Thank you, BlueMoon, for the ko-fi~
Rong Rong was kissing Eggy’s little hand, while Feng Yuan stood with his chubby hands on his hips, arguing with his godfather.
“Eggy is so little! How can you hit Eggy?”
“He’s being disobedient and throwing things everywhere. Don’t you think he deserves a spanking?”
Yu Yi also tattled, reporting how Eggy had been tossing things around.
Feng Yuan glanced down and saw that the floor was indeed littered with objects.
Even though Eggy had been throwing things, Feng Yuan, as his older brother, firmly defended him.
“Godfather, you can talk to Eggy nicely. Eggy is very obedient.”
“If you tell him not to throw things, he won’t do it.”
As he spoke, Feng Yuan demonstrated for Yu Yi right then and there.
He picked up a toy and placed it back into Eggy’s hand.
Then, with a serious expression, he patiently explained to Eggy, “Eggy, if you throw things on the floor, they might break. You shouldn’t throw them anymore, okay?”
Rong Rong nodded in agreement.
Throwing things around really wasn’t a good habit.
Eggy looked at his older brother and Rong Rong. He blinked his big eyes, hugged the toy tightly to his chest, and looked as though he wouldn’t throw things anymore.
Seeing how well-behaved he was, Feng Yuan immediately puckered his lips and kissed him.
“Rong Rong, you should give him a kiss, too.”
Feng Yuan, watching Eggy giggle after being kissed, enthusiastically invited Rong Rong to kiss him as well.
Rong Rong had already kissed Eggy’s little hand earlier.
At Feng Yuan’s invitation, he leaned over and planted a kiss on Eggy’s cheek.
Eggy’s eyes curved into happy crescents as he laughed out loud.
A delighted expression spread across his little face. His entire being radiated visible joy.
Seeing how happy he was, Feng Yuan wanted Qin Xun to kiss him, too.
But Qin Xun refused.
Hearing the rejection, Eggy’s expression relaxed slightly.
The little ones played together.
The adults found it a pure delight just watching them play.
Of course, among the adults, Yu Yi was in a less-than-ideal mood.
He was still upset with his own little troublemaker.
Wu Jin comforted Yu Yi, urging him not to pay any more attention to the little rascal.
Feng Yuan picked up the little troublemaker and held him in his arms.
He asked Qin Xun to help push the stroller. Together, they headed to the playroom.
Once the children had left, the remaining adults chatted among themselves.
Yu Ye scanned the room.
Finally, he spoke up and asked, “Where’s Xiao Hong?”
The blue dragon in the living room looked up at him and replied, “Xiao Hong went back to the sea with Yin Shuang. Xiao Hong said he wanted to go back for a visit, and Yin Shuang went with him.”
After answering, the blue dragon noticed that Yu Ye’s expression didn’t look too pleased.
But he didn’t pay it much mind.
After sitting in the living room for a while, he also got up and left.
He wanted to take another look at the baby and Eggy.
In the playroom, Feng Yuan wasn’t playing with toys. Instead, he sat in the ball pit holding Eggy, telling Rong Rong and Qin Xun about his experiences inside the mirror.
When the little guy mentioned that Grandpa Ancient Vine was gone, he wiped away tears.
He recounted everything in detail, even explaining how his big dad hadn’t recognized him and had treated him poorly.
And Chi Shui hadn’t remembered Rong Rong either.
Rong Rong learned about this as well.
After hearing it, Rong Rong’s pretty little face fell, clearly upset.
Neither of the little ones had been recognized by their fathers.
Feng Yuan declared outright, “I’m never going to acknowledge Big Dad again.”
Rong Rong nodded in agreement. “Me neither.”
Since both little ones were feeling down, Qin Xun brought them some snacks.
Feng Yuan hadn’t been able to eat any outside snacks while he was inside the mirror.
He happened to be craving them intensely.
Qin Xun brought them some snacks.
Eggy watched them eat, drool dripping from the corner of his mouth.
“Ah!”
He opened his mouth, hoping his brother would feed him a bite.
Feng Yuan didn’t give him any.
Feng Yuan finished all the snacks, then gently patted Eggy’s little face.
“Eggy, you’re still too young to eat snacks.”
“When you grow a bit older, Brother will give you some.”
Eggy was still too little. For the first few months, he could only drink formula milk.
Feng Yuan thought his formula was pretty tasty, too.
Unable to have any snacks, Eggy grabbed the bottle from his crib and started sucking on the nipple.
There was no milk left in his bottle.
