MSBITRS Chapter 93 V1

“Lost, are we?”

Outside the alchemy house on Little Qiong Peak, a confusion array was at play.

A group of high-level demons, all in human form but with twisted faces, stood around staring at a wooden sign, their expressions twitching ever so slightly with frustration.

That damnable human cultivator had lured them right into a maze array!

Just a moment ago, they’d had eyes on him—now he was completely gone.

At the front of the group, an elder demon in the Celestial Immortal realm narrowed his beady eyes and casually crushed the wooden sign in front of him.

“Come out!”

A female demon shrieked, but naturally, no one responded.

The elder demon’s body surged with demonic power. Pale yellow light began to swirl around him before erupting in a burst, shattering the array by brute force.

In an instant, the fog of confusion lifted. Their blocked divine senses were now free to scan in all directions…

And right then, they all saw it.

A brawny human man was leisurely drinking water under a tree not far off, as if the whole mess had made him thirsty from all the cursing.

The demons instantly flew into a rage!

Even the mind control cast by the Blood Mosquito was nearly broken by the sheer wave of fury.

The burly man reacted a beat late. When he heard the rumbling, he looked up, visibly startled.

“You demon bastards! You managed to find me?!”

With that, he grabbed a massive axe and turned tail, running full speed away.

Over twenty demons were now practically fuming with flames in their eyes. They hurled spells and magical treasures after him as they gave chase, murderous and relentless.

The two Celestial Immortal demons led the charge.

To the left was a bloated female demon. Her body burst with blinding green light as her pale arms morphed into massive green wings. With a loud flap, she struck a bizarre “green rooster” pose, launching a storm of heavy emerald feathers toward the fleeing man.

The other elder demon, the one who broke the array earlier, had the head of a black-furred weasel. He swept his hand, summoning a tide of black sand that formed countless sharp, black swords which shot after the man like a storm.

But just as the man ran a few more steps, he let out a roar and dove forward, vanishing into thin air.

The feathers, the black swords, and dozens of glowing attacks from behind vanished without a trace.

Another formation.

Suddenly, ripples like water waves shimmered through the forest. The demons, reacting quickly, shot upward to escape…

But as soon as they left the ground, their vision twisted—they were pulled into a swirling starry void. Up, down, left, right—direction vanished. They were completely lost in space.

Before they could react, every direction—front, back, sides—was filled with dazzling stars.

The Blood Mosquito puppets were puzzled.

These had been just basic arrays moments ago. How had it suddenly escalated into such a high-level formation that even Celestial Immortals couldn’t comprehend?

Why was there such a powerful formation hidden on this unremarkable peak?

Behind those stars, it felt like something was watching them…

In the starry light, it was as though a horde of demon-eating monsters were hiding. Or perhaps hundreds of cold, emotionless battle-shamans were preparing to strike—each aura saturated with killing intent.

Two demons at the True Immortal level exchanged glances and began cautiously exploring to the sides.

But as soon as they took two steps—just four feet from where they had stood—two stars twinkled slightly, and twin sword flashes appeared right before their throats…

A second later, both heads flew. Demon blood sprayed into the void.

Then came divine lightning, shattering their souls and spirits within moments.

Even more terrifying, their corpses revealed half-human, half-demon forms, and the formation instantly drained all demonic power from their bodies.

The rest of the demons froze in place, afraid to move a muscle.

The two Celestial Immortals immediately unleashed attacks, bombarding the surrounding void with demonic power, throwing everything they had—but there was no response, no sign of damage.

Remaining still didn’t trigger more attacks… but that didn’t mean they were safe.

Colorless, odorless poison dust began to drift through the starry mist, sneaking up on every demon.

Within seconds, the weaker ones rolled their eyes and collapsed.

One by one, the demons fell, unconscious or worse. Even the two Celestial Immortals only lasted two breaths longer before roaring in unwilling fury and collapsing as well.

Outside the formation:

A paper avatar of Li Changshou, perched on a tree branch, calmly put away a few porcelain bottles.

Deep inside Little Qiong Peak, the thirty-six core formation pillars slowly powered down.

The deadly formation, Starfall Illusion of a Thousand Trials, reset itself to standby mode.

Li Changshou wasn’t worried about the poison pills—he was more concerned with the energy consumption of the formation itself, especially since it would need to be reused later today.

As the array closed, shimmering airwaves reappeared in midair.

Corpses of strange, monstrous demons began falling from the sky, forming a grotesque pile.

Most were in half-human, half-demon forms, and their souls had already been dissolved by the second wave of toxins.

“Poisoning them myself always gets better results.”

Li Changshou muttered as three more paper men leapt from his sleeve, transforming into three cold-faced old Daoists who got to work.

Due to the urgent battle and the number of puppets he was managing, cleanup had to be fast and efficient.

The paper men poured out three bottles of soul-dissolving poison, tossed out two soul-trapping pearls—

Li Changshou himself “tossed” two handfuls of True Samadhi Fire, which instantly devoured the corpses, their defenses already corroded away.

To protect the environment of Little Qiong Peak, the paper men carefully controlled the fire’s burn radius and began chanting funeral rites.

Suddenly, a faint mosquito buzz echoed through the forest.

Li Changshou had prepared for this—tiny arcs of lightning instantly danced around his paper avatar.

But before the blood mosquito could get within three feet, a long tongue shot from the side and snatched it mid-air.

Ribbit—

A jade-eating frog crouched on a nearby branch, croaked lightly at Li Changshou—almost like it was showing off.

All around the forest, cheerful frog calls echoed in response.

Li Changshou chuckled in his heart. He had been curious if the “electric mosquito net” would work…

Showing off?

After the fight, you’re getting stir-fried!

He jumped down from the tree, threw on another handful of true flame—

Moments later, the corpses were reduced to ash. With a solemn slap of his hand, he scattered the ashes into the wind.

Now that was satisfying.

“…Another little bit of merit earned.”

Although compared to the incense merit he’d “accidentally” accumulated over time, this small amount of karmic merit for eliminating evil was almost negligible…

The three cold-faced old daoists quickly cleaned up the battlefield, returned to their paper man forms, and leapt back into the sleeve of the burly paper man.

Li Changshou glanced ahead at the wrecked trees and couldn’t help but feel a bit of regret.

Many of those trees… he’d planted himself after coming to the mountain.

But, oh well. To protect the sect’s gates, some sacrifices were inevitable.

If Du Xian Sect made it through this battle, he’d just sneak off to another peak and relocate a few spiritual trees and roots—consider it a reward from the sect.
