidote to suppress the Seven-Day Itch poison every day. When we leave, the antidote and your reward will be given to you together.” Ying Yi said softly.