No matter how hard he sucked, he was just sucking air.
Feng Yuan patted his little belly again and, seeing it was still round and full, decided not to make more milk for him.
The three little ones, along with Eggy, started chatting again.
As they talked, Qin Xun suddenly remarked, “Yuan Yuan, kindergarten starts the day after tomorrow.”
Feng Yuan: “!”
Feng Yuan jolted, leaping to his feet.
“What!”
Feng Yuan exclaimed in shock, “It’s starting so soon?”
He felt like they had just started their break!
Shocked by the news, the little guy repeatedly asked Qin Xun to confirm, “Qin Xun, are you sure you didn’t get it wrong? Yuan Yuan hasn’t had enough fun yet.”
“I’m not wrong.”
Qin Xun was certain. “Kindergarten is really starting.”
But the bad news Qin Xun brought wasn’t just about kindergarten starting.
There was another piece of bad news he hadn’t told Feng Yuan yet.
Along with the kindergarten reopening notice, there was also a vaccination reminder.
Little ones of Feng Yuan’s age needed to get their shots.
The kindergarten would also check the children’s vaccination records upon enrollment.
There happened to be a children’s vaccine due soon, which all the kids had to get.
Qin Xun knew Feng Yuan hated school even more than he hated shots.
So, he decided not to deliver both pieces of bad news at once.
He was afraid the little guy wouldn’t be able to handle it.
“Yuan Yuan came out too early.”
Feng Yuan handed Eggy to Rong Rong to hold and despairingly flopped into the ball pit.
“Yuan Yuan, since kindergarten starts the day after tomorrow, have you finished your homework?”
“Yuan Yuan will do it tomorrow.”
The little guy, weighed down by heavy emotions, really didn’t want to touch his homework right now.
He rolled around in the ball pit, trying to drown himself among the colorful balls.
Unfortunately, after half an hour of effort, he still hadn’t succeeded.
While the little ones played in the toy room, the adults outside chatted for a while before preparing to leave.
They all wanted to go back and settle in.
Li Sheng came to pick up his son.
He bent down, intending to carry him.
But Feng Yuan refused to be held.
The little guy was as stubborn as a wild calf, not letting his big dad touch him at all.
Li Sheng had no choice but to let him walk on his own.
Soon.
Everyone went their separate ways. Li Sheng and Feng Qi also met the rest of the Li family.
Li Heng, seeing them return, finally felt a weight lift off his chest.
“It’s good to have you back.”
As he spoke, Li Heng scooped Yuan Yuan into his arms.
Feng Yuan hadn’t seen his grandfather in days and had been missing him.
Grandfather and grandson snuggled and hugged, full of affection.
After showering his grandfather with kisses, Feng Yuan puckered his lips and kissed all the other adults, too.
He made his rounds, kissing everyone—except his dad.
Li Sheng watched his clearly grudge-holding son, his eyes darkening slightly.
He pulled the little guy closer and apologized sincerely.
“Yuan Yuan, Big Dad was wrong.”
Li Sheng was no stranger to apologizing in front of Feng Qi and their son.
Holding his son’s little face, he looked genuinely sincere.
“I shouldn’t have failed to recognize you, nor should I have treated you so poorly.”
“Can you forgive Big Dad?”
Feng Yuan let out a heavy, childish huff and shook his head. “No!”
After declaring his refusal, the little guy broke free from his big dad’s grasp and ran back to his grandfather.
“Grandpa, hold me!”
Li Heng picked up his grandson and glanced at the apologetic Li Sheng, but didn’t speak up on his behalf.
If you upset the child, you’re the one who has to soothe him.
He wasn’t getting involved.
Feng Yuan didn’t go out that afternoon. He had plenty of space to romp around in their courtyard.
Seeing that the boy was playing happily outside, Feng Qi and Li Sheng retreated to the bedroom and closed the door behind them.
Feng Qi closed the door, but Li Sheng was the one who locked it.
As soon as the lock clicked, Li Sheng pulled Feng Qi into his arms.
“Feng Qi, please don’t be angry with me anymore.”
After apologizing to their son, he now turned to appease his partner. “All those things that upset you were done by the old Li Sheng, not me.”
“Look at how I’ve been behaving lately. Haven’t I been doing well?”
This version of Li Sheng loved his partner and his son dearly.
He seemed far better than the Li Sheng of the past.
Feng Qi patted the back of his hand, signaling for him to let go.
“I won’t release you until you talk to me.”
“Feng Qi, forgive me.”
