Feng Yuan clearly remembered that he had just been in his own room moments ago.
That afternoon, he had altered his report card, but for some reason, his dad saw right through it!
His dad said he wasn’t an honest little one, so he held him down on his lap and spanked him.
The crying child pleaded with his big dad for help, but his big dad didn’t rescue him at all.
When his little uncle saw him getting spanked, he simply turned and walked away.
With no one to save him, the little one endured a solid beating.
After the spanking, he covered his sore bottom, ran crying into his room, and slammed the door shut with a click, locking it from the inside.
Once the door was locked, he flopped onto the bed, waiting for his dads, grandparents, or anyone to come and coax him at the door.
But he waited and waited, eventually falling asleep, without hearing a single knock.
Feeling both sad and angry, and with a growling stomach, the little one had no choice but to open the door himself, planning to go out and cook himself a chicken to eat.
But as soon as the door opened, he froze.
Outside wasn’t his home at all!
Beyond the door lay a small island he had never seen before. Standing there, looking just as bewildered, were several little ones about his own age.
These little ones were dressed in all sorts of ways.
Among them were two wearing ancient-style clothing.
Of these two, one had a pretty little face but looked a bit pale and weak, as if he were sick.
Feng Yuan stared for a few seconds, then walked over and greeted them with his usual ease.
“Hello there!”
“Excuse me, where is this? Are you all child actors?”
Feng Yuan had grown up wandering the streets collecting scrap, so he was a natural-born social butterfly.
That’s why, out of all the little ones, he was the first to speak.
After he asked his questions, Yu Pangpang, with his little blue backpack, and Jian Ning, in his kindergarten uniform, both shook their heads and answered him.
“Nope.”
Ming Qiao and Ling Rui, dressed in ancient-style clothes, didn’t understand a word of what was being said.
Feng Yuan: “…”
Feng Yuan fell into thought.
Feng Yuan couldn’t figure out what was going on either.
But he took it pretty calmly.
Tilting his round little chin up, after a moment of contemplation, he decided to introduce himself first.
“Never mind. Let’s get to know each other!”
“My name is Feng Yuan, and I’m in kindergarten. Oh, and here’s my business card.”
“After school, I collect scrap. If you ever have any scrap at home, you can sell it to me.”
“I’ll give you a good price!”
Feng Yuan didn’t forget to promote his scrap-collecting business, even here.
Jian Ning looked at him curiously and bravely extended his chubby little hand.
“Hello, I’m Ning Ning, and I’m in kindergarten, too.”
“I—I’m Pang Pang!”
“I can tell, you’re chubby.”
Feng Yuan smiled at Yu Pang Pang, his eyes crinkling, and reached out to pat his little cheek.
“We little ones are supposed to be chubby and round. That’s what makes us cute.”
“See! I’m very round.”
As he spoke, Feng Yuan transformed with a soft plop into a little phoenix in front of the group.
The little phoenix blinked its moist, black bean-like eyes, its tiny body perfectly round and plump.
Yu Pangpang looked at him and slowly blinked.
The next moment.
Yu Pangpang revealed his own chubby tail, which looked like a plump chicken drumstick.
The little ones who had true forms all transformed.
Feng Yuan was a round little phoenix, Yu Pangpang was a chubby little fish, and Ling Rui was a fluffy white ball of fur.
Jian Ning held the little phoenix in one arm while stroking the fluffy ball with the other hand, his eyes practically “petting” Fatty Fish’s plump tail.
He was overjoyed!
Ming Qiao, standing obediently nearby, watched them with envy.
After gazing for a long while, he mustered up his courage and joined in.
Though the little ones didn’t know each other, they quickly became playmates.
“Pang Pang, Qiao Qiao, Rui Rui, Ning Ning and I have both survived in the wild before.”
“From now on, until the adults find us, let us take care of you!”
“Don’t worry, we won’t let you go hungry!”
