[QTC] MBDT Chapter 1490

Bei Yutang looked at her eager eyes and nodded, unable to refuse.

When the beauties in the Beauty Pavilion heard they could go out for a walk, many of them followed, leaving only a few staying indoors. When the beauties in the nearby palace heard about this, some of them couldn’t help but go out as well.

What had originally been a group of five or six people suddenly grew to more than a dozen. The group headed toward the nearby Imperial Garden, with its rockery, flowing water, and a vast lake, offering breathtaking scenery.

Most of the women chosen to enter the palace were children of ordinary families or slaves of exceptional appearance. How could they have ever seen such beauty?

Each one was captivated by the sight before them.

Bei Yutang, however, didn’t seem to mind much, simply following them for a stroll.

“It’s so beautiful.”

“I’ve never seen anything so beautiful before.” Gesang exclaimed with a smile.

Just as everyone was captivated by the beauty before them, a cold voice suddenly rang out.

“Do you know the name of this lake?” The woman who spoke was a delicate one.

Although her appearance wasn’t exceptional, she exuded a unique aura. It was the kind of elegance only found in those from powerful and aristocratic families.

A few years ago, nobles dreamed of sending their daughters to the palace to win the King’s favor and benefit their families. However, their tragic deaths completely dispelled these hopes.

Later, women from other families were sent in, hoping to break the curse, but the results were equally fruitless. Gradually, no noble dared to send their own family members to the palace to die.

The delicate woman before them was clearly of noble descent. Given her status, she was mingling among these powerless and lowly slaves, a clear sign that she had been abandoned by her family.

The beautiful woman’s name was Lin Wan’er, the concubine’s daughter of a sixth-rank official in the capital. Unfavored, she had been sent to the palace by the Madam.

Lin Wan’er’s question caused the chattering beauties around her to tilt their heads.

“Sister Wan’er, do you know the name of this lake?” Someone asked.

Lin Wan’er gazed at the enchanting lake before her, a wry smile playing on her lips.

“Yes, I know. It’s called Beauty Lake. Do you know what Beauty Lake is?”

“I don’t know.”

The beauties all shook their heads, waiting for her to clarify.

“Actually, this lake has another name: Beauty’s Grave. This is because beneath this lake lie the remains of many beauties, lying quietly there. One of these remains is my own sister.”

Her voice was calm and indifferent, yet her words sent a chill through the surrounding beauties.

“Beauty Lake is indeed beautiful.” Lin Wan’er whispered, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.

The beauties around her unconsciously took a few steps back, putting some distance between them and the lake. A quarter of an hour ago, the lake everyone admired had suddenly become a place everyone feared.

Lan Yu’er suggested, “Let’s go somewhere else.”

This suggestion was immediately accepted by everyone. They followed Lan Yu’er in the direction away from Beauty Lake.

Seeing Bei Yutang turn her head and her gaze fixed on the back, Gesang couldn’t help but ask, “Yutang, what are you looking at?”

Gesang followed her gaze and saw Lin Wan’er standing in the pavilion, like a lifeless statue.
