Shen Yao used her mind to return to her bedroom, quickly changed her clothes, and then walked into the bathroom. Looking at herself in the mirror, she found that the original owner’s appearance resembled her previous life by about eighty percent.

With a delicate oval face, spirited eyes, slightly thin cherry lips, and skin as white as snow. Although her facial features were somewhat childish, they were still exquisite.

Shen Yao breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that her appearance hadn’t changed. After combing her hair, she turned and walked out.

Next, she went to the study and found suitable books: a secret book of ancient martial arts and another on spiritual power.

“This is the life I should live.” After finishing her meal, Shen Yao stepped out of the room and stood in the small courtyard to look around.

The Shen family’s house was made of blue bricks and tiles, a typical farmhouse with four main rooms: a main hall, three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a storage room. The courtyard had a water well and a firewood room, with a toilet in the back and about five mu of private land. Surrounding the yard was a two-meter-high wall, making the entire courtyard quite spacious.

Shen Yao felt good about it. This would be her home in the future.

After inspecting the courtyard layout, she returned to the original owner’s room, collected the bedding into her space, and then took out new bedding to set up. The colors and materials were most similar to the present era.

These were the items she had specifically bought in bulk in her previous life, just in case she really returned to decades ago, so she could take them out and use them. As such, she chose many items with simple and dark colors that were durable.

Once the bed was arranged, Shen Yao opened the two large wooden boxes belonging to the original owner. Inside, there were clothes and other items, including a plum blossom watch. She changed into a clean cotton jacket and pants that were about eighty percent new and didn’t bother to change her warm clothing underneath. If she wasn’t afraid of being suspected by the villagers, she wouldn’t even want to change her outer clothes.

Shen Yao put the original owner’s watch on her wrist and took out her own watch, setting the time and putting it in space.

Next, she disguised her face. The originally beautiful features were reduced to about sixty percent. Shen Yao nodded with satisfaction. This way, it was much safer to go out.

Just as she was thinking about checking other rooms, she heard a knock at the door outside. “Yao Yao, Yao Girl, open the door.”

Shen Yao then remembered that the original owner had been sick for the past few days, and the captain’s wife would visit to check on her every day, and every time she would bring food to her.

Shen Yao quickly adjusted herself and answered while walking towards the yard.

“I’m here, just a moment, Auntie.”

“Yao Yao, you must be hungry. I made some fermented glutinous rice dumplings. Eat them while they’re hot,” Xu Dani said as she entered the house with the food.

“Auntie, I feel much better today. Please save the fermented glutinous rice dumplings for Huzi and the others.”

From the original owner’s memories, Shen Yao knew that the captain’s family treated the original owner very well.

With her current cultivation allowing her to sense others’ intentions, she could clearly feel whether they were kind or evil to her and whether their emotions were true or false.

Fermented glutinous rice dumplings were a precious delicacy in this era, and she couldn’t accept them easily.

What’s more, she was already fine now, so it would be better to let Auntie take them back for her grandchildren to enjoy.

“Auntie, thank you!” Shen Yao felt touched, thinking that since she had enough supplies, she would repay them at the right time in the future.

Xu Dani held Shen Yao’s hand and said, “Oh, don’t be so courteous with Auntie. Girl, you have to think more positively in the future. The dead cannot be resurrected. People have to learn to move forward. You’re still young with a long road ahead. You can’t be so depressed, understand?”

She really feared that this girl would be depressed. With Guilan and her husband gone, only the Yao girl was left. This girl was too spoiled, she was really afraid that she would be stubborn and not know how to move on.
