IPW Chapter 3: Enemy Encounter

 “Yue’er, don’t be sad. After your injuries are healed, your brothers will take you to seek revenge. If anyone dares to resist, they’ll hold them down for you, and you can beat them as much as you want!” Sima Lie saw that Sima Youyue had been silent and thought she was still upset so he sat down beside her and tried to console her. 

But Grandfather are you sure this kind of consolation is correct? Aren’t you encouraging me to cause trouble? However, in her past life, she was an orphan so hearing Sima Lie’s words made her heart feel warm inside. 

So this is what it feels like to have a family! 

After taking the medicinal pill, all the pain in her body disappeared within minutes. In less than half an hour all her injuries healed. This was the first time Sima Youyue had experienced something so magical, and she felt full of curiosity about this world! 

“Grandfather, this thing is amazing!” Sima Youyue sat up, feeling full of energy again. 

 “Haha, yes.” Sima Lie saw Sima Youyue speaking and nodded with admiration, then sighed, saying, “Alas, it’s a pity that no one in our family knows how to refine pills. Otherwise, if someone knew, I wouldn’t have had to go through so much trouble to get this pill for you.” 

“But doesn’t our family have pills?” Sima Youyue asked. After all, they were a general’s household and surely they wouldn’t be without pills. 

“The pills we have are mostly first-grade, and the few second-grade pills we have are not for healing injuries, so they wouldn’t help you heal. That’s why I had to go and ask Lord Shi for this medicinal pill. Alas, it’s also my fault. My temper is too fiery, and I don’t get along well with the alchemists in the capital. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have taken so long, and you wouldn’t have suffered so much.” Sima Lie said with self-blame.

“Grandpa, don’t be sad. It’s not your fault. It’s those alchemists who are so full of themselves that they aren’t likable. I don’t like them either!” Sima Youyue said, “If one day I become an alchemist, I will give them a slap in their faces!” 

“Haha, good, Grandpa will wait for the day when they’ll have to listen to you!” Sima Lie said, laughing heartily. 

Both of them were excitedly looking forward to the future and completely forgot that to become an alchemist, one must first become a Spirit Master! Since refining pills requires the alchemist to channel spiritual energy into the pill furnace, otherwise, they won’t be able to refine any pills. But Sima Youyue wasn’t even a Spirit Master, let alone an alchemist. 

Because of the miraculous effects of the pill, Sima Youyue quickly healed and became lively again. The next morning, she went out alone to the streets. 

Although she had the memories of her past life, she still wanted to see what this world was like with her own eyes. 

“This world is really amazing!” After walking through two streets, Sima Youyue stopped in front of a shop and looked inside at the various animals. When she saw some animals that could speak, she couldn’t help but marvel. 

“Ah, isn’t this the Fifth Young Master? Fifth Young Master, please come in. What kind of goods do you want today? We’ve just received a batch of magical beasts. Would you like to take a look?” The shop assistant saw Sima Youyue at the door and hurried out to greet her was clearly quite familiar with her previous identity.

Sima Youyue searched through her memories and found that her previous identity was indeed familiar with this shop because she often bought spiritual beasts to give to that young master as a way to please him. 

Since she frequently visited, she was well-acquainted with the shopkeeper and the assistants. 

“Fifth Young Master, look, these are the new magical beasts we’ve received—a level five low-grade spiritual beast, the Fire Fox. And this one, a level six low-grade spiritual beast, the Gale Wolf. How do they look?” The assistant led Sima Youyue into the shop and stopped in front of two cages, pointing at one of the wolves in a cage. 

“Hmm, they do look good.” Sima Youyue looked at the Gale Wolf in the cage. Although its eyes were dull, its fur was shiny, indicating that it was of good quality. “But I didn’t bring any money today, so I’m not planning to buy. I can’t even form a contract with a beast, so what’s the point of buying one?” 

Everyone knew that the Fifth Young Master of the General’s household was useless and couldn’t form a contract with a spirit beast. Every time she bought one, it was to give away. But the shop assistant didn’t care what she did with it as long as he could get money from her, that was enough. 

“Fifth Young Master, do you think I would lose money by not selling to you? If you like it, you can take the beast first, and then send the money over later.” The assistant said, “Oh, by the way, Young Master Murong An mentioned wanting a Gale Wolf last time, but there were no more in stock. If you see Young Master Murong An, tell him that Gale Wolf is here now. He should come quickly, or it might be sold out soon!” 

If it had been before, Sima Youyue would have immediately bought the spiritual beast to please Murong An, thinking that spending some money was nothing if it could win his favour. 

But now she wasn’t the same as before. Hearing the assistant’s words, she nodded and replied, “Alright, I’ll tell him next time I see him.” 

After saying that, she turned and left the spiritual beast shop. 

“…” 

The assistant hadn’t reacted yet when Sima Youyue had already left the store. He touched his forehead and muttered, “No fever… Why am I seeing things? Sima Youyue didn’t buy what Young Master Murong An wanted? And she walked away so calmly? This must be a hallucination!” 

Sima Youyue walked down the street, thinking about what the assistant had said. She couldn’t help but marvel that it was so well-known that her predecessor liked Murong An, even the shop assistants knew it and used it to promote their sales! 

Thinking about the Gale Wolf she had just seen in the cage, she couldn’t help but again marvel at how amazing this world was. Although her previous self didn’t know much about cultivation, because of Murong An, she still had some understanding of spiritual beasts. 

This world had talking animals called spiritual beasts. Spiritual beasts could also cultivate, much like the mythical creatures from her previous life. There were levels of spiritual beasts, with the lowest being low-grade spiritual beasts, followed by Saint Beasts and Divine Beasts. 

Low-grade spiritual beasts only had awakened intelligence and could understand human speech and respond. Saint Beasts could even speak human language which was truly amazing. 

Spirit Masters could form contracts with spiritual beasts, and once contracted, the Spirit Master and the spiritual beast would be one. However, because spiritual beasts are originally wild in nature hence their spiritual energy is also wild and frenzied; a direct contract would often result in the Spirit Master being harmed. Thus, Beast Tamers came into existence. 

Beast Tamers use their taming abilities to tame and temporarily stabilize the innate nature of the beast’s spiritual energy, making them suitable for forming contracts with the Spirit Masters. Because spiritual beasts prove to be a powerful aid after forming a contract, Beast Tamers are seen as especially important. 

The obedient Gale Wolf in the cage just now had already been tamed. In the time period after being tamed, the beasts are very docile, with no wildness or aggression that is until a Spirit Master forms a contract with it. Only then would its former might, wildness and ferocity be unleashed. 

After spending a long time outside Sima Youyue planned to return to the General’s household. Since she was searching for knowledge about Beast Tamers in her memories, she didn’t notice the path ahead. When she turned a corner, she bumped into someone. 

“Who the hell doesn’t have eyes? Do you want to die?” The person who was bumped into covered the place they had been hurt and cursed. Upon seeing Sima Youyue, they sneered, saying, “You’re still alive? I thought I’d beaten you to death that day!” 

Sima Youyue who was a little shaken by the collision heard the words and looked up, her aura instantly turning cold. 

This person was one of the people who had beaten her up that day! Since she promised to avenge her previous self, she decided to start with this person!