“In this lifetime, all I want is for you and Yuan Yuan to be happy.”
Back when Li Sheng was a demon, his ambitions were to eradicate the gods and expand his territory.
But now, he had shed all those aspirations.
He had no interest in becoming the strongest demon, nor did he care about the conflicts between gods and demons.
His only interest was staying by Feng Qi and Feng Yuan’s side.
With no one else in the bedroom, Li Sheng cast aside all pride.
He murmured apologies softly into Feng Qi’s ear, clinging to him with all sorts of coaxing gestures.
In a place like the bedroom, an adult’s apology always carried a hint of danger.
Although Feng Qi no longer possessed his former strength, he still carried himself with the authority of one in command as he sat on the bed, facing Li Sheng, who knelt before him in a suit.
Li Sheng’s hands gripped his waist, his intense gaze fixed squarely on him.
In that moment, memories of the past surged forth.
Feng Qi reached out and gently stroked Li Sheng’s handsome face.
A slight smile touched his lips as he called out, “Xiao Sheng.”
That name made Li Sheng’s eyes grow warm.
It was Feng Qi who had given Li Sheng his name.
And it was Feng Qi who had found and taken in this demon.
The two of them had been together for more years than anyone could count.
Li Sheng was clever.
He knew exactly what Feng Qi liked about him, so he willingly played the part that Feng Qi adored most in his presence.
Feng Qi had taught him everything.
And from Feng Qi, he had gained everything he had ever truly wanted.
“Feng Qi, I promise you…”
Li Sheng’s grip on Feng Qi’s waist tightened gradually.
Staring into Feng Qi’s face, he vowed, “From now on, I will never hide anything from you again, and I will never go behind your back.”
“I will protect you and Yuan Yuan.”
Once he finished his pledge, Li Sheng didn’t dare wait for Feng Qi’s response.
He rose and sealed Feng Qi’s lips with a fervent kiss.
While the two fathers were busy resolving their matters in the bedroom, the chubby little toddler in the courtyard kept glancing toward the house.
He found it a bit strange.
“Why isn’t Big Dad coming to coax Yuan Yuan?”
The little guy was a bit upset: “Yuan Yuan is still angry!”
Li Sheng didn’t come to coax his son, so Qin Xun stepped in to do it for him.
“Yuan Yuan, look. I made a flower for you out of snow.”
Qin Xun had learned it from a video.
This winter, the most popular videos were tutorials on making snow roses.
Qin Xun handed the snow rose he had made to Feng Yuan.
“Yuan Yuan, do you like it?”
Feng Yuan nodded vigorously: “I like it, I like it! Yuan Yuan likes this flower.”
Feng Yuan genuinely liked it and even wanted to bring the flower inside.
Unfortunately, it wouldn’t last long before melting.
Seeing how much he liked it, Qin Xun ruffled his little head.
“In the future, I’ll plant lots and lots of flowers for you.”
“Okay!”
Feng Yuan’s eyes curved into crescents as he stood on his chubby tiptoes and kissed Qin Xun on the cheek.
The two little ones played in the yard for a while before going to find Rong Rong.
As soon as Feng Yuan arrived, he felt a bit unnerved by Uncle Chi Shui’s gaze.
“Rong Rong, what’s wrong with your dad?”
Feng Yuan didn’t quite understand why Uncle Chi Shui was looking at him like that.
He asked Rong Rong, but Rong Rong just put on a stern face and said, “Don’t mind him.”
Rong Rong and his dad hadn’t been on good terms for half a day before they fell out again.
The reason for their falling out was that Rong Rong had come back and asked his dad—
“Don’t you remember Rong Rong?”
The little ones’ thought processes were all the same.
They all thought that if their dads didn’t recognize them, it meant they didn’t love them anymore.
The two kids, both in similar situations, abandoned their dads and started playing on their own.
Feng Yuan played until the next day and still showed no intention of doing his homework properly.
Qin Xun brought out his homework.
The little guy had been playing all winter break and was too caught up in having fun.
Just looking at his homework made him sleepy.
Even when Qin Xun tried to tutor him properly, he wouldn’t cooperate.
The little guy had a lazy, unenthusiastic look on his face.
When Qin Xun brought up Feng Qi, he wasn’t intimidated either.
“Big Dad is still coaxing Yuan Yuan, so Yuan Yuan doesn’t need to do his homework.”
Clutching his pencil but refusing to start, the little guy’s chubby face was smug, clearly counting on his big dad to bail him out.
